There are several versions, I have this one that's slighly less golden but it's short. It's has the inscription f=75mm-2.95in and came with such a taking lens screwed in. I know there are versions that are longer. It cost me 90€ last year. Here two samples with the nikkor 135 f2 DC (it works fine until 85mm, you also can use a 60mm on FF but you will get vignetting until you crop to 2.35:1 or a little less and you need a lens with a small front element)

  3. There is NO WAY that Panasonic, Sony, or gh4 have better image quality than Blackmagic cinema and Pocket. And please don't bring up resolution, cause I don't care about that element. When it comes to color science and dynamic range, and subtleties of these images, Blackmagic is better.

  4. Rob, LG has an upcoming 31" 4096x2160 display, LG Electronics 31MU97-B, 31": http://geizhals.eu/lg-electronics-31mu97-b-a1162783.html Preorder pricing is from 1300 euro. Resolution: 4096x2160, 4K+60Hz Luminance: 320cd/m² Contrast: 1000:1 (static), 5000000:1 (dynamic) Response time: 5ms (Manufacturer measurement...) Viewing angle: 178°/178° Panel type: AH-IPS Backlight: GB-r-LED-Backlight Color gamut: Wide Color Gamut (99% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB) Hardware calibration. At that resolution there aren't so far any other options, and this one was just recently announced. Maybe someone else will make displays with 4096x2160 resolution soon enough once that one is out, but 3840x2160 will for sure become the commonly available resolution for highres displays.

  5. What is it about new cameras that has such a magical power to transform professional filmmakers into arrogant, bratty children? It's incredible, really.

  10. I don't see how 4k would have ex Tele, as I believe 4k is a 1:1 crop on the sensor already. You can use the 4k footage and crop to 1080p in post processing of course.

  11. The fact that this question was asked makes me very seriously question the intelligence of the consumer market, and I didn't have much confidence in their intelligence to begin with. Major points for the rep not answering it with "No shit dumbass"

  12. How so? That sounded like pretty typical and quite predictable stuff from the Canon reps on a business fair, I don't see anything to get all worked up about. Most of those answers were just fine, pretty standard stuff. More or less what one could realistically expect.

  13. Thank you for a real interview. Most interviews I read are from sites afraid to ask the hard questions and they look more like cheerleaders working with the marketing department. I enjoyed the respectful push to get important questions answered.

  14. Yes, keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. FWIW, you clearly said "the brand which launched the Revolution" (a brand = a business entity, a company, not a single product). A "broad statement" doesn't quite fix that. Your thinly veiled personal insult will not turn a brand into a camera, either. It will only make yourself look pathetic. But choose yourself.

  15. You are making this up. The D750 was announced on sept 12, images and final specs of the camera leaked out only a few days before. If it was out for a month already it would be all over the internet. Unless you are talking about people who have signed NDA's and receiving pre production cameras before the announcement for initial testing. But that list isn't very long and as far as I know dpreview, Imaging Resource and the likes aren't porn producers.

  17. I think we all know what the deal is. You have said it before, so theres no confusion: Video sucess on dslrs was an accidental success for canon. A nice suprise at the extra interest and sales. So they created the spin off cinima eos lin to carry the pro video forward and charge as much as the market will pay for it. The dslrs then just continue to be 100% stills orientated. The 7d mk1 and mk2 are mainly for sport protographers. Where the crop is an advantage (as long as the sensor is higher resolution) and high frame rate (with good autofocus) is of prime importance. The video is just an added extra. Its just there if they happen to need it. But kept at consumer level quality, with all video improvments like better autofucus squarely in the consumer arena.

  18. Maybe in 6 months to a year. Development on ML depends on the programmers actually owning the cameras and can be quite slow because of that. By the time it likely gets a decent ML upgrade, the 7Dii will be even more woefully behind the competition.

  19. Shot with both at Photokina and have the original files on my card if anyone wants them, I might upload.   D750 and D810 were too similar to tell apart without a proper shoot and more time with them.

  20. For those who did not see it, an incredible production from Nikon Canada. Much much better than its USA counterpart. It is more static and much more in focus than the Family video above. The sharpness, details and DR looks very good. More so that in the BTS video they say they used only the internal codec.

  21. All these new anamorphic options are exciting in theory but where is the exciting footage? I think if this and the other newer options want to really move units they should have a DP do something impressive showing the results they can achieve when used well. The bent jello cam tests aren't enough when asking people to part with $800-4000. That never seemed to come with the letus or the slr 1.3x and I don't hear much about those since they have been released except FS posts.

  22. My fantasy camera would not be constrained by optical or sensor limitations. It would capture all light waves (visible and invisible) and combine them into an exploding HDR video rainbow that would instantly create world peace and harmony. It would heal the sick, feed the poor...dispense ice cream and winning lottery tickets for all the poor children in this world. Or an Alexa 65.

  23. The video is more about delivery format. And it's about professional cameras. The guys say that: - to get proper 4k you will need 6k camera - to get proper 2k they often use more than 2k camera. They are using right now true 2k (or more than 2k) professional cameras with perfect image quality: professional codec or RAW, no banding, moire, blockiness, digital noise and sharpening etc.. So they can produce stunning 2k image right now and the only thing they would like is more DR and more color depth. I agree with them - 2k output is sufficient (for me). But we are talking about professional quality true 2k. Consumer cameras is different story - until now they were not even true 2k and suffered from much bigger problems than DR and color depth. We had to deal with softness, banding, moire, rolling shutter, digital noise, low bitrate, false colors and different other artifacts. If you just add 10bit and 15 stop DR to this crap it would be just a little better crap. 4k recording format is one of the solutions for many consumer camera artifacts - not only resolution. Panasonic and Sony are making huge improvements in consumer level cameras from the other side. Full pixels readout, better codec (higher bit-rate) etc.: Sony A7S: great resolution -could say true 2k (it is not 4k camera [without other gear]), great DR, codec, low-light, picture profiles like SLOG... Panasonic: 4k cameras with high bit-rate, great DR and full pixel readout - it is huge step up for 2k delivery format - 4k downscaling means true 2k resolution, less banding, blocking, digital niose... For 2k delivery format Panasonic Sony and Samsung made HUGE leap forward in consumer (budget) level cameras, while Canon and Nikon did nothing. PS.: You want just 10bit and 13 stop DR 2k? Just get BMPCC, it has all of that and more (RAW). But if you want other improvements, here comes Panasonic/Sony/Samsung with true 2k delivery resolution, no moire, less digital noise, more professional settings etc..

  24.   Andy- hate to be "that guy", but this clip doesn't prove a darned thing.   You posted it earlier as well, and as someone else already pointed out there is so much motion going on that you wouldn't be able to spot a clean key versus a messy one in the first place. Not to mention it has been down sized to 480p. I mean, any HD camera downsized to 480p will work according to my explanation above about resampling. I'd say you could have probably shot this on an iPhone4 and gotten roughly the same results.    Just saying.
