  1. It all started with the sensational announcement of MoVi. The possibilities with this gyro-stabilzing system are incredible. The technology of the gyro system isn’t a new concept but this new interpretation gives all filmmakers a new instrument to realize their creative ideas.   2. To me, this is pretty much the camera platform that the Canon C line should have been. No way I'm paying $15k for a camera that only shoots 8bit 1080P. Even the C100 is a jip. So if anyone is worried about this camera it's Canon, not BM or Red.

  9. On the European website, the raw port for the 4K output is a 279 euro optional extra and you can add it to the base 3199 model. But I will investigate to be sure on this.   The recorder price hasn't been announced so you're plucking $8k from the air.   As for the other comments on this thread, you need to raise the quality of your posts guys.

Arthurr I use them both in different situations.  Whenever I'm around water or very fast motion I use the 60 frame/.5 second mode because Twixtor has more to work with when creating new frames.  I'd say just stay away from birds/flying bugs and low light situations.  The regular 30fps works well 80% of the time.  When I use twixtor, I drop my 1 second sequence of RAW files into a 3 second timeline. right click on the sequence -> frame blending -> pixel motion.  Then I use the time remapping in AE to stretch the sequence out to 3 seconds, without actually moving the slider for time remapping (this gives Twixtor a blank slate to work on).  Then I apply Twixtor, change the input frame rate to 30 and the speed to 33.33% (and turn on smart blend).  I usually don't touch the other settings unless the exported clip doesn't look good.  Hope this helps!

  11.   Not too long ago resolution was the top topic around here  ;)   It's all important, once past a threshold of usability. Canon resolution was weak before RAW, now it's just good enough, and along with color depth and associated DR, gives new life to these cameras. RAW forces us to be more efficient with planning, shooting, and editing, as the workflow is demanding. This can be good or bad depending on what we are trying to shoot (good for a short film / movie, not good for R&G / ENG / Quick-turnaround).

  12. For mpeg4, you can install the free Quicktime-component "x.264", which appears in QT's or preferably MpegStreamclip's 'H.264' or 'mp4" -Export. Of the five best-known software-encoders it proved to be the fastest and the second best in quality (beaten by AME), whereas Quicktimes own encoder (working with all apps, including MSC and Compressor) was slow and the worst in quality. My recommendation: Export your final project from FCP as ProResHQ. Open this huge mov with MpegStreamclip, choose >export >as mpeg4 >x264. Depending on the plugin you get a few pages of 'options' But they are, er, optional, it' s enough to determin the right data rate and hit 'Go!'
