1. You're mistaking raw for flatness and low contrast. Just because you have access to something doesn't mean to say you should turn it up to 11 and bring the shadows hurtling into the mids. In my opinion, most of the time blacks should be black not grey.   Check out Hunter Richards 'Alexa LUT'. It helps people avoid grading decisions like that.

Turning red blood green with raw on the 5D Mark III Andrew Wonder (Undercity / blog) has just released a narrative short film shot in anamorphic (a modified Iscorama called the Wonderscope) on the 5D Mark III in raw. Here is a guest post from Andrew on the making of it and his take on the DSLR raw revolution. 4. I would agree with you that art does not have to "say" anything, but it should at least be moving in some way. Otherwise it just becomes another boring excuse for a "professionally shot" "test" video. And to get back to my point, Raw doth not (necessarily)  maketh art.

  5.   Art doesn't necessarily need dialogue to "say" something. I think it's pretty abstract and one could take away many things from it.

  6. interesting visuals and concept, though felt it would have been much better suited to a music video.

  7. I have done extensive tests with my hacked gh2 (driftwood quantum 9b 150mb/s) and the G6 using the same Carl Zeiss Vario sonnar lens on both and the G6 is much better image wise Panasonic have done a superb job with the G6 - its has a much finer gain structure alot less mosquito noise in the black and dark areas and is just as sharp as the hacked gh2 Its a no brainer the g6 is very very good - just buy one

  8. 1. A good film may appeal to the masses, it's doesn't HAVE to be a contradiction. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what we witness right now is absolute dullness as a result of EXCLUSIVELY trying to repeat former successes. 2. This justifies the equation 'a mainstream film is a bad film'. Exceptions only prove the general rule. 3. Spielberg, who now complaints in a chorus with Soderberg and Lynch, contributed to the misery. He is a master of the big budget movie as well as of the serials, franchises and remakes. And he is responsible for quite a bunch of terribly stupid movies. 4. So maybe Lynch has lost it. I don't know, but I accept that creative people can burn out too. Their work survives. If not for the masses, then the more for few. Rock'nRoll (cinema) is bigger than all of us ...

    DSLR with 10 bit out.

I wish there was one that did it to a card!  I don't want raw or big bitrates, but more colour information than 8bit would be really nice on a dslr
