  1. true indeed yes, shooting 4k for 1080 you could switch to internal 1080 in a push though when you need the extra wide angle..

  4. This was a total experiment, as i hadn't really road tested this combo too much & definitely not in a chaotic run'n'gun situation like this. The main problem was allowing the band to take care of recording the sound, which they inevitably messed up, yet again! So the sound is from another gig... BMPCC (ProRes) 1 GoPro shot RJ jinfinance Focal Reducer Mir-24M (35mm f2) + Isco Widescreen 2000mc x1.5 Anamorphic Adapter Genus Eclipse + Hoya UV/IR cut filter (30mins of Battery & Card space used during filming) I think i've had it with doing live music videos on my own.

Ok no worries, perhaps they have a linkedIn page coming, which I believe shows a more professional face(even though I'm not sure its fruitful or productive for me), I know the marketeers say you have to be on facebook, but it all seems a bit of a vacuous fad. I thought release was any day, so wondered why no answers, no chatter,, and no night stuff with flares yet. Some threads are far more interesting when they deviate from initial topic. Monday Morning 2nd coffee & a storm in a teacup :)

they've told us the focus range ios 0.5m-inf. they've shown the focus rotation in their how to install video The helicoid is obviously mounted further back to save costs (if it was the diamater of the outside of the optics it would be a fortune to make - this is why the thing shrouds the whole lens. logic would tell you that if a cinelux anamorphic is paired with an f2 matching lens originally, then the lens can deliver f2 or batter on the 35mm format. logic would also tell you that they'll have selected front optics capable of delivering without adding vignette to the cinelux. it's nearly impossible to know what reflections might happen inside, but this is the only solution so it'll be a like it or lump it situation I imagine. most technical people are not also visually creative - probably why the tests are a bit lack lusture. the delivery of this rather lovely piece of well priced engineering is astounding and his tests so far show anyone with a shred of knowledge on the dark art of using anamorphics all they need to know.

I havn't seen anyone ask for money yet. Commurit is compiling a list of buyers so he can go to anamorphic shop and get a deal for you. I sent an email to anamorphic shop asking to be put on the waiting list the day it was announced. no money was asked for in the reply, just that they would be intouch when it is ready to sell. so we know that up until this point answers aint available. it's the way specialist products are made and sold. until someone is asking you to pay for something they are not obliged to tell you anything. Let's be patient and I am sure once the product comes up for sale the answers will be there for you. The guy could have done a kickstarter and never delivered like 90% of the bullshitters out there, but instead is doing things properly it seems. Let's all grow up a bit and stop worrying so much!

  9. Yeah this is actually a pretty big deal. The tide is turning and Adobe are doing really well right now. Apple fucked Final Cut and Avid have major problems on their hands with Media Composer running like garbage compared to the competition.

  10. When you are the company selling the software it is edited on it matters a great deal. They aren't advertising it to soccer moms. They are advertising it to editors. You know, kinda like how Arri crowed to all the cinematographers about how all the Best Picture nominees were shot on Arri cameras. And to put this in perspective, Final Cut Pro wasn't considered to be a credible platform for editing "professional" movies on until Walter Murch used it to cut Cold Mountain. That legitimized it in the eyes of many and that's when more "professionals" began using it in earnest. Ever since the debacle that was Final Cut X rolled out, Adobe has been aggressively pursuing the segment of the market that Apple was abandoning. With this announcement, I would say it is a sign that they have gone a long way toward succeeding.

For those of you using intel integrated graphics, they have dedicated hardware scalers, while there are better algorithms, they do a decent job, for those using NVidia or AMD which I expect to be the majority here, they use bilinear, a crude but cheap form of scaling that results in a blurred pixelated image with loss of detail. Have a look at the above link

  13. There's not much less impressive than bragging about what editing system is used to cut a motion picture. It's editing, for goodness sake. Where you splice the cuts matter, not the razor that does it.

Probably most of the customers (like us) already have such anamorphics. If not, buy one now! Even if the cheap 2x anamorphics (like the Schneiders - they go for as low as €100) will double our triple in price, the total cost will be way lover than previous single focus options like the Iscorama.

The only thing worries me that they are relying on 2nd hand anamorphic lenses, and we all know what happens when the demand gets high on things like that. The FM lens's price might feel fair, but in 4-6 months the 2x anamorphic prices might go double or even triple. And that's not a pleasant thought.
