This video is comparing the P35-100/2.8 and P12-35/2.8 lenses with various camera stabilisations on the Panasonic G7, GX80, LX100 and Olympus OMD E-M5II. All was handheld, and I was using both hands with elbows braced against my body and eye to the EVF. These were all shot in 1080p/25fps, with the E-M5II using the All-I codec. I kept it in 1080p as it was easier to get more or less the same crop/frame without having to move around. I didn't bother white balancing all the cameras (I should have sorry), and I probably should have tested the P12-35/2.8 on the E-M5II as well. The E-M5II is rock solid, and the stabilisation is better than any of the others. The 1080p codec (at shallow depth of field) also looks better on the E-M5II, in my opinion than the Panasonic 20Mbps 1080p. I need to test the 4k with some wide/detailed shots, but I'm sure the Panasonics will blow away the E-M5II.

Here are some quick headshots from this morning. Sorry about the jittery GX80 video, I must have had too much coffee this morning. From my stabilisation tests yesterday, I thought that the P35-100/2.8 was doing better on the GX80. Hmmm... I also added a couple of files comparing the same colour against the LX100. The GX80 colour looks much more natural in my opinion. I was surprised at how much different the LX100 was, especially in Natural mode. For white balance on both cameras, I used an expo disk and custom WB facing in the direction where I was to be shooting from where my son was sitting. All shot in 4k/25fps. Standard -5, -5, -5, -5, and Natural 0, -3, -4, 0 (which I have generally been using). GX85 using the Panny 42.5 f/1.7, a little wobbly but considering its a 85mm equivalent, pretty good. Now I just need to remember to white balance...

From today's shoot with the Micro in bright california sun. Still amazes me how much detail is retained, especially with all that white in the frame. This is for a client so I can't leave them up indefinitely, but for now...

From what I have read early on was that 4k is upscaled 2160p and cropped in-camera, this was made from the conclusion that it lacks sharpness and had more aliasing than UHD. Whether this really is the case is debatable because I have no idea how it really works, it could be true line skipping for all I know. When I shoot 2160p or 4k in NX500 I get fine noise grain like in 1440p mode, its just smaller grain which is expected duo to higher resolution. Why is this? I use Kino's Mod Pack 1.62m, was this a standard feature on the NX500 before the hack? I am too lazy to uninstall and reinstall on my vacation just to check it, can any NX500 owner confirm with me if this was the case? 1080p mode has the ugly NR as we know it, hurts me everytime i look at that blue swirling death atoms on high ISO videos shot from NX1. LEFT - 1440p mode from NX500 (140mbps) | RIGHT - 2160p mode from NX500 (160mbps)

The C looks a little greenish on my monitor, so I thought it would be the cheaper. The A and the B are both good but the B to my eyes is slightly better on skintones. Probably the technology of A and B is improved from the expensive but old Lite Panel. I'm happy to notice that, because I also have a couple of Youngnuo 600 Yes, Aputure are probably a little better in terms of construction, but they are very close in color rendition. Lots of people hate cheap LED panel, but I really love the simplicity of use for independent/ low budget shooting and the great look you can achieve.

I'd be totally happy with less megapixels if we get full-sensor 4K, better color integrity, and another half to full stop of DR. Everything else just comes down to cramming in all the features from their previous cameras and doing a hair of catch-up with their competitors on framerates and (to a lesser extent) color science.

-No recording limit. I am using a US model so I'm not sure if it'll be different for models released in other countries, but the Panasonic let me record as long as I wanted. No overheating either - during the battery stress test, the hand grip area got warm but nothing too bad. Edit: Sorry, tested without IBIS. My bad.

In stills too? 2 seconds long sharp exposures with the gx80 sounds amazing.

The Sony stabilisation isn't on par, way less effective.

I'm no technician but do have experience. red goes earlier on Canon, Blue goes out horribly on Sony... (Try a blue LED) And guess what, those are the tones each is known for. I'm not sure which part of the analogue or digital pipeline is responsible for this, but do know it's what happens. A bit of a WB tweak or a saturation drop can help. On Canon the WideDR profile is nice. Sony I don't know as I sold mine. Because it all looked blue.

To keep color channels from clipping. You don't want to lower it all the way; 1 or 2 points will do.

Personally I have stopped doing that. I leave the contrast alone as well. Gives me better results than "fake log".

Finally completed my Voigtlander SL II Set. 20mm, 28mm, 40mm, 58mm, & 90mm. 20 is the last, while not the sharpest It has great rendering and "pop" with very little distortion on faces.

It replaces the 480p VGA with 1440p HEVC, when you have ticked it off in Kino's menu, you need to go select VGA were you select your resolutions in the camera menu (not Kino's Mod Pack menu), you will know it uses 2.5k when you see the widescreen letter boxing instead of the 4:3 letter boxing on the sides. I highly recommend using 2.5k primarily because it consumes less power and the rolling shutter is less noticeable you also get finer grain details with no NR screwing up things for you. Also change the bitrate for the VGA mode to 140mbps in Kino's Mod Pack Menu, that is the most stable for me with no lockup or stopping duo to slow SD card

Thanks guys. Looks like I've picked the wrong week to stop drinking. Anyone want to buy a nx1+16-50? Yes, it's a zoom lens but I like to think of it more as a series of primes for video.

Thanks for the appreciation. I don't know about "super noisy", I think it's pretty clean at 8k iso, but I need to do more testing to confirm that. In my night testing i think i kept it at 3200 iso. In all honesty I'm pretty happy if I can get 6400 clean from most cameras as I'm lighting my scenes. But let me put it this way, side by side, at the same iso value, the 1DX Mkii has been cleaner than the Sony A7Rii. However, let me preface that by saying, I have yet to test the A7Rii in APS-C mode verses the Canon. So perhaps the Sony can redeem itself in the high iso test using crop mode? One thing I am absolutely certain of its that my best footage from the A7Rii is not as good as what the Canon can do. The Sony is handily outclassed. Of course you have to factor price into the equation. Sony aimed to hit a balance between performance vs cost. I think in that regard the Sony is a solid buy. Ib don't think you're anti Canon... I think your anti single camera angle:-)

Man lot of smack being talked here. Personally I'm not sure what all the complaining is about. The stills I have seen look great, and when the ISO is pushed they look cleaner than what my A7Rii put out. And the video looks great. So do you really care what the specks say if it produces great images? Me... I judge by the footage.

This article is embarrassing.... The guys that did all the hard work gave it a positive review with some negative caveats... Andrew then takes those few caveats, without any real world testing or insight and creates this clickbait monstrosity to fit some ludicrous Canon narrative (while using the 1DC and XC10).
