1. Just watched Killing Them Softly (2012). I liked the movie a lot, but absolutely loved the look! Anamorphic porn :)   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDyaNnrgdp4   I was curious about the cinematography. Found a nice article about it, very interesting: http://www.theasc.com/ac_magazine/October2012/KillingThemSoftly/page1.php#   It's shot on Kodak film with Panavision lenses, but actually they started testing with those lenses on a 5D II and they wanted to recreate the 5D look with film        Here's a shot that shows this:       Anyway, check the link above and read it all.   I found it interesting to see so much shallow dof in an actual movie. And I have to admit, I loved it :)

  2. Perspective Aerials have released (in small quantities) a new $4500 rig which promises to replicate the performance of MoVI for much less than FreeFly System's $15,000 asking price. 3. I can get the 2x stretch directly in the camera LCD, but it uses too much processing power and recording stops after just a few frames. My build is a bit older, I think August 04, or something like this.   the Dual Iso build doesn't have the option for Anamorphic preview directly in the LCD.   The HDMI stretch is done through Zacuto's menus, if I enable the stretch in-camera, and the connect the EVF, it just looks normal, un-stretched.   I can get continuous recording at 1920x1152, but not 1280p. And HACKED mode works for me too. Am I just lucky?

    deal of the century!

DAMNED...!!!! I missed the 16/32...  :(   I love my Möllers 8/19 so much that there is an even bigger desire for the 16/32  ;)

  5.   I think the G6/GH2 don't fall under the 'not an implementation as bad as we find on most current DSLRs' category :)

  6. I won't argue about prices anymore. I set mine, and if someone disagrees, as you do, sorry for that, but unless it doesn't sell, I'm not putting it down yet.   About the question asked by QuickHitRecord, I'd go with option [A] every time. Knowledge is meant to be shared, specially when there is so little around the web and even less out in the world. hahahah.   If the prices go up, some people got lucky at the beggining of the hype, and some other will be happy with a good lens, even after paying a lot for it. A good lens is always a good lens, and the main way to determine it should be through shared knowledge.   Why does everyone LOVES and WANTS Iscoramas? Because there's plenty of posts, videos and people praising its quality. It's not about the brand, like modern advertising, I think it's about performance. No one owns an Isco just for the status of it. :P

  7. Really nice footage!   I'm with you on the movie mode & never going back to H264. It really does seem strange that none of the big firms have stepped up to produce something better & cheaper. If they are worried about their more expensive products, they shouldn't be, as pros will always buy stuff aimed at them & beginners/enthusiasts will go for the cheaper stuff to start off with. But this doesn't mean they can't give us something decent - hopefully the BM Pocket will shake stuff up just a tiny bit.

  8.   As the originator of that particular post (and other posts about anamorphic discoveries), here is a question that I pose to my fellow forum members: if someone finds an interesting anamorphic and there hasn't been much written about it online, should he/she:   [A] Post the information so that other people may also enjoy the lens, at the risk driving up prices? [B] Share it with a select group of people via PM or email? [C] Keep the information to him/herself?   I am curious to hear your thoughts.

  9. I was watching closely and after the raw announcement the cams went up around $50-100 for a month or so and now they're back to the same prices.  The 50D is too old and the raw capabilities too limited vs other Canon cams for it to get too sought after, IMHO.   It definitely would be a great raw starter cam for the money.  Get it, do some tests and figure out your workflow, then jump to BMD or Kine, etc..., once you've mastered it.  Personally I don't trust hacks anymore.  I had my GH2 freeze on a critical moment on a live shoot I did the other day, and that's it, no more hacks, that includes ML.   I'm either going to get BMCC MFT or Pocket cam with external recorder for safety.

  10.   Will ask the German distributor, I think they ship Europe-wide. No extra VAT or duty within EU, so you don't need to wait until CVP stock one.

  11. Looks pretty good however that very first shot (with the title and small box with demonstration) looked nowhere near as stable as the Movi demonstration where the guy is running in circles around it.   Actual shots looked good though, and much much more affordable.

  12. Vincent Laforet will obviously come out and extol how revolutionary this is right? I mean it opens everything up for filmmakers doesn't it as it is so much cheaper than the Movi.
