Sometimes the Courts are not enough for justice, also why its relevant to discuss this
MrTony and 3 others reacted to Oliver Daniel for a topic
I have this general mindset to be careful of people who don't get on with animals. Some people only suit themselves. That's scary. Human relationships are incredibly complex, and when they go very wrong other complex humans need to make complex decisions about doing something complex to the complex people involved. That's complex. In this world - there is relentless cruelty going on which most of us are blind to. Governments kill. Children are slaves. Animals are tortured. Livelihoods are destroyed. Citizens are brainwashed. Corporations fuel greed. Materialism is a God. Canon won't release an affordable cinema camera. I've got eczema. My dog stole my last sandwich. I like Ed David. I enjoy EOSHD. I appreciate Philip Blooms camera reviews. I love my fiancé. My dog is awesome. My cat is beautiful. My Mother is funny. My Dad is now a fantastic memory. I'm going to be a Dad. My brothers are talented. My life is personal. I'm sharing my life with strangers. Could all be lies. But it's not. It's the truth. It's only my truth, maybe not someone else's. Maybe I'm deluded. Do I actually have a cat and things like that? Are they good for me? I'm crazy. Pretending to be, accidentally on purpose. The moral of my post is.... Erm, there isn't one. It's subjective. Take from it what you want. Or don't. I'm just trying to make sense of this thread and realised I don't know Philip Bloom or Sarah and can't be any help to them by talking about it on a camera tech forum. Damn!4 points -

The funny thing is, you can completely turn this around. You could say this is a 10 grand camera originally, but if you don't need certain features such as WiFi, Dual SDI or that battery grip you can knock the price down let's say by 1.5 grand. A different example: I like the URSA, but the iPad on the front annoys me. I would gladly save £500 and get rid of it, buying an extra CFast card instead.1 point

I couldn't agree more. All Oscar winner movies this year have been shot with Alexa 2.7K sensor. If Hollywood doesn't need 4K more than DR why should we? I literally love my 2.5K BMCC format and DR. I've dealed with the form factor easily (I use it on tripod or Ronin so no need to handle it), I love the SSD cheap storage I just miss more FPS for slomo. A BMCC II with 2.5K and 120 fps would be a killer camera! I wrote about it on BM forum but little response from users and none from BM.1 point

Thank you for the review Andrew, great camera and nice footage. You should work more on grading techniques. I find this terrible. Looking how great painters made color balance in their master works is one of the best way to start learning IMHO.1 point

I made a thing
SleepyWill reacted to mercer for a topic
Okay, I forgot to add one critique, it really isn't something you did wrong, because there is no wrong in these types of pieces. But in the middle, there was one or two cuts where you cut from one shot of the ocean to a similar angle of the ocean. I prefer it when you cut and show a completely different angle or a completely different image.1 point -

I liked it. You had some nice shots and a good command of the camera. If anything, I may have liked to hear some ambient sound of the ocean or the breeze, just to add a little more of a haunting feel to the piece, but all in all good stuff. If if you're interested in narrative filmmaking, how could you use that footage and turn it into a story? You have about a minute. What if I told you, it had to be 3 minutes long? What could you add to it, what story could you tell within the parameters you have already created? But as is, it is good.1 point -

Holy shit this is the most deliver I've ever seen come in a camera package. And for that price point. Oh my god. It's like it was born out of what people want out of a video camera.1 point -
Any idea what this is shot on?

Super 35 is the sensor size on most cinema cameras and on some amateur cameras as well (APS-C on canon DSLR for exemple) Super 35 has a crop factor (1.4 or 1.6 it depends on the camera) So for exemple a 50mm on a super 35 sensor will be a 70mm equivalent on a 35mm Full Frame sensor. The camera seems to be a DSLR probably a canon camera judging on the colors.1 point -
Is there any proof? Did he admit to it? Or are we just participating in a witch hunt? We live in a time where a reputation can be destroyed by one accusation and I would be very hesitant to publically shame the man until we have more information. If I'm wrong and it's true, I will no longer have respect for Philip and hope he and the victims get help. I hope it's false.1 point

ANDREW, I believed you partnered with Dpreview for video ? What is wrong with them ? Can you please tell them how this camera is shit and not what we want ? It must be a joke, this camera is sooooo 2010. We want a miroless camera from canon that compete A7S. Native EF Mount, 4K 60fps, 1080p at 120fps, IBIS, 16mpx, Full Frame, in the size of A7S with canon 5DIII body quality, and Nikon/Sony like Dynamic Range. That is what we want, not a 1" f5.6 fixed lens 2500USD stuff.... seriously. I am mad.1 point

Canon XC10 4K camcorder

Wow that promo video is going to take some beating for wooden model movements. She behaves like a cyborg. The dirt under my fingernails contains more life than is present in that video. The yellow-tinted clipped highlights are similar to what I get on the FZ1000 for $700. You'd think for $2500 they would have sorted that out. This camera tarnishes the Cinema EOS brand.1 point -
This is almost everything you would want in a 4k camera, right now, just amazing specs, except the price. At almost 16k $ this puts the camera in a different category, at least for me, i shoot weddings and it's impossible to justify this kind of camera for the prices i have. I might be wrong, but, in the long run this camera might lose it's resale value very very fast, with companies like samsung and panasonic that have nothing to lose ( they have no serious market share in any category, proffesional or consumer), anytime they could launch a little hybrid still/video GH or NX camera that does almost all of what c300 mk2 does and more, like 4k 60p. I hope i'm wrong and c300 mk2 has a long life, hardly the chance when samsung is serious about this and panasonic keeps pushing for more, right now nx1 is 1300$ body only on B&H. Still, amazing camera, right now this would be almost everything i would want for what i shoot, if someone here can justify the purchase, do it, it really is a very good camera.1 point

Lenses
Inazuma reacted to Gabriel Che for a topic
Hello. I've made a few special effect lenses lately for myself and friends, and recently decided to try and sell a few. What I have now is 35mm 2.8 with interesting blur and boke effect, and 58mm 2.0 enhanced flares with anamorphic flare imitation. They are M42 mount, so can be put on Canon or any mirrorless camera. If anyone's interesting please send me a message or reply here. I can sell through Etsy, eBay or directly, ships anywhere.Thank you.1 point -
The GH4 can do a bit better with DR by using iDynamic to bring up the shadows, then underexposing to protect the highlights: http://***URL removed***/previews/panasonic-dmc-gh4-sony-alpha-7s/141 point
