  1. SLR Magic Anamorphic 2x on the Panasonic GH4 (4:3) http://www.eoshd.com/2015/02/slr-magic-2x-anamorphic-anamorphot-on-the-panasonic-gh4-43/

  2. I'm very, very interested in this 2x anamorphic adapter for use with my GH4. Now, if only the GH4 could record in 24p when in 4:3 4K Photo mode... Would the SLR Magic 25mm f/0.95 be a good match for the Anamorphot?

  4. Filmmakers may want to chime in here. A lot of talk on-line about Sony A7s vs the Canon 'C' series of cameras. Especially the C100 and C100 ll. Not sure what most people prefer here, (we can go back and forth about resolution, dr, xlr, nd, etc...) However; if there is one thing that separates these cameras is the stealth factor. There is no doubt the C100 is a small camera....however.. This video below (I'm sure there's even better examples) was just shot in Paris, and if the shooter would have had a C100 or something similar, there's no way he would not have had a reaction - Some bad I believe. (especially the bit with the guy in a intimate moment with his girl) No doubt every single person looked at him, and saw that tiny camera - and felt safe - and had absolutely no clue in hell he was actually shooting video. Something to think about if you need/want this kind of footage, or...you're actually shooting a film and need to steal shots. Phillip Bloom was blasted by several people when he posted his original video with this cam - as it seems almost a tool for private investigators/ police. I do agree with Bloom's comments defending himself. Some people questioned his morality. I do not. If you're a filmmaker you'll probably do anything to get the shot. What you can get away with the Sony A7s seems almost criminal. (in a good way if you're a filmmaker). https://vimeo.com/groups/243026/videos/120768001

  5. Well it looks like I went through all that for nothing haha. Ah well I agree! iFFmpeg I will use if I need those options and can spare the day. But RockyMountains is just blowing through this footage! Love it

  6. Whee is AJA confirming that this is the exact sensor they used? Where is Blackmagic also confirming it? Hell, has CMOSIS said they both use the sensor? It was a well-known fact that Canon was using a Sony sensor in their new 5d, until Canon said they didn't. Where's the actual evidence it's the same sensor?

  7. Wow this thread got very personal. It's only cameras and "dog shit" talk! What's not to like? Onto the FS7.... the menus are really my only strong criticism of the camera for these reasons: The responsiveness is slow, which wastes time on a shoot. The naming scheme and menu arrangement is complicated - everything is everywhere. For example, I want to select codec and frame rates in the same menu option. This slows things down too, especially when you are shooting 4k and then need a slo mo shot. I would suggest ways to improve this by: Doing a complete overhaul of the user interface, structure of the menus and naming scheme. Improving firmware by making the buttons respond better. Do I think this is a deal breaker? Absolutely not - the menus are something you can get used to. It would be better to see an improvement - the camera is still the best option for the money and can match much higher priced cameras under skilled hands. I would 100% recommend the FS7 as it's a brilliant all-in-one solution, and can be upgraded to raw.

  8. True - nothing new like EM-5 stabilisation or NX1-does-everything features. Although I would still rather buy a Canon if my stills glass was mainly EF lenses. They know that too.

  9. It is a focus through adapter and as all focus through adapter not sharp beyond 5.6 or so. Therefore it is no competition for an Iscorama. What I like about it is that it is light. And maybe it is not that bad to blur the too sharp GH4 especially with modern lenses?! Otherwise I'd prefer the other new kids on the block like FM or Rectilux. Unfortunately I haven't seen real life tests from the Rectilux yet otherwise I'd go for that with Moellers. Also no support needed and easy swap as John pointed out. Furthermore I don't expect the SLR 2x to be sifnificantly cheaper then one of the above mentioned competitors.

  10. I think its funny that people with high priced cameras look at the NX1 as a toy or a joke but the 4k image quality is as good and better then a lot of other cameras out that cost much more. I would love to see the side by side shots from the FS7 and NX1 i would bet the NX1 is sharper and shows more details that's what i see from all the FS7 videos i have seen. I would think from low iso settings up to 1600 the NX1 has the better image that takes much less work to get the colors right from the camera and past 1600 the FS7 starts to take over. I would think they are both very equal on how they handle highlights with maybe the FS7 being a little but not a lot better. But when you can buy 5 NX1 cameras for the price of one FS7 you sure could use all the extra cash for other things. Plus the NX1 has many features no other DSLR or ENG style camera has If anything when they ever have a NX2 out i think that will probably be a dream come true if they can up the iso to match the A7s it all ready beats it for image details, features, video auto focus, 4k recording and price.

  11. Their not moving into software and other current sharing technologies shows where their commitment has not been. Whats maddening is Not just ML firmware but what Canon did in sending signals to others that turn out to be mixed signals …… As far as video goes... Canon early on by their participation in video signaled to third party venders they were committed to the market and cool accessories were developed and brought to market. Now we realized based on their reaction to Magic Lantern and their lack of participation in new media, they were not committed at all. Now as I search for a good little USB remote for my GH4, I find the cool affordable remotes were ONLY developed for Canon based on what those venders interpreted as Canon's commitment at the time. Upon reaching out, I find one vender no longer has the resources to develop a new product for Panasonic or SONY. The other is working on something - who knows how long that will take. The result for uses has been not good at all.

  12. Sorry to hear you just wasted your money! Send it back and wait for the NX500. The earlier NX models were total trash for video... abject trash. GH2 is MILES better!
