I honestly cant remember, its been quite a while, but it wasnt too hard, Ill try have a look and try to get something for you Im currently testing some new settings, heres a few examples, these are all separate projects, so they all have a slightly dif. look. These are all videoframes, and not pictures, as soon as im done testing these settings, ill share with you guys! Im considering creating a specific lutpackage that could be sold at a very affordable price, what do you guys think?

I own the GH4 and just rented the GX85 to have a B cam for a wedding. I used to love the image the GH4 produced, until I used the GX85!!! It is sooooooo much cleaner, and the IBIS is a lifesaver. Let's put it this way: When I went through the 180GB worth of video for the deliverable, 95% of the content I shipped was recorded with the GX85, as at the high ISO (1600-3200) the GH4 was undeliverable. If the G85 is anything like the GX85, 4K delivery will be awesome.

Agreed. Unlike Nikon, Canon has been producing professional video cameras and broadcast lenses for decades, the EOS C line is a natural extension of that lineage. The market is moving from fixed lens camcorders like the legendary EX1 to large sensor ILC camcorders like the FS7 and C100/300. Though on paper it looks like the GH5 could shake up things a bit, and IMO this is why we haven't seen a real AF100 successor. Panasonic is leaving the mid range stuff to Canon and Sony while trying to capture everything below with the GH5's heavy duty spec. Nikon has no history in the pro video realm, venturing into pro video would be a big undertaking with lots of R&D. Good cameras by companies with far more experience than Nikon, like the JVC LS300, have been largely ignored in favor of the Canon and Sony's. Its not short sighted or stupid, its just not in their business model. Any mis-step would be very costly. Olympus is in the same boat. So is Fuji. Improving the video in their respective cameras and allowing for better output to external recorders makes more financial sense than producing an entirely new line of cameras. Just my opinion.

@Mattias Burling I think, you are right...Because the DSLR/DSLM filming enthusiasts like many people in this forum are a MINORITY. But all of us think, filming features are the most important for camera manufacturers. I am convinced, this is NOT. It's only the most important thing for dedicated film camera manufacturers. For hybrid/still devices manufacturers, there are much more (economical and strategic) aspects to consider than the expectations of a minority. How many normal Joes have the knowledge and hardware possibilities for 4K editing and post production? How many enthusiasts have the budget to handle and store huge RAW or 1DXmk2 files? I think, we underestimate the real existing world out there. Rock solid 1080p with a nice codec and a moderate bitrate (= for "normal" PCs / Mac, round about 50 MB/s) could be better for the future of filming enthusiasts than a handful "freaks" not representing the bright consumer world at all...And that's mass business, big manufacturers like Canon, Sony, Nikon, etc. are interested in...

Thanks for sharing. It's incredible strong footage, you just have to look at the histogram. Even after torturing it doesn't fall apart. It's almost a punishment to get back to GH4 footage after playing what comes from the terra. Luckilly the BMPCC gives a bit of the terra feel

Are you using an external recorder? Are you using weather sealed lens (and need them)? Would you use the YAGH? If you answer no to these three questions (which all require significant extra costs), then almost 95% likely the Panasonic G85 will be a better choice for you than a GH4. There is still a few small percent left over for a few other small niche cases (such as if you think the 96fps slow motion quality is mighty fine and want to use it all the time?!).

This. The NX1 showed what could be done. Yeah, it's flawed in some ways, but for a first time outing, it's one badass camera. I actually own a Nikon Super-8 camera. For the era and the media, it's pretty badass. Great mix of value and features. Nikon could easily do a sub-$2k cinema camera. Not holding my breath.

Some I didn't touch at all such as the 2.7 linear shots. No noise reduction, no sharpening, didn't do any external color correction! With a modified 3x zoom lens on a hero 4 on Karma you see how the stabilization is:

Indeed, I've been wanting one of these APS-C compacts for *aaaaggggeeesssss*! I *almost* purchased the Nikon Coolpix A when it went on the massive special, but didn't... other priorities! As really any compact is just going to be a luxury toy for me, and not a tool. One day when I can spare the cash I will. Probably once the older ones secondhand drop down to around US$200ish

Yea, D5 is the only flagship DSLR with 4k 4:2:2 HDMI output at the moment, but its not enough in 2016. Moreover, its not like the expected features need rocket science. Its already done by others. I'm pretty sure Nikon engineers are capable of delivering the best 10bit log profiled image with most refined color science, efficiently encoded. The problem is their boss doesn't ask them to do it.

