Hi guys, Added these to the list. Great finds Ken! Couldn't resist buying that 77mm KMZ diopter on eBay for a steal...was the last one (for now)! Cheers, Tim Diopters v20151215.pdf3 points

In fact the second one is the GX7 :-)2 points

You are correct if you want to know the new focal length in 35mm/Full Frame equivilant then you multiply the focal length x crop factor x focal reduction. However DPreview and the others are also correct in that a 28mm and booster will yeild the fov of a 20mm lens on a MFT camera. In turn that 20mm will have the fov of a 40mm on a Full Frame camera.2 points

CM33: Pancake Lens on Kickstarter for Sony/Fuji/Canon
Marco Tecno and one other reacted to ricardo_sousa11 for a topic
Even for 300$ I'd find it expensive, it should not cost more than 200$, and even then, i'd have 0 interest in this, I bought the Samsung 30mm f2.0 for 150€ and that has full AF and great sharpness...We can get better optics for much less and the "Mods" are useless pieces of plastic. This is doomed since the design stage which is quite flawed.2 points -
New cinema camera manufacturers announced to come in 2016
Zach Goodwin and one other reacted to Cinegain for a topic
2016... and then having a 1998 looking site. Doesn't really exude confidence/professionalism. But then you see it actually has taken form... and there's specs, pics and video... though, given the specs, it's going to be a pricey one (3000~5000+ USD?). The Craft Camera announcement 'Starting under $1,000', as posted by someone around here earlier, will probably be a little bit more my kinda thing. But then is quite the opposite of the Aurora Camera... no specs, pics and video. Maybe they should friggin' join forces already. - Hum, see KineMINI 4K Basic doing 5199 EUR. Something like that then, probably. What's going on with Kinefinity these days anyway? Created some whirl a while back, but haven't heard people talking about them for quite some time, now.2 points -
Lol that's for Beats by Dr Dre, in Culver City (surprised they didn't specify Sony products (they have a big studio in Culver City): Vegas, Sound Forge etc. ). (Avid) Pro Tools is the industry standard for pro audio: not a better tool than the competition anymore, but since it's so common among pros, it's still a requirement. For 4K editing, surprisingly FCPX kicks PP CC 2015 (latest) to the curb (as does Resolve 12). PP can barely play 4K C300II files in real-time at 1/2 display res on a 12 Core MacPro 24GB with a GTX980ti 6GB and fast Samsung SSD, whereas a 2014 MBP 16GB with a GT 750M can play the same files in real-time in FCPX. Adobe really needs a deep overhaul of their video processing engines.2 points

Even Apple Doesn't Use Final Cut Pro X

I don't know why FCPX continues to be bashed. It's an absolutely incredible editing program, very intuitive, very fast and greatly supported by third party software (plugins etc).1 point -
I own the c100 mark ii, panasonic gx7, lx100, nikon d5500. I wouldn't say the C100 is a significant step up in image quality from any of those cameras but the usability is really amazing, especially if you're wanting to get run n gun audio as well using a shotgun mic. I tried the Sony FS5 the other day too and that seemed like another step up in usability. The internal 10bit and high framerates sound good too. If you have the money I would probably go for that. Edit: Attached unedited snapshots of a shoot I did yesterday with the C100 and GX7. Which is which? Could you still tell if the colours were graded to match?1 point

EOSHD advises Leica on LOG as SL system gets new firmware update
Michael Ma reacted to Don Kotlos for a topic
Its great that they are willing to improve it. It's something that all companies should do. But I still find the camera way overpriced for what it offers. If I were to spend that kind of money I would either get the A7rii AND the a7sii, or do it right and get a professional camera made for the job.1 point -
EOSHD advises Leica on LOG as SL system gets new firmware update
Zach Ashcraft reacted to richg101 for a topic
Very promising. I find the SL a very beautiful system. Big is beautiful. A full size HDMI connector sold it for me. Their promptness to approach Andrew rather than a typical 'still photography ambassador' for opinions on video functionality is very promising.1 point -
Yup. The 0.71 or 0.72x, whatever really, just makes the 28mm lens itself act as if you'd fit on a 20mm lens on there. Optically. The sensor crop of 2x still applies. So, equivalent to FF, it's still 40mm-like.1 point
-
Maybe mention your budget, what size sensor you normally shoot with etc etc.. Do you need ultra low light? Shallow/deep DOF?1 point
-
I think this is a bit an issue of opinions as to what is scientifically correct and what is "practically accepted reality". Focal lenght is fixed, it doesn't change depending on the camera. So 28mm is 28mm no matter if 35mm, APS-C or M43 sensor, but the crop of the image circle that is used obviously changes, so you will change the distance to compensate for this. Theory goes on and on but.... The practical answer you want: 28mm on M43 has the field of view like a 56mm on 35mm/FF. So the Speedbooster uses whatever modification, in your case 0.72, which will give you what a 41mm lens would frame on a FF sensor. 28mm x 2 x 0.72 = 40.32mm EDIT: yeah, what dhessel said1 point

