What a ridiculous idea. Corporations run countries like the US. All sorts of human rights violations already take place on a Huge Scale, despite the Plethora of Human Rights Laws. If Corporations are given a Free Fun (like with Private Prisons in the US), almost everyone who is not buying thousands in music and films will be in jail. Regardless of who commits piracy. Also a huge population of young children indulge in piracy. I am not sure I would want corporations handling them. A study by Harvard University Students not too long ago showed that Piracy actually helps draw traffic for sales for music and movies. So people opposing Piracy are also people who are either genuinely uninformed, or part of Corporate Greed. I don't support Piracy. But giving Corporations more teeth is suicidal for human rights. Also, Interestingly the Biggest Plagiarists are the Corporations/ Studios/ Uber Riche. Did you read about how Getty Images has been indulging in some terrible levels of piracy and monopolising Public IP of late (it is rightly being sued by a photographer whose worked it stole and then attempted to Blackmail her for using her own pics). When Large Corporations are given teeth, they usually go on a criminal rampage.

I don't want government having any type of power of anything someone can do on a website or software. They would be able to shut you down on anything (they) seem is illegal. They could shut down this site because gear is being sold and they're not getting taxes from it. I just know government shouldn't have to much power over anything plain and simple.

It is quite a hefty price, but if I can use my vintage Soviet lenses on my NX1, yes baby, worth it for me. I have a bunch but I cannot use them because of the crop factor, they are quite soft when you crop. Originally bought for the Sony A7s which turned out to be utterly junk, only good thing about that camera was the sensitivity, no idea why anyone even likes it or gave it such a good review. If the smart adapter ever sees light, we can finally use cheaper lenses for NX1, I always wanted a really wide zoom one with 2.8 aperture, but there are none for the Samsung NX1, I have to buy 3 Lenses! Just to get those winder angles than 16mm, ridicules! Even GH4 has a super wide zoom. But thanks to Lucabutera, I can invest in more vintage lenses and even if my Samsung NX1 fails one day, I can just buy a much better camera if that hopefully exists in the foreseeable future and still use my lenses! Profit! Old lenses are really shit with crop factor because they are not as sharp and you always loose that delicious wider range they have, Soviet lenses have really funny distortions which also gets lost when you have a crop. But, thanks to Lucabutera, I can enjoy using them now, definitely picking this one up with my Norwegian OIL money.

The act of attacking file sharing sites has already been done, publicly as well as behind closed doors by government 'approved' black hats. Piracy prevention and data control is all around us, simple example is YouTube content viewable in the US may not be viewable in other countries, sometimes for political reasons, sometimes for 'copyright' reasons. Google own YT, so it is often the partner with governments to keep a large portion of media being controlled and accessed worldwide. The fact that piracy remains at all is a side effect from the early days when the world biggest entertainment groups were warned multiple times that this 'Napster' thing could pose a serious threat to the music industry and beyond, that the stolen profits from illegal online redistribution would seriously effect them...they all laughed, whilst wearing their short-sighted glasses in the boardroom. I have limited sympathy for the entertainment bigwig companies who now loose a certain percentage to piracy because they did not heed the warnings fast enough. But the reality is that it can hit the indie filmmaker or musician in the nuts...which is not good. I used to remember a time when music videos used to have budgets! Having a government body that effectively destroys or censors 'illegal' sites that distribute copyrighted works or other media sounds like perfect common sense. But unfortunatly it's not that simple. More often than not, pirated material is hosted on servers located oversees that are hard or impossible to police and warrant any duristriction over. These servers and scattered networks are often the same gateways that repressed citizens from dictatorships can access 'the truth' from - bypassing state run media outlet reports on world events, and get a more unbiased view on the world...through television, film and even music. Any government that overtly has the power and will to control what you see or what information you are allowed to read is a very bad idea. It happens more to us westerners than we think, we are just used to our particular flavour of brainwash. But don't worry, If Trump gets to play president, he'll eradicate online piracy in 5 mins, right after defeating ISIS by deleating all their Twitter accounts with the press of Bill Gates' finger on the magic internet 'Delete' button. (Yes, Trump thinks that is possible) A flip side to piracy is that it is used (or allowed) to be used to undermine dictatorial governments with 'subversive western values'. North Koreans risk imprisiment or death by smuggling in and viewing western films/ TV shows and music, often hidden on USB sticks and distributed amongst the bravest members of the population. There is nothing more destabilising to a hardline dictatorship than allowing its repressed population to see what a shitty deal they have...and to give an alternative perspective on how they should be governed and ruled. As soon as N Korea get to be an feasible outside threat, the people's blind loyalty and enslavement to dictatorship would likely be eroded enough with western Ideology, willing to either overthrow the government themselves, or at least be less resistant to an invading force to overthrow it 'for them'. It's been a proven propaganda weapon in the past, give a tribe or indigenous people a television, and in 5-10 years they will all be truck driving 20 a day smokers, drinking beer worrying about how to pay off their credit cards...meanwhile steal their land and put up your flag. In a nutshell, the big billion dollar entertainment companies were told to implement safeguards and file for better online control of their material at the dawn of the Internet revolution. They did not listen (to lots of people), and now independent content creators are paying the price for having to live in a world where a torrented copy of your work can be a massive hit in profit, not a 0.2 percentage of millions of sales. I use variable ND filters and my impression is that even the ones nearing 100€/$ are not very good and create more problems than solve. I wouldn't like to have one fit into the adapter, complicates things vastly, and raise the price significantly!

