  1. for the OP.... :D "People Attach More Value to Items that they Own # Group 1: shown an assortment of random, trinket objects: rubber bands, paper clips, beer cozy, post-it notes, etc. They were asked to value each objectall were roughly valued the same. # Group 2: shown the same objects, but were told that they could keep the beer cozy after the experiment. The value of the cozy doubled for these respondents.

  4.   There is the Fair Use disclaimer though don't forget. Complicated and no guarantee, but some work can use copyrighted material with no permission.

  5. It will appear wider with the MBSB than without it. It won't appear wider than on a FF camera. The GH4 is 2.3x crop in 4k mode, not 2x.

  6. An Olympus OM 2 is a full frame 35mm stills camera your gh4 is a mirrorless digital camera with a x2 crop factor on your lenses so your 50mm OM lens is longer on your gh4 by a factor of x2 (100mm FF equivilant) You do need to read up on this as crop factors and full frame, they have different looks. Im sure your speedbooster is working fine - if it has a lump of glass in it it will be making your 50mm OM lens x0.7 wider just remember you have a x2 crop to factor into it all

  8. Hello Everyone! I'm a huge fan of this forum and I'd really like what Andrew has done for the Indie Filmmaking community. Anyway, here is a video I'd like to share with you all about my trip to Yosemite with the GH4. It was raining, snowing, and sunny in one weekend so I was very fortunate to catch all of those elements in such a short span of time! As for the GH4, it was completely drenched in rain and snow and it still survived! I absolutely love this camera and I found it to be much more practical and enjoyable to shoot on than my BMCC and Pocket Cinema Camera. I can't wait to post my video review on this camera. I'll be comparing this to the 5D Mk. III Raw, BMCC, and Pocket Cinema Camera. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it, and any questions and feedback is welcomed! Thanks!

  9. No need to pay, I'd be happy to give you some footage once I get less busy. I'm curious to see your results as well.

  10. I've got an Oct-18 50mm front with 75mm Lomo prime, PL mounted and used on a PL converted 7D. I put a 93>82mm step down on the RAF adapter and use 82mm circular diopters/ ND's/ caps etc. This setup does not vignette on APSC. I also can put an 82>77>82 combo of step rings upfront to create a lip for a clamp on mattebox. If your squarefront is Oct-18, you may have to shave the bolt head of your front lens rail support bracket to get the RAF adapter to fit flush. If your LOMO is Oct-19, you wont have an issue. I just tried it on 5d3 (duel focus configuration) with 85mm taking lens - does not vignette, not sure if that answers your question.

  11. That would be awesome, I need a camera for practical effects, your ungraded footage would be a really good test. I'd be willing to buy it too, with no intention to reproduce or use in any way, other than just testing in different grading tools, if that helps. Thanks.

  14. I make 3-4 wedding videos each year. The couples I shoot choose their own music for very particular reasons, mostly some kind of emotional connection to a song. It might be the first song they danced to, or a song that was popular when they first met, ... What matters to them is that it's THAT song. NOT a song that sounds a bit like it, or has a similar vibe, or a cover version ... What I have been doing until now, is use that music in the wedding videos (including the online streaming versions), AND include proper credits and a direct iTunes link to the song(s). This is the best I can do right now, since publishers simply don't care about clearing songs for this kind of use. Believe me, I have tried, and have never ever received a reply, let alone a quote. I would be very happy with an easy, accessible online system where you can pay for sync for popular songs. For all my other work, I find plenty of material at themusicbed or even the Vimeo music store.

  15. Get one made... I hope that doesn't sound dismissive, but I've literally never seen one for sale. And if i sold you one, I'd need one... I'd imagine most people with any sort of access are in the same boat. Also, frankly. i'm not sure a leather and velvet lens cover that's fourty years old is even a good idea. Every time i look at my 35mm I'm terrified that there is mold lurking in that skanky old lens cover, then fearfully pack it with more dessicant.

  16. Read my post, I didn't say crap work, music lifts up any type of work, good or bad. It's a huge part of the cinematic experience and of equal value. And checkout the history of David Lynch- whom you mentioned, and his composer Angelo Badalamentii, they started working together on blue velvet when Angelo was essentially an unknown. That collaboration has produced some of the greatest and most original cinematic moments ever. Likewise Clint Mansell had never written a score when he first began working with Arronfkski, they've been together ever since. Maybe I worded it poorly, but working with people who are accessible to you isn't a derogatory suggestion, just because Angelo was fairly unknown, doesn't diminish his amazing talents! Somewhere on soundcloud there is the next Badalamenti looking for his/her lynch to partner up with and make something new, hope I find him/her first :)

  17. My thoughts exactly. Although the meme does appear to be a highly efficient nerd trap, even here. Which is somewhat surprising. But still, it's bollocks. Utter waste of everyone's time. Another nerdy meme not worth propagating. Seriously people, no one is 'cheating' you. Forget the jargon and ignore the nerds, just grab your camera and go out to shoot something with it. If the footage or photos you get look good to you, great, that's all that matters. Regardless of the sensor size of your camera, or the F-stop carved on your lens barrel.

  18. this is a good thing as the music industry has been decimated in the past 10 years by internet free downloading. (I have personal experiance of this , budgets have been hugely slashed by record labels as everyone is downloading for free) If you use copyright material you should pay for it and have permission. nuff said. This has happened on Vimeo as the Music Industry is finally reacting and trying to get its house in order 10 years too late. Too many people think the internt is a free for all.

  19. Legitimate question to you Andrew, not trolling here. Would you be okay with me downloading footage that you have shot and re-editing it or repurposing it somehow for my own creative use without permission? Uploaded to vimeo for as a personal or experimental project

  20. As a musician turned video guy I'm not at all opposed to this. I hope that this encourages cinematographers/film makers to go find local musicians and work with them. I sincerely hope that it does! I started shooting a personal documentary on a local coffeehouse about a month ago, and two local musicians were practically begging to help score it. There are tons of musicians out there, just as there are videographers. Much like the video industry, it is now easier than ever to create music at home on a limited budget. Of course having the ability to write my own music makes this a non-issue for me, so I do understand why it is frustrating to so many. The way I see it though, the opportunity for more collaboration should only lead to better creative potential!

  22. The dynamic range just gets me on the GH4. I preferred the 5d in every shot. It jumps out at me in highlights mostly.
