I own a macbook pro from 2009 where I struggle to edit my short video, I use AE , premiere pro, but i would like to use resolve da vinci. At the moment I cannot afford a new computer so I have to wait and save some money. I spend a lot of my time read and learn from this forum. Thank you all.4 points -
It takes two clicks to find comurits real name. It's good to be cautious, there's no need to be paranoid and start accusing people. There hasn't been any mention of sending money in advance. It's still just a list with people that are interested. This could work perfectly without sending money in advance by the way.3 points

WTF Andy, why? Because he has a point on your business? How do you know this FM lens is cheap to manufature? Nobody has seen it in real life. And does the price matter? The maker can ask whatever he wants, even if it costs only $5 to make.3 points

Ah come on. And if he is involved or not, who cares. Let's not accuse each other. Such a small community here, don't kill it.3 points

Hi all, While I agree with almost all of the posts here - both positive and negative, the thing to bear in mind is this camera is a Beta, not a production model. I'm the person who's been described in other posts as a mythical creature - an amateur videographer who can afford the price and time to invest in this. And I see that the potential this camera gives, especially with ML on-board, would be an opportunity wasted if I didn't commit to it. I've a very long relationship with Linux and have tinkered with the ML code so for me a quick fiddle with the source code and a re-compile is no big deal. I know I'm in for a bumpy ride, but for me who has the luxury of not having to worry about screwing up paid gigs, and benefiting from a bleeding edge systems, is really exciting. So for all of you nay-sayer, sit back and just let this project pan out. It may crash and burn, but it also may be the best thing ever (well, for raw video cameras that is). Just for the record I'm from a background similar to maxotics - been using ML for a few years, absolutely stoked when they developed Raw video, bought a 50D and really enjoyed the quality of the results - became frustrated somewhat with the core ML devs (but still an avid supported for what they've given me) jumped ship to BM and so enjoying my BMPCC because 'It just works' and enjoyed the rollercoaster of a ride with their firmware updates so much that I bought a seconds BMPCC (bugger still hasn't arrived yet though - effing BM and their Swiss distributers!) And while I've been reading EOSHD for years, this is the first post that I feel so passionate about that I've created an account to post with.3 points

Dog Schidt and SLR 1.33 Anamorphot on a7S
Zach Ashcraft and one other reacted to kazkioken for a topic
Some various shots using the awesome FF58 and other with a Voigt 50 1.5 (@2.8) together with the SLR Anamorphot. Yes the low light ability is pretty insane on the camera, I wish I brought my Ninja Blade to record the footage though. Hard to pack everything while on vacation since, you're supposed to be on vacation lol. I hope there will be a 4:3 mode for 2X anamorphic on this camera one day...we can wish :)2 points -
Also, are you using an ND filter or any other filters (i.e ProMist)? Again, stunning work!!1 point

I do think if you are sending money in advance for this item collectively as a group on this forum to get some form of discount, then you should find out exactly who you are dealing with. I have said this before no one knows who anamorphic shop are. I personally believe people should post under their real names if money is involved. You all know my name as I post as me - Andy Lee - from day one on here. As one of the Mod team on here just be cautious and know who you are dealing with when you send money.1 point -

Material & production cost is not everything. You really have to count the time and effort needed to manufacture a unique product. I wouldn't spend countless of hours making something custom as this. I'd rather pay a price premium for the time and effort someone else has put into making the product, since I don't have the time to do such customizations myself. Same thing with the Dog Schidt Optiks lenses I bought. I could probably spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to mount Helios lenses to my Nikon camera and find some really cheap Helioses in auctions. But DSO lenses were affordable enough that I rather pay for someone else having spent time to figure out a solution ready-made for me (besides the other custom options provided by DSO). When it comes to my Ultrastar, it's pretty much lying in the shelf, useless since I can't be arsed with the alignment and dual focusing. This product would finally make it useful. Of course, I'd rather see that the price is as low enough as possible, but I can still understand that for a custom unique product like this - there has to be some kind of price premium for the effort that went into making this.1 point -

The C100/C300/C500 do not shoot true 24p!
andy lee reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
No that's not right. Not every sensor does it. Some read at 24fps. Some read at 60fps. The C300 isn't doing true 24p. The sensor does 4K at 60fps, and Canon's image processor use this to deliver HD at 30fps/24fps. It was designed to do as clean 1080p as possible. 444 in fact. Although it's stored as 4:2:2.1 point -
I understand what you're saying but using Magic Lantern as an example of what could go wrong with an open source project is probably misplaced. The first thing is that ML does have many problems, but ML is not the problem. The problem is the nature of the project - basically ML is a Hack, not really a development project. But why is that? Because the software/Hardware that they are deloping for is closed and Canon just will not/have not given them an ounce of help. Therefore, they have to reverse engineer everything. Most of what the ML team does is guess work and trial and error to figure out how the software/hardware works. Even so, ML has been wildly successful. So much so that AXIOM had to resort to ML's thriving community to reach their funding goals. They said that much themselves. That's what I call success. Rental houses, pro shooters as well as enthusiasts - if you own a Canon body you probably have ML running on it (Who shoots h.264 anymore?). If you want to use an open source project as an example, then try referencing projects such as Mysql, Mozilla and there are many more! It seems to me that you missed the point completely - the reason for an open source cinema camera is so that you take the guess work out of programming! . . . No guess work, no faulty software. If the hardware fails every now and then, well, Black Magic will probably understand (if you know what I mean) - that's why we have AXIOM! You are right about not many amateurs being able to afford it, but then again if ML was not around you couldn't afford a real cinema camera that shoots 14-bit RAW anyways. BTW, who's to say they will not make a sub-$1,000 camera - in fact I'd be willing to bet that's in the works.1 point

I already had a 72mm clamp floating around in the draw that came with a morphic lens from years back. Similar to the vid-Atlantic ones, basically a tin tube with rear 72mm thread and nylon screws, not at all Redstan quality but holds it well enough for testing with. As soon as the FM lens is in my hands, I'll probably throw that clamp in the river.1 point

The thread is not a standard step ring gauge. it's very close to 67mm. I put mine on the lathe and took most of the thread off, then did the same with a step ring. leaving a small amount of thread on both means you can push a 67mm-62mm step ring onto it using a bit of weight and two flat surfaces.. however you'll never get the ring off again unless you saw it off. Hans_Punk knows about a special adaptor with the correct thread on it.. Maybe he can chime in.1 point