The best thing is that you will have one ND filter for all lenses that you will use with speedbooster no matter lens diameter. It would be great but question is additional price and if there is enough space to add another glass element. Honestly - 500 bucks quite lot for me but I completely understand that price.

I met Tommy Wiseau at a screening of The Room. As my friends were finding seats, I decided to get in the line for photos. After a series of group photos, I approached Tommy Wiseau and said "It's just me." meaning I wasn't part of the group behind me, He took what I said to mean I came to the movie alone. He then starts calling out "Ladies! Come take a picture with us! He is all alone!" Then a group of girls crowded around us for a photo. The screening was wonderful. It was one of the most fun movie experiences I've ever had.

After much work and many sleepless nights, I have almost finished my work and I think I have brought the lens NXL to the point of being sold to the public. I thought if the test this week will be positive to produce it with Canon EF mount dumb to which you can add a Nikon adapter with iris aperture control. At this stage it allows to mount all Nikon and Canon lenses, in the future I will continue to work to enable the electronic control of the lenses.

I bought my 1DC used a month ago just two weeks before the price drop. Paid $5,000 used. Just returned it and got a full refund! Now I may re purchase it new or hold out for what will happen in the next two months before I make a decision. I know that I LOVE the IQ of 1DC and my clients were very pleased with the way the footage came out in Mexico and Guatemala. I can't believe I got a refund. Kinda like a free 1 month rental!

As a taxpayer, I think the government has bigger things to worry about than digital piracy, any policing of this is a waste of time and government resources and any lawmaker that spends a second worrying about it - at least here in the U.S. - is usually bought and paid for by entertainment industry lobbyists. The endless extension of copyright laws is a perfect example. Any proposal to create an organization to police a medium of free speech seems incredibly overreaching, Nazi and Communist comparisons are appropriate. And no matter what, it still wouldn't stop piracy.

Hi Kidzrevil I've seen you mention this many times about "crushed blacks" but I do not understand why you say it. I have never had crushed blacks with the NX1 so can you please explain. I am wondering if you are talking about blacks in Adobe Premiere as there is an issue in that Premiere does not recognise 0-255 correctly. I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers.

The price is totally fair, IMO. As already said, though, I won't be buying a dumb speedbooster (or a dumb adapter, btw). What I'd really want, and I'd be ready to spend 300-350€ on it (if well built and decently fast), is a SMART ADAPTER (non speedbooster) for canon glass, so to be able to use a 300-400mm lens for my NX1 and use it with af, aperture and ois.

