  2. Okay..... Just did run around the block ..... It's so light, it tends to wobble a bit in your hand ..... But I really like it......

  3. Thanks! I'd actually already seen some of your test shots when I was searching for stuff shot on the G6, but hadn't seen the final piece. I should have a D5300 in the next couple of days and believe I'll be mostly satisfied with it for my needs, but I'm still intrigued by the G6. It's going for about $500US now, and from your video and other's I've seen, it might be worth getting in addition to the D5300 for no other reason than being able to play with a MFT camera with a speed booster or one of the knock offs. Has anyone here compared the knock-off speed boosters with the pricier Metabones one? Your video looks excellent, and proof that I'd be plenty satisfied with the image a G6 can produce. Glad it was suggested to me by Matt, and thanks again for the sample!

  4. And he totally missed the real point of that particular reference, but that's okay.

  5. Oh... and btw .... you see how finally lenses and cameras are finding a new relation ... with cameras becoming one day what I thought all the time: Throw-away sensor boxes... ;-) GM1 + Sigma 170 - 500

  6. I think it's kind of mute to set the GM1 against the BMPCC other than Andrew did - show that the video side of this little box is also unexpected great. One is a happy little work-pony, the other a high velocity bonsai-cheetah. RAW is better than AVCHD? Yes, it better should. But AVCHD is not all that bad. GM1 is a 700 € sneak & carry lightly photocamera that has, nearly as a side-effect, great video. Have mine since yesterday and it is really interesting what it is able to achieve. And it comes with a slow but excellent zoom. I may later get an BMPCC too, if my wives budgetary plannings allow it :-) ...and yes, this one is probably in a different class .... but also price-wise. For good reasons. For people who also want to take excellent photographies & video & want to get a pack of features coming with the camera, the GM1 is an excellent addition, especially to an already in place MFT system. And Andrew is right - my Voigtlaenders started a new love affair with this one.

  7. The version now intercuts better with Panavision anamorphic lenses and the version before intercuts better with Iscorama anamorphic lenses.

  8. Hi, here is one promo-video in which Nikon V1 was used for slo-mo. Workflow is described in comments section. - few visible clitches are mainly my fault 'cause i was bit lazy working with motion vectors in Nuke <iframe src="//player.vimeo.com/video/80891136" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> <p><a href=" ">Daniel Blinnikka - Purjelautailija - "Going for gold"</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/lomagraphics">Loma Graphics</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

New Nikon D5300 with Expeed 4

If you go to the video's Vimeo page, in the comments he has linked to a download of a short full-res shot. There's lots of annoying autofocus, but in the focused bits you can clearly see the footage is very sharp, the noise looks very pleasant and I can't see any aliasing. This shot is at 1250 ISO.

IMHO the sharpness of the Lumix cameras is only unpleasant when using MFT glass. With FF/legacy glass (and especially coupled with a speed booster) the high resolution is wonderful.

  12. How to use raw...   Press record.   Swap card when full.   Record audio separately.   Edit in Resolve.   Sync with the audio.   It ain't that hard… alas devil is in the details… and that is why I wrote the book.

  13. http://vimeo.com/60135187 Let's pit the $700 Nikon D5200 against the $3000 Canon 5D Mark III and see which one comes out alive.

  14. Downloaded the 1080p onto two and half grands worth of grading monitor here, it's a comparison I'm really interested in! Well, using a nice monitor the 5D MKiii is definitely better all round for me. They look much closer on my normal Dell but it's still winning it. Mainly on detail level and overall "look".   But the point is that the D5200 gives you something very close to the much more expensive 5D MKiii for cheap, quite a jump in terms of budget video, and a bit of a shame for Canon.   And for those with heavy investment in glass that's not compatible with Nikon, like me. Still, since Black Magic camera is are nowhere to be seen for most of us, I'm leaning towards the 5D MKiii now. They hold their value so well I can always sell it is BMD cams become a purchasable reality before 2013 is over.   What a shame that is actually a prospect though, that they'll be delayed for that long... who knows what will be out by then.
