1. This last weekend I shot some footage at a local import tuner car show. Because I haven't got my lens splint yet I went with the 14-42mm kit as my taking lens. I have a nice set of Nikkors adapted to my GH2 but walking around in a crowded place with that much weight stressing the camera body didn't seem like a good idea. All but maybe two shots were at 18mm and roughly F4 which meant I didn't need to attach my Tokina. It's also worth noting I haven't enhanced the footage and this was with currently un-hacked firmware. The very slight softness and chromatic aberration at the edges of frame actually looks quite nice to me. In many ways the results remind me of Panavision films from the '70s and '80s (ie. John Carpenter). ...I love, love, love this lens.

  2.
anyways, i hope nobody already bought a cage from us or others because blackmagic just told us that the camera body will rise 2mm because they added a plate at the bottom of the camera for better ventilation... so we`ll have to adjust our cad`s a little...
Hi This is incorrect. There has not been a mechanical change since I had last communicated with your company in June 2012. I would like to know where you're getting this information from.

    GH2 vs. Sony Alpha

I'm a Alpha/Nex Sony user, but if you want go mainly on video, the choice is the GH2, the only complaint to me of the GH2 is the IQ compared against the Sony, but the GH2 has many advantages over the Sony alpha: -No time limit recording. -Manual audio control. -Big lens selection. -Quality of the video thanks to the Hack.

  4. calm down guys... :-) we OFFER this cage, nobody is forced to buy it... if you like to rip out the threads directly from your precious camera body.... go ahead. but honestly, we knew that this would only appeal to certain people.. first of all we build stuff that WE want to shoot with and this is the design both of us liked the most. and yes, i like my alpa a lot :-) this rig is 100% made in germany, the handles involve a big amount of hand finishing and, trust me, we don`t have chinese slaves doing that.. there`s always a cheaper solution, product, one for every given budget, so please go ahead, i totally understand that at this price point not everybody can afford this. top gear can, just sold the last two remaining gh2 cages to them :-) about the MFT mount version. this cage will be a pain in the ass if you want to shoot directly with MFT lenses! that`s for sure. but since the camera does not support iris or powered focus on these lenses, anything but your voightländer won`t work either.. we`re aiming here at people who use lens adapters. unlike the pl adapter that you stick directly onto your MFT camera, and that then shakes in the mount, ours will be rock steady and support even the heaviest lenses like angenieux optimos etc.. with now force pulling on the camera mount. as always, all hints, criticism, suggestions etc.. are welcome, we`re not red and we`re pretty proud of that :-) best, bernd wondollek ReWo

  5. Hello everyone, I'm relatively new here considering my post count, but I've been reading these forums for quite a long time now and I'm at the brink of buying a Panasonic GH2. So first of all, which kit to buy? I think I will use this camera mainly for run and gun docu/event shoots (low-light?!), but I like to do some pseudo-artistic hobby shoots from time to time as well. I thought of these options; 1. GH2 with 14-140mm kit and a Voigtländer 25mm. 2. GH2 body (or with the 14-42mm, as there's not much of a difference in price) with a Rokinon/Samyang 24mm and 35mm cine lens. Or should I wait for a longer focal length cine lens as 24 and 35mm do not make such a huge difference for a starter kit, right? Both kits end up being somewhat in the same price range, but I'm a little bit concerned with investing a lot of money in a M43 lens collection, that's why I added option 2. I also like the Cine-versions of the Rokinon lenses, as they've got click-less aperture and follow-focus gears (I already have a Gini rig with Follow Focus). With the Voigtländer being a F0.95 lens and the Rokinon a T1.4, is it a night and day difference in lowlight? (If you'll pardon the pun and ignore the lowlight performance of the GH2 in general). Second question, filters. Should I buy a 77mm variable ND (with step-up rings of course) or should I invest in a mattebox with 4x4 filters. Which of these two options will bring me longterm value for money and convenience? What are their pros and cons? Well, thanks for reading. Jon

  6. Could this be the moment Panasonic finally get the wider acceptance they deserve for the GH line? Here's the first promotional short movie shot on the Panasonic GH3 by Philip Bloom.
