KineMAX 6K specs and raw footage
Joe Gunawan Fotosiamo and one other reacted to Robert Matthews for a topic
That's not actually true anymore. Kinefinity have/are changing the spec on what's included with their basic packages. Their "Starter" package is now $8999 and includes the following: 6K Raw Option 4K Hi Speed Option Free Assimilate Scratch rental for a year Kinestation Dual 3G-SDI Monitoring Outputs KineAudio Integrated Battery Plate KineMAG-120GB SSD Movcam Upper Handgrip The Kinemax works out roughly $2000 more expensive than the URSA Mini 4.6 when you add EVF and 1TB of media.2 points -
KineMINI 4K goes full frame with modified Speedbooster
Nikkor and one other reacted to Brian Caldwell for a topic
Phone-sized image circles are typically a lot less than 2/3" these days! Four things limit the ability to arbitrarily lower the reduction ratio of a focal reducer: 1) Inability to get really close to the sensor due to shutter, filter pack, mechanical junk, etc.. 2) limited space on the master lens side due to a short working distance of the master lens 3) Image quality requirement 4) f/0.5 ultimate speed limit for any well-corrected lens In practice, its possible to go down to 0.5x for certain special applications, with an aperture as large as f/0.66 or even f/0.63. In the case of the Blackmagic Pocket, the extra space and smaller sensor permitted 0.57x with great quality even at f/0.74, but all my attempts to get a smaller ratio resulted in unacceptable aberrations. In your example of a FF-2/3" reducer the magnification would need to be ~0.25x. So, an f/2 lens would be reduced to f/0.5, which is the fastest speed allowed by physics. For various reasons a focal reducer capable of 0.25x at f/0.5 is an unattainable goal. You might be able to get 0.25x at a slower speed, so long as the attached lens has a very large working distance (e.g., telescope objective etc.)2 points -
OPINION: Do you need 4K (narrative) to have shot at Distribution?
Matt Kieley and one other reacted to Zak Forsman for a topic
Okay, whatever you say. I'm not arguing distributors don't want 4K content. I'm saying that globally, even 1080p is overkill in many of the 130+ territories a movie will be sub-licensed to by your distributor. Profit motive will always come first for them. Also, when it comes to physical media, in my experience it's very easy to get a DVD deal. You'd have to have made a real dog of a movie not to get one. But it's much, much more difficult to get a distributor to commit to a Blu-ray release. I just renewed VOD and DVD rights in the US and Canada for my first movie. It was made in 2007 and shot on a Panasonic HVX200. The master we delivered is in Glorious 720p!!!2 points -
KineMAX 6K specs and raw footage
Liam reacted to Marco Bentz for a topic
I just received my Kinemax 6K. I did some tests and I must say I am positively surprised by the camera. I do not know what will be the future of this camera but with the new deal that included the 6k and High-speed, kineAudio, KineMag 120GB etc ... Under 10k without tax, I think it remains competitive for a tool very powerful. The Golden 3k expected to arrive this summer with the HI-speed 4K / sport mode and the KineAudio. For now I can already say it s nice to work with the camera, very stimulating. The results are, in my point of view, very impressive. The CineForm workflow is convenient for shooting in documentary style. Nice menu. I am surprised by the sensitivity of the sensor. By filming in shoulder, I didnt had any problems with the rolling shutter. It was not hard core shooting. Sorry for my english, i m working with my body Google Translate, together we almost write in english I want to take time to share some shots soon...1 point -
Monitor for GH4 and BlackMagic Pocket
JazzBox reacted to Mattias Burling for a topic
It all depends on budget and needs of course but I recently whent the EVF route instead. I figured a 4" screen is good enough as a 5" and with the loupe down its huge due to the magnification. Found a used but near mint Alphatron for €650. + good build, Sony battery (have loads), decent res, iris, Waveform, False Color, Peaking, multiple Zebra patterns, both SDI and HDMI with loop through. - A little chunky, price.1 point -
that's the best reason in the world. Nice work!1 point

Might as well take up on me own advice and give the Lilliput 663/O/P2 a go. It's €309 over here: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00IUAZGNI . Comes in a neat little case with some accessories. Built is metal, not some flimsy plastic. And then of course there's the functionality. There's nothing quite like it at the price point... (Full .pdf at http://www.lilliput.de/pdf/663-2014-web.pdf ) Might still be too expensive, maybe overkill as well for some... but on the bang-for-buck scale to me this really scores points. I do believe that extra bit of dosh will pay itself back... what you have to ask yourself I think is: do I want a secondary screen (noun) or do I quite literally want to monitor (verb) what I'm doing? If you're looking into a monitor, do not neccessarily need an external recorder or something a bit smaller than 7", then this seems to be pretty sweet. I'll report back returning from my holidays once it has come in. Tomtop is a pretty big player and they're all over eBay and AliExpress with multiple stores as well. I've done a fair share of business with them, always went fine. But when packages get a little bigger, heavier and more expensive, there's an increase of risk that it won't fly under the radar... customs might pick up on that and charge you import duties. So then cheap becomes not so cheap anymore... Just a thing to keep in mind. There's always the thing with the declaring of lower values and as 'gift', something these kind of shops tend to put on, but that's not how the system's supposed to work and customs will probably see through that. So beware. But there's loads of stuff you can get from China, if you need some help filtering through the masses, there are sites such as http://finddealsfor.me and http://chinaprices.us to make life a little easier. Don't forget to check a site like http://www.retailmenot.com for discount coupons. There's one site in particular that has loads of photography stuff: http://www.linkdelight.com , just like Tomtop, you might find 'em on eBay and AliExpress with multiple stores as well. One of my favourite stores that has one can be found here: http://www.banggood.com/Aputure-V-Screen-VS-2-Smart-HDMI-7-Inch-LCD-Field-Adv-Video-Monitor-p-950922.html . If you want to go with the Aputure VS-2 and are set to get it from China (taking your chances on import duties), that would be the way to do it. Use coupon ' b185f7 ' on checkout for a 9.99 USD off (Grand Total: US$189.90/€178.00).1 point

Selling my NX1
IronFilm reacted to Matt Kieley for a topic
It's a fantastic camera, but I could use some of the money toward getting an apartment with my girlfriend, and some of it toward a couple of additional lights. I looked back at stuff I shot on the GH1 and thought it still held up well, and I started to like the idea of trying to work harder to make my old camera sing. So, it's part "I need cash" and part "I already had a camera, I should add to my lighting kit and try and get better at that".1 point -
Can't even take a few weeks off from the interwebz nowadays – horrible. Thankfully, I don't have a following.1 point

KineMINI 4K goes full frame with modified Speedbooster
Wulf reacted to Brian Caldwell for a topic
Hi Ebrahim: It's certainly possible to do a 1-stop reducer from medium format to 24x36mm mirrorless, and likely a bit more than 1-stop. However, the real question is "why"? After all, if you offered a device that could convert an 80mm f/2.8 lens to a 56mm f/2.0 lens I think most people would not get very excited. Simply put, medium format optics are too conservative in their specs, and IMO you're better off purchasing native or adapted 35mm SLR optics for the A7.1 point -
Too Many Lenses?
mercer reacted to homestar_kevin for a topic
It has nothing to do with the lenses, it has everything to do with the pocket camera. It's beneficial to use an IR cut on the BM cameras I've just finally gotten all the step up rings neccesary to use my 77mm IR cut on all my 110 lenses, what have tiny and very random front diameters.1 point -
