  1. Hey there! After hard work, we’ve finally wrapped the production of our new short “RED WALKER”. And, of course, we’re crazy excited to hear some feedback from you guys :) The film is about 4 min long, featuring a Canadian actress, one from Norway, and another Norwegian with an acting background from New York. We shot it on Canon 7D with an Anamorphic adapter to get that cinematic analog vibe. If there’s any questions concerning the technical/visual aspect of the film, fire away! Here’s the short: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK2BuwH-4_M   I managed to get my hands on an ISCO-OPTIC Cinemascope Ultra Star Lens (one of the smaller versions), an anamorphic projection lens that i have to say; Its really sharp! And taking in consideration this is the first time we've operated an anamorphic projection lens on a filmset, i'm quite happy with the result!   The ana-lens was mounted on a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, a lens i can't say i'm proud to own. What do you think?   Shot on the Canon 7D, settings all set to flat, then graded in After Effects and cut in Premiere Pro.   We've made a couple of films before, including a sci-fi feature, so have a look if this was interesting: www.youtube.com/JARANDandJENS We also have a facebook, if you’d like to get in touch or stay up to date with content: www.facebook.com/JARANDandJENS Enjoy, and give us a little heads-up in the comments-section about what you think! We’re constantly looking for improvement, so a little input from you guys only makes good better :) Looking forward to hear from you, Jens Peder Hertzberg Jarand Breian Herdal   -JARANDandJENS

  2. +1 here for a GH3 Shooters Guide, I would buy that hands down. Last bought your Anamorphic Shooters Guide and found it a very interesting read.

  3. Andrew, please excuse my curiosity, but why did you delete the previous post which contained some criticism? If he was talking nonsense, you could have easily responded with some facts. Now it feels like he did have a point and you acted like the Russian dictator on that other forum. Not that I doubt your integrity or honesty and I haven't bought the book, but if it contains a lot of research done by the Magic Lantern team, maybe you could consider donating a small part of the profit to them. Nonetheless thanks for making our lifes easy with your website and books!

  4. I don't want to grade before I edit, nor do I want to edit DNG so proxy and reconform seems sensible. So raw to dng, then turn these DNG sequences into little H264 or DNxHD proxies for editing. Then send this sequence to AE or DaVinci and replace the H264s with the original DNG sequences for grading. Grading before editing seems like the wrong way round to me.

  5. If Andrew's book can get me up and running shooting and processing RAW without having to spend countless hours researching, and I'm sure it will...then I think $20 is definitely reasonable. I'm buying mine now, and will be happy with the knowledge that I'll be supporting the guy that brings us this fantastic site.

  7. Hey Andrew, I also picked up your book and wanted to thank you for all of the resources here as well as your original GH2 book... Whist I don't post very much, I am on this blog almost daily. Keep up the great work!

  8.   The stopper on mine was a plastic bump that was easily removed with the dremel. With regard to making a new stopper in a more favorable position, I don't believe that it will work. As I recall, the new stopper would need to stick out past the barrel, getting in the way of the full range of focus. It's best just to leave the barrel without a stopper. It's pretty easy to tell when you've focused too close and you're about to come off the threads (and it's easy to screw back on when you do).