Yeah Im excited to see if it's a keeper. I adore the x100t and borrow one all the time from a friend. But I would most likely never bring it out since my Leica can easily replace it. And my favorite fov on the Leica is 28mm. There is one style of shooting I really like, stealth/candids up close. For film I use a small voigtlander with a 15mm. Shooting from the hip pretty much everything is in frame. And already at f5 or so, 1m to infinity is in focus. I can stand next to someone, point the camera far of from them and still capture them from head to toe. I dont have a digital equivalent for this thats as small. Enter the x70. I wont be able to point it as far of the subject with the 28mm. But with me looking downwards poking at the touch screen, they will more likely think Im just fiddeling in menus. Meanwhile I use the touch to focus and shoot feature in combination with the dead silent leaf shutter... pow I will keep you posted.

Oh! Be interested to hear your review of the X70 I'd be much keener on the X70 if it had the same lens on it as the X100 series has, as I prefer the FoV

Companies like Canon, Nikon, Fuji, even Pentax have a traditional camera lineage that gives them a little leeway and insight into these changing times. I personally think, waiting to include some of these features, we consider a necessity, is the smartest thing they could have done and I would question how it's helped the big electronic manufacturers by including them? Panasonic trails Canon in mirrorless market share. Sony can't make a consumer grade camera that doesn't implode upon normal use. And then there's Samsung... And then there wasn't Samsung.

A dedicated video camera is out of question for Nikon. They don't make sensors. Sony has its own fab(s), Canon hss its own, Panasonic has its own (plus Towerjazz), so Nikon has to ask someone to make a video optimized sensor for them, and because its very low volume market, that will be hugely expensive. Df is niche, but its sensor is not. Besides, even if they find a reasonably priced sensor, the mount problem remains. Most serious video shooters are in PL camp, or using Canon lenses, or already adapting their old lenses to Sony's open mount. These people have no interest for F mount. No, it clearly makes no sense, businesswise. The thing is they are letting their customers to experience and finally embrace other options. When a DSLR shooter realizes he needs a secondary camera for video jobs, which is probably a mirrorless, he slowly discovers that secondary camera can also take pretty high quality stills in situations he wouldn't expect it to perform well, so asks himself Why I should keep using my bulky DSLR in every shoot? Its not even dangerous for DSLR business, its disaster.

That sucks, I could pick one up within 10min if I wanted to. Yeah, that's also a good way. The XT2 included a 35mm if one preordered etc. Deals are everywhere for those that look I often get 20% on new cameras the first week from one of the stores because I subscribe to their newsletter. They don't do it for things like a Canon 5Dmkiv but they did for the NX1 and A7sii. Mirrorless doesn't do very well here so they need to boost sales a little to get it going. (BTW I definitely stopped myself from buying it, while browsing on it I accidentally impulsed a Fuji X70. So no more shopping for a while.)

There is another fact though, Nikon eas aleays a photo company, and photo isn't equal to video. Until very recently in time, pbotograpby and filmography (or videography) were completely apart in theory and practice. Nikon's perception of the truth that says "there are two kinds of people..." shows that for them this is an issue, not an opportunity, as they are excelled in making photo cameras (look how much better results are squeezing out of the same Sony sensors) and the negative accent of his replies show the "agony" of a craftsman of the past that is not willing, or able, to follow the modern world's reality. Electronics companies like Panasonic, Sony and Samsung are more adaptable of what people need, and the market can do to people like these, so it is normal to see the most innovation (so much, as it becomes gimmicky), features, and marketing tricks out of these companies. I have the outmost respect for Nikon, and if I was a still photographer it couod have been my bramd of choice but soon it will be number 3 (Sony is already eating up its sales) and the future is not that bright. Fuji (another traditionalists and photo experts) with their interviews of the last 2 years, are declaring that video is number one priority for the evolution of their system and that they have recognized the need of the market for hybrid cameras. Honestly, last year's rumor that Samsung could give Nikon the NX system was the best thing could happen to Nikon. Imagine a NX1+D500 = NXF1 Nikon mirrorless with all the innovation and technology of Samsung, and all the right decisions and wisdom (and lenses!) of an image specialist as Nikon.

