  2. I would buy the C100 MkII: it is a complete system with ND filter, audio inputs, good log codec etc...

  4. http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/samyang-says-mft-x-autofocus-lenses-possible/ http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/samyang-says-will-make-zoom-lenses/ Awesome!! We're going to see affordable cine zooms soon from Samyang?? I'd love to have a Rokinon version of the Fujinon 19-90mm T2.9 but at a price I could actually afford!!

  5. To be expected, really. It's just an a6300 with extra heat inducing features.

  6. Well, if primes start at around 1999. This must be somewhere around... 2999~4999. If I were to go zooms... I'd save up for those Angenieux Type EZ ones then... They'll be better in every single way. Or just stick to stills adapted home modded ones from Nikon, Sigma or Tokina.

  7. Caution! WD-40 may ingrained between the cemented lenses... on the pic died lens from another Rectimascop 80/2x. It is not a pity, because she was so dead from fungus. But the possibility may be after WD-40. Maybe yes, maybe no...

  8. I was assuming that I would need a gimbal for use with an A6300, now the sensor stabilised A6500 has come out I might hold off a bit. The good thing is a small camera can work with a cheaper, more compact gimbal. I fully acknowledge that RS and overheating are serious problems for some shooting styles, but the quality of the 4K image out of these cameras, and the potential for a speed boosted full frame image, makes it worth considering work arounds for the limitations surely?

  9. But the 1080p on the A6300 isn't exactly amazing, I wouldn't buy that camera to shoot Full HD with it. We'll see if the A6500 has better image quality in 1080p but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I tried to cut 1080p that I used for the lower RS together with downscaled 4k for a test and the quality difference was really showing, not yet convinced it's a viable solution. I didn't test them side by side but from my feeling the 120fps on the A6300 is also worse than on the NX1.

  10. Better ergos is debatable. The X-T2 has a LOG profile. And the Fuji color profiles are like having filmconvert built into your camera. I'm not saying it beats the E-M1 II-- it's way to early to say one way or the other-- but the Fuji is incredibly underrated, imo.

  11. Drop a smidgen of warp stabilizer on top and you're good to go, I'd say. This is the best thing in their current line-up (unless you're more geared towards photography, then the GX8 has some features that might make that one more interesting). Of course, the GH4 has its use and the GH5 is going one step further yet, if not an entire leap and both bring those video production qualities to the table. But the GH5 is going to be double the price and take another half a year... Don't get why hardly anybody seems excited about this one. Everybody seems to either drop specs for the ease of use of the Canon (dualpixel AF & color) or actually go for the more exciting specs (Sony) and 'just deal with it'. Unless they're going more pro/expensive (Blackmagic, Sony F, etc) or for the stills side of things (1DXII, D750, X-T2, etc) or clinging onto something older that's being looked after (NX1 hacks, ML with the 5DmkIII). Everybody was pretty serious about using a GH2, GH3, GX7, G6, GH4, G7... I guess the landscape has changed. In the beginning it was just the 5DmkII, T2i/550D and GH2, which naturally evolved. But where does that leave Panasonic in the current market? Is its major target now people entering the video segment, rather than those who are already? People on a budget? Aren't there more people who just like to shoot video and like the possibility of just having something really basic and compact to carry around? Is bigger better? I know there's still a few who like the M4/3 system and give Panasonic some love for what they do... but it feels like it's getting slowly getting less, even though their cameras do keep improving.

  12. OK for all you knowledgable people and know it all's and others who work in radiology and others that think they know it all, take a look at this. Tuck it under your bed, wrap it in tinfoil. put it in a box? P.S The cornea of your eye is extra sensitive to radiation on this level, forget what you recieve having an X-ray or a flight to Bangkok.

  13. the camera offers about 16 minutes of continuous shooting time and, as a new feature for this model, also includes a special power mode designed for tripod recording. As explained by the Sony rep, this mode allows the camera temp to get a little hotter, offering around 29 minutes of uninterrupted recording time. http://www.steves-digicams.com/blog/hands_on_sony_rx100_mark5_a6500/

  15. My perspective as well :-) This one seems legit too: BTW, here's already accessories offer:

  16. That's incorrect. Oversampling can be done from any resolutions. For example, A6300 oversamples every pixel in the entire width of the sensor (6000x3375) to produce 3840x2160, without pixel binning or lineskipping, then downscale to 4K with software algorithm. It works the same way as when you take a high resolution JPG in Photoshop and change it to a lower resolution. The camera does it on the fly from a 6K raw signal, that's why it produces the sharpest 4K image. In comparison, A7R II S35 mode oversamples from a ~15MP area of the FF sensor.

