1. http://vimeo.com/70387959   For this video, I shot with a slower CF Card (60MBS) that gave me 1152 X 864 resolution at 24 FPS in 4:3 mode without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 4 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 2304 X 864 in Compressor.   Anyone shooting anamorphic video in 4:3 with a 2X lens? Please share workflow and shooting tips.   Thank you.

  2. Maxmizer Vmax    I've seen many videos with the same gear I use and they show no blurry edges. Watch. for example, Nitzberg's vid of LA7200 on Vimeo. All clear !

  3. Thinking of leaving my 5dmkiii for this. The raw stuff magic lantern is putting out is awesome but I don't think it's quite for me (I'm having a hard time grasping all of the confusing information out there). Someone tell me this is the right thing to do. I shoot comfortably with one prime and one wide currently and am able to get just about every shot I want. Sigma 50mm f1.4 and Canon 16-35mm II F2.8L For whatever reason these are the only two focal lengths I need when I film. I seem to be able to accomplish just about everything I want with them. Will I be able to achieve similar focal lengths on the g6 with say, the panny 7-14mm and some 24 or 25mm ? Voigtlander maybe? I love 60fps and want to utilize it more in my films. 720p actually doesn't look too bad with sharpening on the 5dmkiii, but this g6 is telling me I can get more for my money.

    New BMPCC Footage!

http://vimeo.com/70676876   Wow that looks incredible! The only thing holding me back is the question if there is some lens out there that would cover the wide end...I would definately need some FOV that a 18mm would give me on a 1.6 crop, so, something around 6-8mm, right? And one question is really always on my mind when thinking of this camera...might it be too small? Can I shoot handheld with it, like I can with my 60D? Any thoughts? What do you guys think of the footage?

  7. Great work! There was only one thing I found out of place - I would have preferred having the water faucet mixed down far lower. Try mixing it lower, and I think you'll find your piece even better :)   Cheers!   (edit: for clarification, I'm on my macbook speakers now, and the faucet stood out on those speakers)

  9. You misunderstood. This is genuinely a thread for shipping information. We have the other thread for general banter.

  11.   I don't think Blackmagic got cash advances from dealers from the preorder stash. Some dealers didn't charge a deposit. But I'm 100% with you on the sentiment. I can't support what Blackmagic are doing here and I'm seeing some very concerning cracks open up in the lines we've been fed. To deliver 12 months late is one thing. To look for all the world that they might do so for the 2nd year running on 2 more products is even worse. Delivering below spec is absolutely the cherry on top of my dissatisfaction with the way they are doing business. If you are holding out for a raw firmware update on the Pocket which you have paid for, just bear in mind that the BMCC has had no significant features added since it was announced, not even audio meters.

  12. Red shooter Ryan Lightbourn has been combining the Red Scarlet-X and raw shooting 5D Mark III on the same production. His aerial shots reveal very little difference between the cameras but also some striking observations regarding the 5D Mark III's raw prowess. 13. My personal workflow in premiere:   1) Set up a custom premiere project at the aspect ratio I want. 2880x1080 for 1.5x anamorphic, or if I want 2.40:1 / 2.35:1, I use 2592x1080 / 2538x1080.   2) Then I drop in the footage to the timeline, select it and go to Transform and do the proper width scaling (uncheck the box with uniform scaling) for the anamorphic. 150% for Iscorama, something around 1.7x (170%) to 2x (200%) for the Isco projection lens.   3) Now you will have the center crop of your footage, with the left and right edges going outside.   You could do the same while working at lower resolutions, but I prefer to work at 1080p height if I want to output some high-res version later on. If I want to output it for vimeo or youtube, I usually let adobe media encoder do the job of downsampling it.

  14.   as everyone knows LA7200 was built for AG DVX ... is not compatible with all lenses, is not compatible above the approximately 50mm, is not compatible with some lenses because, the distance between the objective lens and the lens of the LA7200 is too high (this is improved by putting a diopter from 0.25 or 0.50 between the lens and  LA7200 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci_PM-g1K6c&list=SP219BA51EFE970B89&index=54 ).   What goes well with: Panasonic is the best: 20mm F.1.7   but well with Canon 24-70 f2.8 or Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 Tokina 11-16   just try it   If you want, we do list, where it works well and where not ;)

  15. That's a property of this anamorphic, and also the reason why I got rid of it. Sharpness along the edges is terrible.