Totally agree there. If they could nail the Alexa look in a camera at this price, you'd have a lot of shoestring budget filmmakers switching from saying "wow this is an expensive camera" to "wow this thing is a steal and a big winner." That aside, it's really cool to see them work with you on this and those are some great suggestions you've added.1 point

That is yet another absurdity about these CM33 guys. For a pancake lens, is it really necessary to put those toy filters inside the lens? Is the diameter that big they can't do with those one million and one filters on the market already? In the old days we use to stack two cheap filters together, fill it with sparkles, bokeh cutouts, grass, and even flowers to make some creative lomo effects for cheap without any complex engineering solution. This CM33 highlight some of the issues with kickstarter projects - Full of dreams and fantasies, believing that money will come easy... There is a reason why those suit-wearing, bean-counting venture capitalists exist and do well. They might now know much about photography but they know money. they vet each investment seriously. Can the CM33 guys convince those venture capitalists to put up $600,000 for a company that sells only ONE product? I don't know. But for a $800 manual lens? They are looking at some serious competition from Voigtlander. They have about 50 days left, which means they need to find at least 20 donors a day. and you know what? Even if the funding target is reached, you gotta wait till November of 2016 for delivery. I am a big fan for Mr. Miyazaki's work (http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/MS_Optical_R%26D), and have had the honor of owning two of his handcrafted Leica-mount lens. He sells his wonderfully crafted lens about $600 a piece. Each with great optics and workmanship. Really, If I have $800, 900 to spend, CM33 would be quite low on my shopping list.1 point
-
If they want 800$ for a lens and expect to raise 600.000$ they should at least publish some MTFs that are super exciting. Another problem that has come to my mind is dust. On tele lenses you have the filters behind the lenses, you can clean that. But those tiny filters in the center of the lens look like dust nightmare.1 point

HELP! Nikon-G to Samsung NX Adapter
shanebrutal reacted to Cinegain for a topic
Is that dummy adapter made from gold and laid-in with diamonds, or what? Those are insane prices. There's not even glass or electronics involved, right? How is that worth 10 times more than other adapters? Even custom made chunk of metal ciecio7 adapters are cheaper than that... Geez.1 point -

Poll... STARWARS WILL BE RUBBISH?
austinchimp reacted to The Chris for a topic
The second one was so full of holes and such a ridiculous premise that set the whole story in motion - it was flat out awful and had as many holes as the last Christopher Nolan Batman film. After the "terrorist attack" the whole Star Fleet executive branch decides to meet in what looks like a Hilton banquet room with no protection? They don't go underground? And I know it seems far fetched - but they don't go into space where they can't be tracked? I mean they have a whole Star Fleet to protect them, instead they opt for the continental breakfast so they can get slaughtered by one guy in a Jetsons car. Good lord, gimme a break. If I wasn't with my wife, I would have walked out right there. That was beyond stupid and it only got worse as the movie dragged on. I hope in this one the plot doesn't play second fiddle to JJ's idiotic anamorphic shaky cam. KAAAAHHHHHNNNNNN!!!!!!! I'm going to watch the new movie because Star Wars was the coolest thing I saw as a kid. I hope it doesn't disappoint. With Lucas not very involved, there's a chance.1 point -

Another video completely void of any sample stabilized footage.1 point -
http://www.creativebloq.com/adobe/history-photoshop-12052724 Lucas had to drag Sony into the movie camera business, at first they (or NHK) did not see the importance of filmic frame rates or how to accomodate PL lenses - so he convinced them to collaborate with Panavision and started the conversation between filmmakers and electronics giants. The Alexa has become the benchmark film crew friendly camera because it successfully fuses Arri's excellence and experience in film cameras, and transposed that to digital. Incidentaly the sensor inside an Alexa was developed by Sony. I don't think Lucas has enough credit, it's far too easy to flame him over the prequels and forget how much he nurtured and pushed technology in vision, sound, editing, animation to where we are today. He also gave his 4 billion dollars to charity from selling Star Wars to Disney after proclaiming 'I have enough money'. The Force Awakens will probably be appropriate for most fans to have further distance from the prequel films, as well as set up a new generation to be introduced. They have more films planned until at least 2019 so I don't think Disney will be worrying about the health of their cash cow, or critic reviews. People will always watch these films and it's a smart move getting different directors for each film, as if any individual film sucks - it will be on the head of that specific director. I'm expecting The Force Awakens to be like the best made fan film ever made...if it can offer new and interesting things within its expectation, that will be a welcome bonus.1 point

HELP! Nikon-G to Samsung NX Adapter

From another topic: I guess the Fotasy is similar to Pixco, Roxsen, Fotga, etc. eBay and such. e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pixco-Nikon-G-Lens-to-Samsung-NX-Adapter-GN100-NX1100-NX300M-NX2000-NX300-NX210-/281155632292 , http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roxsen-Nikon-F-mount-G-DX-AF-S-lens-to-Samsung-NX-camera-adapter-NX300-NX11-NX20-/400676312568 & http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-AI-F-mount-G-DX-AF-S-lens-to-Samsung-NX-NX1000-NX300-NX11-NX20-camera-adap-/252179657707 , http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adapter-fur-Nikon-G-Objektive-an-Samsung-NX-Kameras-/262119442477 .
