Shooting a Feature on **** cameras, can you guest it?
JazzBox and one other reacted to Wild Ranger for a topic
Thanks everyone! Yes, those are Nikon colors. That´s one of the main reasons why I chose for shooting the movie with this cameras (D7100, D5300). Also the image gave me some nice dreamy look that really help to sell the atmosphere of the film. Also, some old Nikkor 35mm f2, creamy shots are in this teaser ;)2 points -

I am mostly looking for a wide (21-25 range) and a 50mm. I'll be picking up the Sony 70-200 for AF and image stabilization. I'll look into these, thank you sir!1 point -

these are the lenses you should be looking at the general thought of view is that zeiss stopped their deal with Contax Yashica then made new sleeker housings and its the same optics inside these newer zeiss lenses you where looking it , these are all C/Y mount 50mm f1.7 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carl-Zeiss-Planar-50mm-F1-7-Contax-Fit-Lens-/171498620996?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item27ee1d4844 25mm f2.8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carl-Zeiss-CONTAX-Distagon-2-8-25-25mm-F2-8-G-Germany-adaptable-EOS-A7-/390941670550?pt=DE_Foto_Camcorder_Objektive&hash=item5b05f07c96 28mm f2.8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXC-Contax-Carl-Zeiss-Distagon-T-28-mm-f2-8-/181555591858?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item2a458e7ab2 35mm f2.8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXC-Contax-Carl-Zeiss-Distagon-T-35mm-f2-8-35-2-8-AEJ-Canon-4-3-5951126-/271501357737?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item3f36bdf2a9 I dont know the exact focal lengths you want but this is the range of Zeiss that are very very good and still affordable - stick them on a speedbooster and they become wider and sharper and f2!! Or just get a Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 IF ED - it covers the above and is killer glass and on a speedbooster is also f2!1 point -

very good , very sharp , great zeiss colours and nice blacks also very expensive each. I would get a set of Zeiss Distagons and Planars in Contax Yashica mount just as good and alot cheaper then stick them on a speedbooster to make them all f2 save a load of cash ....1 point -
start saving up this wont be cheap! the world longest PL mount cinema zoom ! coming soon to be used on every major sports event on TV ! have a read about it here on Mathew Duclo's web page http://matthewduclos.wordpress.com/2014/10/16/canon-announces-worlds-longest-cinema-zoom-50-1000mm/1 point

Very nice teaser. Good showcase of those Nikons!1 point -
the most important thing for a cinematic look is the lens you use and the f stop you choose , that dictatate the look the most , I personally cant tell the differance between 25p and 24p visually1 point

Shooting a Feature on **** cameras, can you guest it?
Wild Ranger reacted to Danyyyel for a topic
I made a lot of test of this camera on Dvxuser and for me it was the tipping point, that I would not buy any other brand camera because I had already invested in the system and that it was good enough. It was very near gh2 level of sharpness with much better DR and Low light and sold my gh2. I knew that if I could not produce good imagery out of it, it was me and not the camera that was the limiting factor. But go explain to many on the net that 4k etc won't make there work better, in fact it might make it worst because you will have to hide much more details so that it does not look fake, like in the hobbit.1 point -

Nikon 7100? (Anyway, amazing color grading!)1 point -
Thank you very much for your kind answer! The same 50hz here in Italy :) p.s.: I just saw Rupert Neve on your website... simply amazing! As recording engineer I love his 1073 preamp! :)1 point

It's so close it looks just as cinematic really. It's mostly convenient for shooting in 50hz countries, so I use it in the UK for example. TBH I sometimes use it in the US too, at 150-degree shutter ;)1 point

Just watch any videos on youtube. Iphone 6 plus is excellent. Great colours and range (it looks almost semi hdr) Excellent stabilisation, really good detail without having to record 4k then downscale it. The normal iphone 6 is really good too, but the +'s optical stabilization just makes the stabilisation that little bit better. The Z2 has 2 levels of digital stabilization. The 2nd level can only be used in HD which isn't that detailed. 4k can be taken with the first level, but If you compare its 4k to that of a samsung it is really soft. I think its the lens. Stills look soft as well. So even with 4k I dont think you are getting the detail of the iphone 6/6+ in HD. The samsungs in 4k have more detail, but to me the image is too contrasty with no range and over sharpened. The fact that you already use Iphone, Its a no brainder. Get the +1 point

