  1. First impressions review The long awaited active Canon EF mount Speed Booster adapter for Micro Four Thirds is finally here. I have a review sample, currently putting it through a few shoots to see how it performs. This is not the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera version but the general Micro Four Thirds mount adapter, so fully compatible with all Panasonic and Olympus cameras including the GH4 and E-M1. Finally you can use all your Canon lenses with full electronic support for aperture control and stabilisation. Read the full article here

  3. Hi, Again innovation are coming in phones, first :/. So Instagram released a new iPhone app, Hyperlapse. It stabilises video using the accelerometer of the iPhone. It works AMAZINGLY well (better than the EM-1 stab !!!) Just tried it myself... Of course the purpose is then to accelerate the video to make it an hyperlapse as demonstrated here: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id740146917 But you can choose 1x speed and it just makes the video 100% stabilized even when running, with no warping effect ! incredible. It takes 1-2 second on the iPhone to "stabilise" a 1min video !! Just imagine a GH4 with an accelerometer inside, and with the hit of a button you get your clip stabilized like this !!! Definitely the future, if camera makers think 2 seconds.... Byebye steadicams, byebye Warp Stabiliser, byebye all the bullshit. Link for the app: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id740146917

  4. Things like this are going to happen more and more often as hardware becomes more generalized and the firmware and software that runs them becomes more specialized. Stuff like this obviously happens in the computer realm every day and has for decades, camera makers just aren't used to being hacked because they are so specialized in function. I don't think it's unethical for Sony to disable features, in fact I think it's probably really common. They shouldn't be surprised that this happened though.

  5. Philip says that he's sure it would be shut down in the next firmware update...but wouldn't that firmware update have to offer something useful to make people apply it? If I was an f5 owner, I'd be sitting there thinking that this hack, with current firmware was extremely valuable - to make me apply a new version, that new version would have to offer something at least as valuable. Otherwise I'd stay on the same firmware forever - because the camera works perfectly well right now.

  6. It is only a small iPhone app for the moment... The first one using this tech. Giving good results like this is amazing, it can only be better, and will be better on future versions. That's why I am plaised to imagine a real camera with these stuff and all the new tech that will be inside from then :)

  8. the Zeiss 50mm f1.8 Pancolar is a great lens classic Zeiss and almost as sharp as the 50mm f1.7 Planar - there is not much in it The Pentacon is a older Meyer-Optik Görlitz lens design carried over into the Pentacon range its regarded as not quite as good as the 28mm version of this lens by Pentacon (which is a Zeiss Jena DDR Design) this version is the Zeiss DDR design http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentacon-28mm-f2-8-Praktica-bayonet-PB-mount-lens-c-w-caps-pouch-/161398035922?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item25941295d2 the 29mm is abit of an odd ball all the above are inferior to the Canon FD 28mm f2,8 - which beats them all in my book and is very good and cheap on ebay ....
