Testing quick skin tone test - with fujifilm look on Alexa and Sony F35 - seeing if they can intercut. So Amira was on 100mm ultra prime on sticks Sony F35 was handheld with 85mm ultra prime. Opps! Should have both cameras on sticks and with same lens! Being lazy helps no one. Anyway, I found the cameras incredibly similar looking. Hope this little test is useful in some small way to someone out there, anywhere. And if not, I am so sorry I wasted your time. I really am. If I wasted your time, please comment that I wasted your time and I will reply and say, "I''m really sorry I wasted your time." The other thing is that the f35 with odyssey 7q to dpx 12 bit is around a $10,000 solution right now and the Amira is about a $60k solution. Sure the Amira is a much nicer ergonomic system and has built in NDs and has many more nice convenient options, but really - you save $50,000. Because people don't like stuff from 2008. They need stuff from last year. It's kind of nuts how "gear-forward" everyone is. Especially now that most cameras are in the same ballpark of log or RGB recording and resolution and sensor size. Oh well, gotta keep selling the latest and greatest. So you save $50,000 - that's a lot of money. Just by buying something that was once new and cool and expensive but is now forgotten. This is what you can buy with $50,000 you save. A set of nice lenses A house. A really nice car Help save the planet's infrastructure Help save the planet's wealth discrenpancy problem. Shoot a feature film. Bail your friend out of jail. It can buy a lot of great things. Remember kids, the latest technology is nice - but the best stuff from 2008 still holds up. Go ahead, give it a try! It's fun to play with old things!2 points

Too Many Lenses?

I've shot a short film with the 110 25mm on a GM1. Even though I don't use that camera except for only certain tasks, I do love it. Great documentary stealth cam. Such an awesome set up with the a110 lenses, As you can tell from my avatar. I like the character of the glass and the f2.8 is, I think, ideal for cinema. Matched with the Panasonic IQ? It's pretty nice. It's truly amazing what you can/could make with that set-up --and you can acquire it via used gear for around $350.2 points -
Monitor for GH4 and BlackMagic Pocket

SmallHD just announced the 501 monitor, which is a HDMI-only version of the 502, at $899. It's ability to function as an EVF with the upcoming sidefinder is what really makes it attractive to me. Plus the bluetooth joystick control that will also be coming soon.1 point -

Too Many Lenses?

Yeah, not my thing either! I'm glad that when I bought them the aperture equiped adapter was available. Again it was a little pricey from RJ Camera, but definitely worth it to have so many lenses with such a small footprint. I'll get some footage/screen grabs from this combo up soon I have not had any of the pentax K stuff, I've had a decent ammount of the K mount stuff, mostly the M's, but not the K's. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled1 point -

To be honest, I just love Pentax lenses. I am really surprised more filmmakers don't use the M, A or my personal favorite the K version... Which was there model they put out in between the Taks and the M version. Supposedly they are optically identical to the Taks, without the radiation, and with a K mount. Beautiful, beefy lenses with great IQ.1 point -

Not off topic at all. Discussions are supposed to evolve. It looks wicked, would love to see some footage. I didn't know they made an adapter with an aperture. When I bought mine a couple years ago, people were doing diy apertures. Although, I am a mechanical type of person, I have no interest in making apertures or homemade adapting. Not my thing.1 point -

No problem. Check out this video and it shows the differences. I use an FX 1. Anything below that is very subtle and not worth it, in my opinion.1 point -
KineMINI 4K goes full frame with modified Speedbooster

I designed the ULTRA Speed Booster optics, and work with partners to manufacture the optical subassembly. Currently our only customer for ULTRA optics is Metabones. I expect that Kinefinity is sourcing cheaper glass from another company.1 point -

Yeah, we sound awfully similar. I started with the t2i, so I was a couple years behind you, if you don't count the dozen or so cartridges of Super 8 film and the couple dozen mini dv tapes from a consumer Canon. I knew a little about cinematography from my hapless attempts to load 16mm film into an old bolex in the dark. All I knew was I hated everything about that kit lens that came with the t2i. The first and only time I used it, I wanted to kick it against a tree. Instead, I bought a Vivitar 28mm. I didn't love it, but it was miles better than the 18-55mm. From there I tried some cheapo m42s and some series e lenses and some Olympus and some Rikenon m42 lenses and then I found my first real lens that I loved... a Pentax-M 28mm 2.8. I couldn't have been happier until I found a mint 50mm 1.7 for 25 bucks... Long story short, it took me awhile to find decent lenses and know what decent lenses even were. For the most part, I have been able to sell every stinker without a loss and have been able to get a half dozen, or so, keeper sets. Btw, I also have a complete set of the Pentax 110 lenses. I love the 20-40 zoom, the 18mm and the 50mm. Have you put together an aperture for them? I just use step up rings and fader nd filters. What a cool image they make though. How are they on the pocket?1 point -
so, could be that the lx100 is all you need, way at the low end of your price range and super light and portable. it's got to be the best budget 4k right now, the next jump being the nx1/gh4 for interchangeable lenses. The g7 coming out "soon" could be great for you, and possibly slightly better low light than the lx100, which is still pretty decent. you might be able to add a used a7s just in your price range, with like a fast, manual 30-ish mm, making use of the crop modes for different focal lengths. there are pretty good low light performers for way less though if it's going to be a rare occasion. might be worth getting an lx100 and just see if you really need anything else. lots of flexibility in that price range really. Hard to say exactly what would be your best bet1 point
