Meanwhile Panasonic have been more keen than many to evolve their products, adding a 4K Photo mode to the GH4 and 24p for 4:3 shooting, a nod to anamorphic filmmakers. But it isn't enough. I still see quite a bit of discussion and questions about the Nikon D750 here. I've had one for a few months and love it, though have never shared anything here I don't think. As a stills camera, its incredible. Makes the 5D3 (which I've owned and used plenty) obsolete in this regard, in my opinion. As a video camera, its great. Really nice image that holds up to grading quite well. I shot a lot of this in the flat profile, though some in the standard as well. Graded using Film Convert as a base and James Millers DeLuts to varying degrees. There isn't much of a narrative to this video, just an event recap video for the company I work for. Shot on Nikon 70-200 F4G (mostly), 35mm F/2D, 24mm F/2D + Cinevate Duzi v3 slider and some handheld action

Love the color grading on these, the whole thing is top notch, keep going. Specially for a banned user....I kid, I kid...

I tried using the free one you shared, Im still fidling around and understanding how to apply luts and color correct, but I can get some pretty cool results, although not natural or "film" looking, I like the look.

because I use them a lot on jobs where we need 3 cameras or more. Has 10 bit codec output umcompressed and better highlight handling - about 13 stops to my eyes vs 12 stops on c300 and well motion feels better to me. C300 has nicer skintones out of the gate and also has more resoliving detail - but still F3 is a steal right now. And it's better for doc when you need the extra dynamic range in the highlights for doc-like conditions.

​Yes. I'm saying that the A7S in this mode should show less moire than the A6000. I'm saying that the differences between the cameras won't show so much in a close-up scene with subject separation, fairly shallow depth-of-field and so on, like the shots that you've provided. I'd be interested to compare the cameras shooting a deep focus scene with lots of detail, such as a landscape.

​Whats wrong with the The RAW stills compression. I dont see anything wrong with it i like the smaller files. I even set all my Nikons to the smaller compressed RAW setting after doing tons of testing the difference is un detectible most everything have been shooting that way for over 7 years never seen a problem in any of the files have shot over 200.000 of them.

Not a fan of the color grade, framing and burnt highlights. Also the handheld look takes away from the production value imo.

exactly - that was the experiment. But because of lawsuits, I had to admit rather quickly it was red one mx. Red's lawyers are fast!

I think camera/lens selection can affect the mood or style of the story. I tend to choose gear to match the story. My camera choice for a documentary would be different than that for a film. It's all important to producing the end product. Of course story comes first. Lighting is important. But they all work as part of a system. No one buys a drill because they want a drill... Problem is they don't sell the holes.

​Would KILL for this in Nikon mount. I have a 40mm voightlander that's pretty much how I see. Also have to say I would love a low cost 50mm Anamorphic, even if it was f4 I would buy it comes in under a grand.

I own a BMPCC and a GH2. I rent other cameras for gigs... C100, C100 mk2 and most recently GH4. All of the work I rent those for is corporate style paid gigs. I have some strong opinions on the BMPCC. It really is a love/dislike sort of relationship. When I began freelancing (after 12 years of being a media producer for corporations) I needed a camera. I bought a Sony Nex5n. Soon after, I replaced it with a GH2. (The overheating drove me mad on corporate gigs). My next camera purchase was the BMPCC. For months, it sat on the shelf - only getting used in one project. That project was a short film which I was producing on my own time. I didn't have to fit my shooting into a 2 - 4 hour window, like with many corporate clients. And this is precisely why it sat on the shelf - It was a pain in the butt to use for corporate work. 1. The LCD screen isn't great. 2. The crop factor is crazy! 3. Battery life... not fun. So now, it sits in my bag on every corporate gig still. BUT!!! I have a couple short films in the works and I will certainly go for the BMPCC. The image is LOVELY. I purchased the speed-booster (just factor this into your cost - you want it.) I also bought the Sigma 18-35 and a 50mm 1.8. You may also want an EVF. I bought a 5" LCD, but think I'll get an EVF at some point. You also need shoulder rig at least... The GH4 is really nice to use. It sits in the hand really well. The image is nice - but I really wish the image was more like a C100. It's not as detailed to my eye and the color science isn't quite as nice. But, it'll probably be my next camera purchase. For the money - its really great and the ability to crop in on the 4k image is good to have. BUT - I still would use the BMPCC for narrative work. And I mean - every time! (unless I needed a slow motion shot) So basically - in my experience Blackmagic is for narrative work where you have time to set up shots. The others (GH4 and similar) are for quicker turn around, run and gun, corporate work etc. Most corporate clients think DSLR footage looks just fine. But, in storytelling - the feel of the image really can add to the overall piece. And I would rather spend the time to have the image that I really love. That's just my experience... hope it helps.

Of course it is, no argument there. The learning part works for me, too. But at least to me consumerism is not the same as GAS, and vice versa. To me consumerism is the kind of "shopping is a feeling" attitude and behaviour. Shopping for the sake of shopping, whereas GAS is something different, the urge to get a newer, better tool we want and sometimes even need to do what we do, even though not having one right now wouldn't kill us. I for one will openly admit that GAS did have a small part in my buying a BMPCC, along with those four or other somewhat similar reasons. That's why I added the fifth reason in that list. It's as much an edited list for myself, as it was a friendly pun towards you. I think it's quite healthy not to take ourselves too seriously all the time. GAS aside, I don't regret getting the damn thing. The only thing I sort of regret is rushing to buy the cheaper LCDF loupe for it instead of waiting for the pricier Zacuto loupe. Only because the cheaper loupe was available immediately, and the Zacuto wasn't. The price difference was significant, but not critical. I actually like the simplicity of the camera, along with the 10-bit 422 ProRes HQ it delivers as default. The two major things I don't like too much is the quality of the lcd screen and the structure of the settings menu. There should be better shortcuts for some settings and functions. I wish it had better battery life and built in ND filters, too, but one can't have everything in such a small package, for such a price. Now I just wish I had more time and opportunities to play with it. This fall has been a bit of a disappointment, in many ways.

Would like to need your help for shooting video with my Canon 6D? 1) I need to use my live view LCD of 6D active while using a field monitor connect with my 6D using mini HDMI cable active. Basically I need to keep both the screen active so that during my shooting my clients can see the shooting with the external monitor. Kindly help me, how can I do that? 2) how can I shoot raw video with magic lantern in 6D? Kindly help me with the step by step tutorial if possible.? Thanks. Best regards. Apon