Anamorphic lens or Dog Schidt Optiks w/ oval aperture?
Cosimo murgolo reacted to richg101 for a topic
glad you like the look of them:) I don't really want to do business dealings on the forum, but i believe the sankor will be pushing it on full frame before cropping away the sides. However the use of a rather low contrast taking lens on a relatively long and thin anamorphic can create lovely things since the anamorphic acts as a hood and controls some of the craziness from the ff58. The behaviour tends to appear suddenly when a lightsource comes into the frame. a tint in the same colour as the coatings on your sankor will also help to integrate the two lenses so they look like they were made to be together. The thing with sankors is that they have a really nice character to start with, and a 2x squeeze so are full of life to start with. a nice clean helios 44 should be on your shopping list no matter what. A 2x ff58 on its own might be a good move rather than going for something specifically for the sankor.1 point -
its a PL Mount cinema lens ....so Super 35 only it will not cover full frame. its not designed for photography at all.1 point

Your vimeo tags gave it away :) I was going to guess Gh2, but I would hardly say any of these cameras are **** Fantastic looking lighting in the trailer1 point -
can you imagine the bokeh drop off at the 1000mm end of the lens , i bet it looks amazing to have separation like that !1 point

Thanks Andrew for you highly valuable contribution DPRieview on GH4 video part. I understand you have lots of things to do at the moment, but is there a chance you give us your review of the FZ1000 as you promised on Sept. 15th ? << The Panasonic FZ1000 (see my first impressions here) is an absolutely fantastic camera for video. I’ll bring you my full review and footage later today.>> Thanks in advance1 point

Helping my partner pick his NEW camera.
Hitfabryk reacted to Tim Fraser for a topic
Hello, Steve Huff (more of a stills photographer) certainly raved about the Olympus EM1. You can see his review here. On this forum another user >posted a topic called "Still like my EM1" It's this video of skin tones that really got me wondering...if my own next camera purchase was really off. Most people seem to find it a joy to use the EM1 filming handheld with it's excellent built in stabilisation, also hugely useful for stills and being in New York that frame rate of 30p might well be liveable with? For portraits your partner might like the forthcoming LX100 you mentioned. It's 4K "photo mode" while recording video, means he could extract 8Mp stills from any frame of video(this link illustrates process and a try out with professional still photographers using video stream from a 1DC). Everything I've read describes "photo mode" on the LX100 as a feature you perform in camera.... hoping there may be post processing option on that too! You'ill want to hear about the still quality of the A6000 from the point of view you mentioned, ie coming from full frame, from someone who has both cameras. A portrait photographer could potentially stand further away from their subjects using the longer zoom range of the FZ1000, perhaps making them feel more comfortable but it does have a smaller sensor...and doesn't go near as wide in video as the LX100. Check if the LX100 can go long enough for your partner. If m4/3 is too small a sensor, I found this video tutorial most interesting; this tichy wee camera reportedly has the same sensor as Canon 7D and with adapter can take all canon lenses as well as the excellent native EOS-M fit 22mm f2 which is reckoned pretty sharp. Even the native kit lens is better quality than Canon's Dslr kit lens as the distance from rear element to sensor is less. The video was a great demo for me personally as to one way to rig for audio monitoring and capturing high quality audio. Bear in mind the EOS-M (with focus magnify feature of ML loaded and working DURING record) camera can record decent audio but it's preamps are not up to professional grade, but by feeding a properly amplified signal in, there is no post syncing. A pretty decent tutorial I thought and well worth a watch perhaps. How about this for a new EOS-M body and f2 lens :-)1 point -
I think this one is a rental only job , its nearly $80,000 !! ouch1 point

That is an exceedingly thorough rundown of the video capabilities of the GH4. Glad to see DPReview putting more emphasis on video.1 point

Imagine the kind of 70' opening zoom you could do with that ^^. New York city panorama zooms to a window and continues to zoom onto a handwriting, that's some clichee.1 point
