1. The idea that Chinese companies just steal designs and products is rather dated I think. Some do, many do not. Also, all the R&D in the world will do nothing if the thing can't be made, the relationship here is symbiotic.   I think 15mm aluminium tubes, baseplates and so on have been around forever too... the pricing of some-such rigs is obscene and unjustifiable. Claiming R&D on those is not defensible.

 2. Some people always only see the surface of the thing. I have a fellow student who just bought a BMCC 2.5k. I'm sure he has been reading how amazing RAW and 2.5K is. However, I don't think he has considered the amount of accessories he needs to operate the camera comfortably, I would say. External batteries, SSD drives, SDI monitor, camera rig, etc. And we haven't covered the post production yet. We all know the ungraded BMCC raw footage is dull and flat. You need to grade the picture to maximize the image quality. The work behind it is just.... On the other hand though, I've tried the ML raw on my 60D in 720p. I found the footages are quite nice and even better then 1080p in H.264. The color is natural and vibrant compared to H.264. I don't feel like I have to do extensive color correction and grading to make it look good. I also noticed the noise of the RAW is much more pleasing and very film grain like while the H.264 is just blocky purple digital sickness.... I always wet myself when I see some lovely film grain....and with anamorphic, it is just pure porn...

 3. Read my general approach here.   About me: Bad photographer, good storyteller. Find your personal strength and make it your unique feature, work on your weaknesses. For example, I like to propose to reenact the proposal (or the situation when the lovers first met). This is fun, the clients will allow you to direct many things afterwards, whereas otherwise they feel they hired a magician who makes their bush-league wedding look like the Venice film festival. Some videographers can.   Facts: > Few weddings in winter > If you want publish excerpts to advertise your business you have to be aware of personal rights and music asf. > Shit happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocqB6_y71xE

 4.   I co-authored that Metabones document, so I'm familiar with the figure :)   It makes no sense at all to me that your Sigma lens could vignette for video.  That is, assuming that the width of the sensor's active area remains 17.3mm when in 16:9 mode.  The Sigma has to cover a 28.4mm image circle for DX format, meaning that its image circle with the Speed Booster will be at least 28.4 x 0.71 = 20.16mm.  A 16:9 rectangle that is 17.3mm wide has a diagonal of only 19.85, so something is definitely odd here.  Does your m4/3 body have a variable active sensor width depending on the aspect ratio?   DX lenses we have tried on full micro four thirds format (21.6mm diagonal) with the Speed Booster without any obvious vignetting (at any aperture) include: 1) Sigma 30mm f/1.4 version II 2) Tokina 11- 16 f/2.8 3) Nikon 35mm f/1.8 4) Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5   The Sigma 8-16mm does have vignetting due primarily to its fixed lens hood shaped for 3:2 instead of 4:3.   I've also heard that the Nikon 17-55/2.8 works fine with no vignetting, although I haven't tried it myself

 5. I have set up a dedicated forum for the Sony NEX Hack here A guy named Someone 1.00 is able to hack the NEX series of Sony mirrorless cameras for higher bitrates in video mode and more. Discuss the hack here and support Someone 1.00 in his efforts. The video after the break shows the hack in action, and proof that it can be done.

 6. I think there should be a straight ban on everyone who posts more adverts than they do helpful and contributory posts or topics.  Also, a ban on any adverts (or discussion for that matter) for those damn red and gold projector lenses.  I swear I see more adverts for rail supports + complimentary multi coated projector lenses than anything else here recently.  I remember Andy Lee originally created these packages and an occasional post from him wasn't a problem, but now it seems there are about 20 more people cluttering up the forum with similar copies.   If they're not selling on Ebay, no amount of repeated adverts here will help.     For that matter...  What the hell is a carl zeiss 50mm f1.4 nion mount and a marshall 7" monitor doing advertised here?  They have zero to do with anamorphic shooting!
