    GH3 card slot door fix

Finally got my GH3 and found a quick fix for the loose card slot door. It's VERY easy.       Circled is the actual contact point of the locking mechanism. These indentations on the metal arm slide over the door hinge when you close the door and hold it shut.       Simply remove the metal piece with a screwdriver and give these little arms a slight bend towards where the hinge will be when re-attached. Just a VERY SLIGHT bend at the circled area is all you need - this photo was taken AFTER I bent mine.   When re-attaching the piece, take care not to strip out the screw hole.

    8 bit, mbp/s, etc.

In simple terms: The more bits you have, the smoother you gradients will be. :-)

  3.   I'd say Standard Digital video in the era of the VX1000 preceded the practical use of DSLRS for video...the quality of the preamps just declined and high level production required double system.   DSLR brought with it even more limitations like with audio metering, so it forces people to look outside the camera for solutions.  Meanwhile, if you're weren't a one man army, there were better tools on the market, but it becomes a matter of budget. A working cinematographer/filmmaker needs the most versatile tools possible.

  4.   There is a kind of workaround. Firstly, the camera REC flashes when there's less than 5 mins of record time left.   You can also calculate how much remaining record time there is on a given SSD if you know the record time for a full disk.  For example, I know a 240GB SSD gives me close to 30 mins @ 25 FPS.   When you play back the last clip recorded, the TC field at the bottom displays the total record time.  This way, let's say it's 00:22:03:00 i know i have about 7 mins of record time left.   They won't do in camera file management.  They might do an in-camera format....maybe...   Alexa's don't allow you to delete individual clips, nor do RED....   jb

  5. Just thought I'd throw out the heads-up in case anyone is interested. It isn't mine (obviously), but the Todd AOs are decent AFAIK and complete single focus units.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Todd-A-O-Anamorphic-lens-55mm-T1-3-canon-Arri-PL-Panavision-/330864182042?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item4d090ac31a

  6.   I am the client & now friend.   Richard has done such a great job on repairing this lens that I think he has easily earnt free hire whenever he wants - like shared custody of a little child made of...errr....glass :)   I already own a Century that he brilliantly rehoused to an enclosed 28mm OM to make a very slick 'One-Piece' lens. His workmanship and knowledge is top notch (but anyone on this forum probably know that already).

  7. I'm noticing all of these raw cameras seem to be designed by software designers who can use solidworks rather than industrial designers who know how things work in the real world, in the physical domain. Surely they could have made the whole thing longer and thinner, with some way to hold the damn thing. no matter what rig this is fitted to, this will remain a 'tripod mount only' setup just like the BMCC. Lets see some ergonomics and great design rather than silly specs that try to compete against cameras most of us would just hire if we need them. The reason this will be so cheap is that no real industrial designer was employed to do a proper job of designing the product itself (in a physical sense). Numerous other corners and oversights will have been made. Granted I bet the pictures out of this thing look nice though.