I think it's OK for photos when you have the camera pressed up against your face. It's probably meant for small hand tremors. So with a lot of consideration for holding the camera as steady as possible, you can do some pans and still shots. Nothing beyond that such as walking with it or trying to pan without monitoring. I think we are still overestimating the importance of video and definitely of cinema cameras. Simple gallup at work. I have about 20 people close to me there. Maybe two of them have an old camcorder and about the same number of Gopros. Zero owns a cinema camera. Every single one of them owns a still camera or even two + a smartphone. Only one of them have ever edited a video outside of work. Some have done videos in there spare time for the christmas party at work, so it doesn't count And thats where I work. I think it would be even less video at a factory or clothing store. If I was Nikon I wouldn't sink a dime in the video business unless I had to. And then the smartphone market would be further up my list. And as far as I can tell the biggest market for video among regular people is for blogs/selfies and action cameras. Thats why weird cameras like the Canon X sells really good. And Nikon did release three dedicated video cameras just a few weeks ago that suits that segment.

Just have one setting: "Unlock Pro Video Settings" Default send it shipped out set to "Off", but then users can switch it to "On" which will enable several more pages and submenus worth of video settings to be viewable. Well.... I reckon Nikon are ahead of Canon in the video DSLR game, but the gain is not really large enough for everyone (it is for some though) to make it worth switching, as if you're going to switch away from Canon.... why not just go to Sony or Panasonic instead? That is Nikon's problem in attracting video shooters away from Canon, they can't just moderately beat Canon by little bits (like they have with the D5200, D750, D500, etc). They need to also bring out a higher end above that is focused on video to complement their video DSLRs (such as the C100/C300 and FS5/FS7 does). In a world in which the market share for dedicated stills cameras is massively declining each and every year, Nikon can not survive by focusing on only one or two niches, they need a broader platform to support themselves. The video/film world is an obvious and natural next step for them.

It's a "big problem" for Nikon only if they are designing a camera by committee, with one half of the table saying one thing and the other half saying another, which I'm afraid it looks like they are doing, at least in terms of the product feedback from pros.

It really depends. If your handholding technique is good and/or you use a cheap shoulder rig, you can get pretty usable handheld with no IS, provided you use a reasonable focal length. I do so regularly with my 12mm and 17mm lenses, and even got a few nice 25mm handheld shots on the BMPCC (although it takes on a little Paul Greengrass "nervousness" at that point). Narrative tends to be almost entirely on sticks, dollies, and cranes, so I don't see the lack of IS as a deal-breaker if I like the camera in every other regard. Building it up a bit will also give it a more "professional" handheld look, as the added inertia will resemble what you get with a larger cinema camera (think Breaking Bad).

Have you seen how many YT views explosive Note7s get? I bet an explosive Note7 on an Edlkrone slide would raise enough money for 2 Pixels ;). P.S. If Samsung hadn't fucked up (or I didn't care about 3rd degree burns) Note7 would be in my pocket instead of the Pixel.

Btw, sliding V2 clamp with anamorphic lens on a rail is possible, so changing taking lens can be quickly done. People asked about how solid is the V2 clmap. I tried HIFI-2 (3.48lb), Bauch & Lomb attachment I (3.68lb), Bell & Hewell (6.49lb), See picture of holding them with the clamp on the rail. My tripod mount start titling when mounting the Bell & Hewell, but the clamp is still showing no sign of deflecting. When playing with this clamp, I realize it could be also used as a handheld arm for holding the anamorphic lens & the camera together, just like the director view finder, see the picture below of KOWA 35mm anamorphic lens, Rokinon 85mm and GH4 held together by the V2 clamp. It is coming, it will be a dedicated variable diopter, which is optimized for the modded lens, but it has standard thread size, not 75mm for sure, you can reuse it for other anamorphic lens, but result is not guaranteed.

SLR Magic primes get my absolute highest recommendation. I use them for almost every project and they produce beautiful results every time. If I had to choose one single lens, I'd go with the Voigtlander 17.5mm f/0.95 for a prime and the C/Y Zeiss 28-85mm f/3.3-4 on a Speed Booster XL for a zoom.

Thank you Carlic, what you see is only a perception caused by an increase in brightness, picture 1 (without NXL) and picture 2 (with NXL) have the same purple fringing, no sane photographer would shoot to 1.8 (1.4 with NXL) in the midday sun! Remember that I am using a Canon 50mm 1.8 cheap lens, it created the purple fringing. I today took a picture at 10:30 morning, when the sun is back my shoulders , always f1.8, no purplue fringing and excellent sharpness. Raw file : SAM_0616.dng

Eeeh? Even for Metabones 10k is chump change. 10k won't get you a single good developer for 6 months. I'm certain that at least a few people worked for quite some time on that. That said, progress would be much faster if I had a 40 hour week to work on this instead of maybe a handful of hours every other weekend or so.
