  1. I thought I would share some shots of my compact Moeller rig.   The tiny lens is the Pentax Auto 110 2.8/50mm lens, which has a rotating front element, which is not a problem in my setup and is just perfect for a 2.35:1 crop.   A really great feature is that I can set up for precision verticality once and thereafter all my shoots are perfectly aligned. Goodbye slanted video.   Another great feature of the lens support is that it lets me use auto focus rear lenses. I just focus the Moeller and half press the camera shutter to focus the rear lens and I am done. This makes life with a double focus system a breeze.   I decided to name this "Scope on a Rope" :P

  4. looks good! those pentax lenses are great the 50mm and 70mm are sharp 18mm is also very good I stop them down by adding a small washer on the rear to reduce the appeture - they go even sharper then

  6. i assumed he was one of the guys on this site so was looking for a little keyboard banter. was hoping he would explain how he merged the small special iscorama focus optics onto such a big bastard lens  and all for a fraction of the cost of even a faulty iscorama.

  7. Hi Craig,   Yes I have had problems with the aperture ring on an SLR magic lens. I received one brand new from Hong Kong. I was really pleased but as soon as I tried it out I realised it was defective. I closed the iris down and it sprung back open a bit. I think I only closed it down twice saw it move back open then looked into the lens and could see all the coating shredding off the aperture blades.   I sent it back and got a replacement.   Craig you should take the lens off the camera and look inside the lens in a well lit room to see if you can see the aperture blades move when you rotate the iris ring. If the iris blades don't move, the aperture doesn't get bigger or smaller, when you turn the aperture ring something is very wrong and you should send it back.

  8. Storaro is was just to good.. most directors find it impossible to work with people like him. he has more insight more vision to intellectual. gordon willis and  sascha vierny also. directors want yes men not men  that say that idea is not good man : ) you need to be talented and strong to employ such talented beasts.   Apocolypse Now vs The Last Emperor   tricky how about this beauty a masterclass that has been copied by many directors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na1gLSHM0N8
