  1. Read this...   http://moedred.livejournal.com/2009/03/04/   Very interesting to see them discussing how the film should take shape.   (thanks James Miller & Ed Moore on twitter)

  3. Well, I'm going to try to tone my own angst down because I don't want to contribute unintentionally to any decline.  There's only three forums that I regularly rotate between these days and Andrew's is my first stop.  His site is the reason why I didn't spend twice as much for 1/2 the enjoyment with my current kit.

    GH3 Availability in the US?

B&H just has way higher demand than any other camera store. Manufacturers do favor them because of this, and they often times get more product than other stores, but not at a scale relative to the massive skew in customer base. There is no way for them to keep up with basically the entire country turning to them first for new equipment. Anyways, I took gravitatemediagroup's advice and was able to snag one from Samy's. Canceled my order at B&H after they told me that I would likely not get one from their current shipment.. Excited to finally get this thing all up in my gob.

  5. Just so you all know, I just spent all day with a Canon rep yesterday who let us test a C100, C300, and the 1Dc (we also shot some 5D3, and mushy FS100 footage). He assured me that with the 5D firmware update this spring, we will have uncompressed video that is the EXACT same as the 1Dc in it's "super 35" cropped sensor mode. This was HUGE news to me. Also, from what I saw- The 1Dc even at 4K didn't hold up as well as the C100 with Sound Devices external recorder under controlled light. I'm definitely not poo pooing the 1Dc, but for my needs the C100 is the camera for me at that price.

    Sea & Snow

A short trip along the seafront in Deal Kent UK, enjoying a rare spell of snow. Short lived now gone! Original footage far sharper than the vimeo results suggest! :( For HD viewing view via vimeo site of course. GH2 & 14- 140mm kit lens.         https://vimeo.com/58095885

  7.   Just tested the 422 100Mbps long GOP MPEG2 codec in the Nanoflash with the FS700+SB: the noise detail is finer and cleaner vs. the 24Mbps AVCHD internal codec (as expected); motion artifacts from the codec are mostly gone as well (using higher bitrates would likely remove them completely). Neat Video does do an excellent job cleaning this FS700 footage while maintaining a lot of detail. It appears Canon does more NR in camera (which is helpful for fast turn-around tasks, however Neat Video NR is superior).
