lesson learned.... not one person dealing with this issue seems to have contributed positively at all to this forum. Just come here to take take take. either selling or buying, they bring NOTHING to the forum. Personally I think there should be a stop to all this posting of ebay listings, personal sales, etc. at least topics of this nature should be only postable and visible by regulars. Also, someone please close the ebay listings topic. this has to be the most ridiculous idea ever. Share your findings with the world, kill any chance of you or anyone else savvy to anamorphics getting a bargain because everyone and their grandma can come in and see a run down of anamorphics worth bidding on. If it were a secret topic to regulars I'd understand, but literally, I'd say that topic alone is contributing 50% towards the current silly inflation of anything with a squeeze ratio!8 points

I think there will be a lot of people cancelling and jumping on the canon raw parade. so pre orders are probably diminishing as we speak. I'm hoping everyone cancels, jumps on the shallow dof bandwagon like back in 2009 (but this time with raw), and leaves the smaller more tactful sensor size less used leaving potential for us who are sticking with it with the aesthetic edge. I have to say I'm on the cusp of looking at a 5dmk3, but the idea of a silky smooth s16mm sensor (and its limitations) is one that is very attractive to me, where most are hankering after a larger sensor again.4 points

Buying and selling advice / guidelines
jonpais reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
PROVE THEY HAVE THE GOODS - Request to see photos of the item being sold with their EOSHD username displayed alongside it, preferably in handwriting on piece of paper so it cannot be faked. COMMUNICATE - Check their forum posting history, see if they are new. If they have a genuine history of posts and contributions to the forum, the seller is more likely to be genuine. - If possible speak with the seller by telephone - Until a deal has been closed, converse with the seller openly on the forum ASK FOR ID - Get a real name, address and ID - If they refuse full details on privacy grounds, ask to continue the deal and all private comms via eBay instead of the forum USE SAFE PAYMENT METHOD - DO NOT use Western Union or wire transfers - PayPal is preferable over bank transfers - Ask if they accept cash on collection SELLERS - Sellers should provide a price in the main topic - Sellers should provide a link to their feedback on eBay and be contactable via their eBay account - Topics that don't meet these rules may be at risk of being deleted DISCLAIMER EOSHD is not responsible for buying and selling on the forums, deal at your own risk and buyer beware1 point -
GoPro 3 exposure lock petition
peederj reacted to Pavel Mašek for a topic
Hi all, please join us to improve GoPro 3 with our GoPro 3 exposure lock petition. Thank you. Text of the petition: We, the GoPro3 users, would like to ask you if you could enhance the GoPro camera with exposure lock functionality. GoPro is a wonderful camera, however, inability to lock exposure can cause side effects that can be noticed in the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFMCWAqY_Io. We would also appreciate full manual control over ISO and exposure, but we all hope that you could add at least the exposure lock function. Thank you very much. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/gopro-3-exposure-lock/1 point -
Please close it Andrew , its just driving up prices on Anamorphics for everyone1 point

This kine camera although it may be more than usable, it has the build quality of a cheap black & decker drill. just look at the buttons, seams and decals. we do not need to know how it is made inside... To put this product in the same sentence with an Alexa is an insult. If the colors of the BM production camera will be spot on, unlike the current BM cinema camera, I would buy the BM over the Chinese one at anytime. But BM colors are a concern. Everybody seems to be concern about BMPC dynamic range, but what is more concerning are the colors of the current camera. Skin tones and saturated colors of the current BM are not acceptable , reminiscent of the quality of early 2000 DSLR. We tested one BMCC before shooting a commercial for skin care product and decided to give it up, because of the issue with the skin tones. it would have made us waste time (money and time of our life that will never get back) on post to fix colors and never get satisfactory results. It was a pity that we could not use this camera that otherwise was good. So we decided go with a Sony F55 which in Tokyo is only 500 usd per day with the 4k recorder and the viewfinder, (vs 150 of the BMCC). the cost of renting rigs and lenses would have been the same for both cameras. at the end we spent an extra 350$ per day and we saved a lot of time and money. You normally get what you pay for.1 point

Agreed. Ebay listing topic should be closed...it now makes it very unfair for people who want to buy - as ANYONE (including the seller) can now swoop through the list and start a bidding war that is now getting to ridiculous levels in some recent cases. The inflated interest and prices also make it more likely that fraudsters would try bogus private listings outside of the Ebay bubble. Private sale listings would be fine as long as people conduct sales and purchases with common sense and with the guidelines recommended by Andrew. A minimum feedback/posting level would be a good start to help ensure that fewer people would get stung or scammed.1 point

FYI, the Kineraw cameras do not support IS on EF lenses.1 point

Let me know if you need anything from the admin panel - like IP address, etc. This guy was a new user here, this was his first post. That should be another warning. Only deal with people who have a history of genuine posts and contributions! I also recommend asking for some form of ID and an address if you are dealing in large sums of money. I'm going to put a page up with some basic rules. Forums are not eBay so you must be more careful. Hope anyone who has been stung gets to the bottom of this.1 point -
I think 'we', being those that visit great sites such as this one, are perhaps giving ourselves a false impression to how big certain markets are. Just a cursory glance at the number of downloads the ML raw builds tells the tale of a few hundred at best. Compared to the interest in these devices as photographic cameras rather than movie making machines, I think we are small fry.1 point

If this last few weeks has shown anything, it is that indie filmmakers are very fickle. BM was toast of the town, now they hardly get a look in and i know plenty of people (myself included) who have cancelled their BMCC orders, while everyone jumps back in bed with Canon, the company that so many, on here, love to hate. I'm sure we will all sell up and buy a Nikon, if they announced a 2K/60p raw upgrade too. It's just the nature of the indie crowd, and i'm not at all surprised that Canon, RED and a few others are now trying to distance themselves from it.1 point

BMC 4K FOOTAGE?
dahlfors reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
I don't think this is really BMPC footage. Whilst on this subject anyway, I think it is a good idea to mention this: Asus 4K LCD monitor is here! http://www.asus.com/News/L9xTPmmMwTlPMq5l1 point -

I am totally with the op. This is absolutely the most glaringly offensive lack of a feature on this camera. Is there seriously harm in asking for a simple feature to be added? This is the 3rd overhaul of the camera, still no exposure lock1 point
