​Policar - I'm perfectly ok with Samsung's Lens line as I am NOT invested in the Giant sleeping "Canon" or Sony (Indeed SOny is better than Canon in innovation). Providing a camera that can get close to RED's results that introduces /utilizes the H.265 where footage takes a 5th of space, still photography and AF is close to excellent - at a sub $1.5k price is indeed a revolution (Referring to the NX1) Why woul'd I buy a RED for what $10K not including the storage needed and lenses ? We can all argue on ISO and DR performance - but from what Ive seen - unless youyre trying to shoot at 1lux - the NX1 does a fine job. At 800-1600 ISO I could not see a major diffeence between the NX1 and the high end cameras. So if I can shoot a theatrical film using NX1 - I will - at the end of the day 80% of the result is dependant on the DP's knowledge and even MORE important in the story/substance behind the film. That being said - would have loved to see 4:2:2 recording internally and at least 10-bit so Green Screen work would be optimal - though I have seen some amazing results in 4K 8-bit and even 4:2:0 pulling a clean key. Policar - I'm assuming you are on the still photography side of things and video is not your primary concern?

​Classic case of salespeople talking utter BULLSH*T! Which I put down to 95% them simply wanting to make a sale at any cost, and 5% due to being utterly clueless and out of touch. As seriously come on... do you really believe the 16-50mm f/2-2.8 (which sells for merely a little bit more than US$1k) could perfectly cover FF too?

No-one has even shot anything with the camera but you already know the IQ it's going to be better then "a" Alexa?

What other 4k s35 camera is there in the price range that can use native mount as well as M39, MD, AR, m42, ef, Nikon and so on, because I would love to buy it.

​Ray Roman charges 9K + for a wedding and still prefers to shoot with a soft looking 5DIII and his main camera, a 1Dc and he still shoots everything in 1080p, he had a c300 but didn't like to use it and returned it, for wedding work the c300II is overkill, even for very high end ones.

It is likely whatever low light advantage the sensor has, that is cancelled out by the F2.8-F5.6 zoom. Just get an LX100 or stick a zoom on a GH4.

Has in built stabilisation and AF. Could be quite interesting on gimbals and drones. Clearly a niche product. Not sure why people knock these things so much.... At least they try new things.

Eric (a guy posting on dpr) did some tests on the lenses, and those resulted in the lenses covering at most an aps-h sensor size.

​Considering that 4 days ago, one of your realistic hopes for NAB was that this camera was going to have slo mo, and you only re-evaluated that to be the Mk3 later, after the rumour was released, I'm going to suggest that you're not one of those Japanese testers, neither have you had enough access to one that your job would be at risk

True indeed. Looking at the specs of the earlier versions of RED camera I was surprized to see the sensor was only 14MP - I believe the new one (Dragon Epic Camera) is 19MP - now I understand why Samsung wants to drop the Sensor resolution from 28MP to 20MP as you can gain much higher DR and fps by using less computing power. I wonder to how mch f-stops that would translate to (I think Red claims up to 18 stops using HDRx? - not sure what HDRx is :)) It feels however that Samsung is creating a revolution just as RED did when it took Prices of High End 2K/4K cameras to a 10th of the price - exciting times no doubt Cheers

​I used Slog3, but at 1080 180fps. Maybe the DR is way better at 24p, or 4k? The conditions were very contrasted. Black/White backgrounds with 1K Arri and KinoFlo fill. I rented it so I didn't have much time with it but I'd love to shoot again under more 'colorful' conditions. I loved everything about it except the frickin menus, and having to restart it constantly.

This is a rehersal of the norwegian entry in Europe's biggest song competition (ESC) where every country once a year submit a contestant to represent their country. Last years winner host the following year. The show is seen live on tv throughout europe by approx 600 million people and is one of the biggest tv-shows here. Audience watching the show live in the hall is about 20 000 people. After every country's had their go, each country vote and submit their countrys points and its all added up to decleare the winner. In 1974 Abba won with Waterloo so this contest have rocketed some carriers. My country Norway has won a couple of times and in putting the show on takes a lot of combined efforts. Your observations regarding tv vs audience is true btw. Its all done for tv, however, being there is quite fin and spectacular. Especially for us interested in the technique and such. Its a massive machinery.

the Zenit - Tair 135mm f2.8 is in my opinion the finest 135mm ever made - I have one it is an amazing lens the Mir 38b 65mm f3.5 is a great Keiv 88 /Pentacon 6 mount medium format lens the Carl Zeiss jena Flektogon 4/25 is a grea tlens you have bagged some very nice lenses there 206

It's funny, without all of the glitter and camera moves it's just a girl singing stationary on the stage. Pretty boring to watch live I would assume.

​ ​Premiere has mutli camera too that does a good job of syncing tracks and is easy to edit with. I've used it with continuous takes on multi cameras plus dropping in shorter takes for closeups and movement. I used to move things manually by waveform but after testing the multicam I realised it does a much better (and quicker) job.

Andrew, I Really like the look of the A7S on this. Great video. Nobody has mentioned the music, which I thought was fantastic. A very talented group of musicians, I checked out other tracks on SoundCloud. These guys have the stuff to make it big. Cameron's voice is amazing.

The CX00 line has the best image rendering available short of the Alexa (worse highlight rendering than the Dragon, but much better noise pattern and low light and color) and this is a STEAL. But the C300 Mark II has some features that are really disruptive (and oddly forward-thinking) so investing now might not be the best choice, especially among the IQ-centric audience that populates enthusiast sites. Canon (and Arri) are after the "pro" market. Which is all about "good enough" out of the box, because when you're "pro" you get paid and so hiring a crew and post team costs money. The focus isn't image quality. A low bitrate is desirable, as is an image that doesn't need (or have) much flexibility for grading... It's decent 1080p that has small file sizes in an easy-to-ingest format that attract the pros. Not because they're better or more talented (clearly they aren't judging by the quality of reality tv) but because they care about money first and a camera with small file sizes, amazing ergonomics, and a great image out of the box gets you the most for you money. For enthusiasts who enjoy grading and 4k and want the best IQ (if you like raw, don't get Canon–I can't stand raw because it wastes my time, so I love Canon)... go with something that's more techie and more fun. For wedding videographers and professional shooters on the low end, get what your clients prefer (Canon or Alexa more toward the high end). That said, I like to judge images based on images and not specs. Canon's 1080p is sharper than anyone else's (not sharper than others' 4k, though, but 99% of the world is delivering to 1080p) and their colors are better than anyone other than maybe Arri. Sony's images have been garbage until SLOG 3 started to fix saturation clamping and color matrices but it's still nowhere near Canon level. Dragon Color is quite good, however, on the Red side. But the saturation clamping, skin tones, etc from Canon... brilliant. WideDR is a fantastic color space and Canon Log is sort of functional for what it is. The C300 isn't an enthusiast product, it's for pros (who care about money they can make back over image quality and about ergonomics; this is why the 1DX is 18MP to the enthusiast's 5DSR's 50+ MP but the 1DX has killer AF and durability) and so it is hard to recommend Canon to most people on this forum. Especially when the C300 Mark II outclasses the Alexa. But it won't come cheap.