  17. How about... NONE?? Get a Sony FS5 instead. I think in his situation then he is in a perfect place to jump ship to something better, as with merely a 60D & SL1 he is hardly heavily locked into the Canon ecosystem right now.

  19. Actually, only STM lenses work with Canon's face tracking DPAF mode. You may want to pick up a cheap secondhand one for gimbal/dolly/run and gun stuff.

  20. Nice lenses. They should work great with Canon's DPAF. I don't know anything about Gimbals. I would probably go the Steadicam, Glidecam or Movi route... But that's just me. I'd rather my stabilization be mechanical instead of electronic.

  21. Just bought a c100 mkii. Thanks guys! If you guys know of any info on gimbals let me know. Thats the next thing on my list The canon lenses I own are: canon 24-70 2.8 L tokina 11-16 2.8 L canon 50mm 1.4

  22. Exactly this!! You should take this route if you don't want to spend all your money on your camera.

  23. The maximum DR I can get out of a BMPCC/BMCC is at ISO800. Thats what I compare to. Shooting a 5D at ISO3200 in daylight isn't very practical imo. Shooting in situations requiring iso3200 is very rare for me and what the DR is then isn't as important.

  24. I thought you didn't want to spend your whole budget on a camera? It's a fantastic option, with great features and 4K, with the RAW output available for your film work. It's Autofocus is inferior to the C100 Mark 2, and it's menu system is much more complicated. You'll have to add the cost of the Metabones adapter to get all the features of your canon lenses as well.

  25. I'd still get the C100ii. Since you're coming from a modest Canon background, there's no reason to switch now. With your budget you can get a new c100ii, a good Sennheiser Mic, a good tripod, maybe a Stedicam Solo or a Movi. You can put together a really nice kit that will be a money maker and have itself paid off in no time. Then you can go experiment with a Sony or an Ursa. Btw, what Canon lenses do you have?

  31. The official prices in Spain are 999 euros with 12-60 and 1299 with 14-140. And the free battery grip are only for the 100 first preorders.

  32. Wow. That sounds like such a great deal! I'm waiting to see how they sell it here in South Korea. I'm thinking about picking one up for bts footage.
    1 point
  33. Of course. I'm a sucker for good deals. But I see no more reason to keep the G7 and GX80 around, when this is here! Honestly. They've overcome their individual weaknesses by joining them together and then added some stuff on top of it (like weather sealing and HDMI output whilst recording to SD to name two). Sounds like it will be here in time for my trip to New York next week! Went with UK Digital. They threw in an additional 64GB card to sweeten the deal even more. And actually they were the ones to make me aware of the battery grip deal and the first ones outside of mainland Europe to actually have stock. So they kinda deserved me picking them. Currently out of stock though. Maybe people got some love for it after all. Then again! For us mainlanders... if we order from the UK, we're getting the G80 with 12-60mm, 64GB card and battery grip (at 815.96 GBP/902.34 EUR) for the price of the camera body only over here (812.93 GBP/899 EUR)! That's huge savings! And the 12-60mm, 64GB and battery grip alone are valued a theoretical 369+79.90+249=697.90 GBP/771.78 EUR. So I think for good reasons they suddenly have an increased taking market there...

  34. They're selling pretty crazy BMCC 2.5K packages 2nd hand as well. That's a cool idea too if you're struck by gear-lust and loads of bits.

  35. Better ergos, tilty-swively screen, IBIS and a flat profile. For video is a no brainer. For photo I'll be very interested in the final production camera focus speed and tracking ability, that's a tough call against the great XT2. @omega1978 said it wasn't so good, let's hope Oly can fix it.

  36. Yes, raw can be compressed, absolutely nothing strange about that. And just like with stills you have lossless or lossy compression. Lossless: No information lost, kinda like winzip to make it easier (even tough its not exactly like that). Lossy/visually lossless: Where some information is lost but nothing that a couple of eyes could ever spot. Uncompressed raw: Not very common, I can only think of the 5Dmkiii, the 2.5K BMCC if it has the original firmware or the Digital Bolex. Might of course be others but those are the three I know. Seems some would like to know they ins and outs about raw, this article is pretty in depth: http://www.hdvideopro.com/columns/help-desk/formats-explained/#

  37. Consider the Samsung NX1. Ignoring all the crap about it being discontinued, it's a great camera and always will be. The color is pleasing, and the 4K provides lots of information to work with when craving an image. Add to that the recent support via FilmConvert, and I think it might have a lot of what you're looking for.

  40. Very good quality! I only see some jerky movements here and there with slow motion, especially when the camera is pointed down (but maybe it is the compression from youtube) and some strange reflections when backlight, for the rest it is really impressive!

  41. I think someone has been buying up all those NX1s and is promoting them on all the new camera threads in the hope of making a killing from those who feel hard done by!
