1. Firstly the Kowa B&H is an excellent anamorphic - the next best thing to an Iscorama (you hear that claim a lot & its true). Also, it is great for landscape photos (& timelapses) - the 2x stretch gives you great panoramic ability. The only thing that will let you down with the Kowa (if you have a good one) is the taking lens & the camera. Use a prime lens, not a zoom with an anamorphic - this is especially true of the Kowa. There are lots of vintage lenses out there, which are cheap & sharp. M42 mount ones are great, but since you have a M4/3 camera the world is your oyster as far as vintage lenses are concerned. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that because a lens is new & expensive, that it will be better than an old lens. Save your money & experiment! There are loads & loads of forums that deal with anamorphics and/or vintage lenses: For vintage lenses this is the best resource (the reviews are good, but check out the forum sections) http://www.mflenses.com/ For anamorphics check out the forum sections at: DVXUser Cinema5D Anamorphic Vimeo Group A 35mm lens will serve you well with the GH2 & the Kowa. You could go up the scale to 50mm. Just remember that an anamorphic will produce wide angle images - so a 35mm FF image will convert to a 17.5mm on the GH2. Also don't be afraid to move your tripod (or yourself) back a little in order to get a wider angle! Redstan clamps are the best, you won't regret spending the money. They aren't lens hoods with holes in them, but proper machined clamps - they are light weight & of great build quality.

 2.
I just received my Kowa 2x Bell and Howell in the mail today and I'm trying to attach it to my various lenses and then to my GH2. I'm having a hard time deciphering a few things based off my limited findings on the web. 1) Do I need a special adapter to attach to my lenses or can I simply used regular modern step down and step up rings?
Buy a Redstan adaptor, they are rock solid better than those from Vid-Atalantic and other (some french guy also sells adaptors for anamorphics but they also look very thin too me) Redstan on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/redstan-anamorphic-lens-clamps-simply-superb-quality-kowa-sankor-amd-more-/181007856057?pt=UK_Movie_Cameras&hash=item2a24e8b1b9

 3.
Get a Redstan anamorphic clamp, available here: http://www.redstan.com or on eBay. I believe that the rear thread of these clamps is 52mm. They will allow you to mount your anamorphic lens securely onto your taking lens and orient it appropriately.
The more recent versions of the Redstan clamps for the Kowa B&H and Kowa Prominar 16-H (8Z) terminate in 62mm threads and have a separate internal retaining ring The Kowa Prominar 16H (8Z) clamps are similar but have an inner retaining ring of sightly less internal diameter than the Kowa B&H version. The retaining ring has threads on both sides and is designed to mate with the rear threads of the Kowa and the internal thread of the clamp. The thumbscrews can be loosened to allow secure rotation when setting the correct orientation of the anamorphic attachment. The image at the link below better defines the relationship between the lens and the clamp. http://www.flickr.co...N00/5243409613/

 5. Is this your attempt at "i'm going to post something that makes me seem intelligent" post? you made this post to the masses not taking into consideration that not everybody lives with the same mind state you are posting on. I for one don't always "get the most I can" for my work, I will work with a clients budget. but if you want to be specific about a product that is worth "whining about" we can mention the C300. There are cameras that out preform it and half the cost, with more features. Canon is about like apple, they know that when they put their name on a product, the people that can afford it will buy it (fanboys) and the people with a little bit of common sense will do the research and invest in a product that offers more bang for your buck (BMCC). I'm not at all comparing the C300 and the BMCC, just saying that it's all about the name on the product. The c300 may be the best camera in the world for ones specific needs, but the price tag canon stamped on it is absurd. I have yet to run across anybody that has found the price of the C300 to be reasonable. Basically Canon created a product that will mainly be a "rented" product. Also, I'm not sure where you are from, but where I live (USA) we have something called "freedom of speech" and I guess you could say that would give one "freedom to whine" If you really want to get technical, you are whining about whiners.

 6. So honestly man.. Did you think you were going to condescendingly pop up a 3 page long slap in the face of every aspiring filmmaker on here and not get a response? For starters, "whining" is a form of ventilation for the majority of us here on the forums regarding the overpriced, underperforming products of companies like Canon. We loved the Mark 2. We were loyal for a Mark 3 that kicked its ass... What we got was a 5d mark 2 without moire & aliasing for $1500 more... Along with a cinema line starting at $15,000 picking up its slack. While i agree that no one has to buy their cameras, you don't have to read our ticked off rants about why we're upset that the very demographic that made Canon a filmmaking revolution, has now been priced right the hell out of the equation. And they wonder why their profits have been pounded suddenly... I personally don't practice selling something that offers less than what someone else is offering for more than what they are... But that's just me. I know that's shady. So we're a little pissed about their lack of moral fortitude and we "whine" about it in forums. So what. If you get tired of reading it, head over to another thread... Nobody is going to commit murder over an overpriced camera, but we will bitch about it and probably won't give a crap how pointless it is. If i stub my toe on a chair, not yelling "Motherf*cker!!" As loud as i can isn't going to solve anything either... But it will draw a form of release which can be healthy... And since not buying a Canon camera won't make me feel better either, i'll complain about it in a thread instead....because nobody but oil tycoons can afford the sunuvabitch. Thus, why "not" buying their product is not even an option. Sincerely, Whiner

 7.
Great interview. I loved the persistent questions and the remarks to the side. Well done.
Thank you, hope it was somewhat an antidote to the usual PR.