I dont think the price is too high. Will I get one? Probably not, I dont have that kind of money to spend, since I dont use my NX1 proffesionaly. What I am dissapointed to hear is that for the price you will be using 3D printed parts. I have had quite a few parts printed for personal projects with hobby and professional 3d printers and the quallity was always poor. The only situation that I would use printed parts is when the shape is very hard to make on a cnc machines and quallity and mechanical properties are not a priority. What is the actual focal reduction anyway? Why is it in your opinion that metabones declares it is immpossible to make a booster for NX?

I do not agree! Metabones Nikon G adapters are priced at $ 479, they offer a focal reduction of 71X and can only be used with Nikon lenses. My adapter is the only existing for Samsung NX, provides a superior reduction and can be fitted with a Canon EF mount, Nikon F / G, M39, M42, Exakta, Pentax K, C / Y, Olympus OM, Leica R , Arri PL-STD-B, T -T2 mount- Novoflex A mount. It is built in Italy with quality materials and 3D printing technologies. Do you still think that it is expensive?

Why complicate your life? If you want a nd filter, just add it to the front lens.

Anyone try out the hack to change 25p to 30p? I have a 25p and panning is poor, wondering if 30p would have any improvements over 25p.

There are some contradicting reports on the 'hack' that puts PAL systems into NTSC system default with 30p and 60p modes as well as no region 30m limit. That might work... I also mentioned a site of which I'm not sure, eglobalcentral, that sells imported cameras in the GX85/80 thread. I have a Gh3 and Gh4. Was really thinking of offloading everything for 3 G7's. Hearing a lot of good things on the lowlight and picture quality on the camera.

A 24-105 T4 would be great.

Ahh so these are in camera settings rather than the characteristics of the actual curve. The black level is probably like it sounds, it changes where black is recorded. In the case of S-Log, it'd allow you to change the recorded black from 90/1023 to 0, or whatever you like really. The knee is likely the knee that is used in many Rec. 709 profiles that allows it to keep more data in the highlights. It would act at the very top of the range and essentially "bend" the curve down to keep more range or clip at a lower point. This depends on if the knee is applied before or after the signal is already clipped from the gamma transform. The higher the value, the sharper the bend is. Not sure on what the black gamma would be. It'd be best to look up the user manual for the camera these settings are for know if there are exact units they are giving you versus an arbitrary scale. And I must say, it would be a lot easier to leave the values at default. It would also make it much easier in post to do color transforms when needed. But I do share your desire for understanding everything you possibly can about a camera haha

Updates NXL NX / EF: Hi, I worked on this adapter for a few consecutive days, the biggest difficulty was finding the right point of distance between the lens and sensor. A tenth lower and slamming into the sensor, a tenth farther and slammed into the lens. Find the right setting to infinity focus it seemed impossible, and some moments I was throwing in the towel with canon EF mount to return to Nikon. All this for 0.05 of a millimeter (Canon EF mount is definitely the final flange focal distance limit). Now fortunately, the system works perfectly and soon will publish the first tests with Nx1 camera. See you soon.

I disagree, dude. I've got a pretty thriving business that's equal parts stills and video and the NX1 and NX500 do everything I need and more stills-wise. Fantastic dynamic range, high mp for great detail, wonderful adaptability for vintage lenses... Honestly what more do you need? This new speedbooster will only make things better, I can't wait to see how different some of my lenses look wider and a stop faster.

H265 from nx1/nx500 can take a pretty substantial color grade. Not as much as raw from my bmcc, but a good deal more than most codecs, I grade straight with h265 in both resolve and premeire, although you can transcode to h264 or whatever before if you choose. It can be a very cinematic look if you know what you're doing. Never hurts to light a scene in a cinematic way or to use good lens either. But it is a more robust codec than people seem to assume.

Some people will think the FS5 is worth it due to the ergonomics alone. The FS700 is much worse in this regard. However, the FS700 does have a slightly better image and will last another 5 years on the market. A true classic. Considering the financial outlay, for the money I would be looking at the Kinefinity Terra. I'm surprised that there's been no articles in this camera yet on EOSHD. Can't wait to see footage.
