1.
Julian, could you please compose identical frames (by mouthing the 2 cameras together, on the same Tripod, or 2 tripods, placed closeby), also, thereby shooting the Exactly same thing, at the Exact same time. Thanks in Advance ;)
My idea... :-) I have acces to two 14-140mm's, but not this weekend. And since my adapters are missing.. i'm stuck to testing the 12-35mm against a 40mm prime, which is quite a difference. Also, the lack of multi-aspect sensor makes quite a difference.. The GH2 is quite wider. I was doing some low light tests, the findings were quite interesting...but I think I fucked up the aperture so I have to reshoot it. I'll get back with some screenshots tonight. Here's an example of the live view image before recording and during record. This was at iso 3200 (or could have been 1600), with the natural profile everything at -5. The difference is very big.. 2. Premiere CS5 onwards is 32bit processing default. AE 7 onwards I think offers 32bit and linear blending / workspace. BT601 or 709 differences in 5DToRGB are only applicable in the conversion to RGB and then the only difference seen is a slight contrast change and pinks sliding to orange, blues sliding towards green a bit, but unless you have a correctly converted video to image as reference you'd probably never know the difference. All the 4:4:4 and gamma nonsense is pointless, really just import into a higher bit depth workspace, denoise a bit and go from there. 32bit Premiere is going to do a limited range conversion of the GH2 source to RGB straight away, same for AE CS5 onwards. Absolutely no point adding a 15-235 filter to GH2 as thats what it is already, the filter was for 16-255 sources like FS100 and NEX not GH2. All the 4:4:4 stuff is just interpolation of the 4:2:0 chroma which is done as soon as import into CS5 AE or Premiere. Using AE or Premiere prior to CS5 is different handling and screwed up conversion to RGB if not careful. Results will differ between those twi versions, what works in CS5 is not necessarily going to look the same as earlier versions.

  3. Wow. F54K. Love the form factor. Sony could have a huge winner here. If this is priced around the $10K to $15K range then they got the market. If they price too high then they compute with the other big boys and dust collects. Disrupt and secure the market especially in these economic times. Only rough numbers below: 1DC price - low $10000 (Australian website) and BH $12999. C300 - $15000 C500 - $30,000 subtract rebate Scarlet - $12000 to $15000 Epic $40000 Does Sony want to kick ass? Pricing will be the key.

  4.
Camera depreciation is getting crazy. Modular sensors all round I say, otherwise we're gonna fill the world with non-recyclable junk and there'll be nothing left to film :0
it'll die soon. All the kids and hangers on will get bored once they get raw and it cant make their films any more viable as a money making enterprise. I remember seeing more good stuff from Canon xl1 users before the dslr become the first choice. nowadays I swear these guys buy their camera to do lens tests, moire and dynamic range tests. They never make anything with them!

    GoPro 3 Black Edition

Zach, sure. For example, picture grabs. NOTE: It does 2592 x 1458p / 24 fps only $400

  6. Yep, awesome job. For some reason it looks like the slow-mo is even more slower then regular 50fps to 24fps. Did you do any further timestretching? Also, did you use any additional lighting or was that all natural? I love that song by the way. :-)
