Samsung NX Speed Booster

Here a quick test were you can see something.Of course the light is quite shitty, but the day out was horrible (a lot of rain)... It's made with my vintage lens m42 Takumar smc 35-50-200 mm.I think that if we want to test possible purple fringe we have to use a newer lens(my takumar has just purple fringe without the adapter...so..)As you can see the increase of light is really good and the sharpness too, in all of the frame for me(I ve to make some test at work with a grade 1 monitor for really better result). I've noticed a little flou effect on 50mm takumar at 2.8 f..I've to investigate better because I'm not sure that is the adapter. All the clips are taken with a tripod in the same position. I will post the camera setting later, and a wetransfer link with the original files(this are converted in h264 from Premiere cc ...sorry but I've to work again this evening, I hope that this will be useful for someone! p.s. when I have buied the adapter from Luca I've to tell that I was thinking..."why I've to spend all of this money for a simple piece of metal with a lens ...when I've see the piece I've understood that the construction is really complicated(if Luca want, I can post some detail of the adapter..) Small update on the lut pack, I didnt have much time to finish all of them yet this weekend, and I really want them to all serve a purpose and be used for different scenarios, so I will need another week. Heres a small update on one of them, that is actually one of my favorite ones. And full images : These examples were all one click only, no tweaking necessary. This lut will be called Greenleaf.3 points -
+1 Like he said. I would really consider the audience too. I understand that we love topics like cameras, lenses, framing, editing, etc. BUT, most these guys who are probably taking this course for an easy A... probably won't be interested in the stuff that we talk about daily. In my opinion, consider the audience and the time limit of the workshop. Then show enough to arose curiosity so they can learn all the other stuff on their own. If I was you, I would ask everyone what's their favorite movie, then get a consensus of one popular movie. Throw the trailer of that movie through projector (via YouTube) and breakdown the trailer... scene by scene. Make it interactive and at the end... tell them about camera, lens, lighting, composition, etc.2 points

For low budget clients I would just keep the final render (and tell them of course). If you need to keep the project for referencing I would create small proxies & the project settings, cause storing everything in high quality not only drives up costs but it's pain to manage after years. You could also keep the files for 1-2 years and then delete just in case you need them again. Gia xara1 point -

mercer reacted to Brad Bjornstad for a topic
Hey guys, I am currently in the running for the People's Choice award for best music video for RIVVRS: CONQUER! If you could take a few seconds to vote that would mean the world to me! This is a very important video and winning this competition would be such an honor and a blessing. Not only is it a tribute to my beautiful wife Kari, but to all the Cystic Fibrosis warriors out there - past, present and future. The winning video will get a lot of exposure, and that means a lot of awareness for CF! That's the goal! VOTE HERE: http://www.filmconvert.com/videos/detail?userVideoId=2288&TotalCount=0&CompetitionId=4&SkipCount=0 This was all shot in the Sony a7S and I hope you guys enjoy. It's a project near and dear to my heart. Again, here is the link to vote below! Please vote! http://www.filmconvert.com/videos/detail?userVideoId=2288&TotalCount=0&CompetitionId=4&SkipCount=0 Best wishes, Bradley1 point -

Denying the platform to speak is the real problem in a democracy. If Trump's rhetoric attracts people, we should look at why people are attracted to his views in the first place, and not blame media or Trump. I would never vote for Trump, but given the responses that float around I am starting to believe that there is a serious disconnect between people in the states. Maybe US just got the president that actually represents the views of the average citizen and that should definitely get explored more. If anything this election will help people really understand the properties of a Democracy. Are media biased ? Sure, but they should never be the platform of a Democracy.1 point -
No. I actually don't know what you mean. I sometimes try to explain things which are different with this camera, compared to others. Most of the time I respond to false conclusions about the camera. It definitely has it's downsides like any other camera, too. My intention is to clarify, which means that I don't respond to opinions which are drawn from right assumptions. This might look defensive. Regarding my last post I was just guessing, what kind of people will buy this camera. It's like what kind of people by Macs. But regarding this topic I get really defensive. ;-)1 point

Now that I worked for the first time with audio other than just slamming some soundtrack beneath a video, I found out why everybody is so keen on a mic socket :D I have to agree with @Cinegain, once they fix the G80 stabilisation issues, this might be the perfect travel camera for me - with mic in, weather seeling and the fully tiltable screen. Sure, it is a tad larger than the GX80, so i still would keep it if i have to go really small (and put the pana 20 on it). Now if the oly pro zooms would have IS so we could have Dual IS... that would be just awesome.1 point

Ha. No worries. I do enjoy taking stills and a zoomlens is very practical, especially if you're accompanied and nobody wants to wait around for you to figure out the best composition and settings. You know, the Veydra Mini Primes were created with the MFT system in mind and come in the flavors 12, 16, 25, 35 and 50mm (and well, 85mm). So basically, a 12-60mm is like a whole set of nice focal lengths for M43. Image quality isn't terrible, but isn't stellar either. Sensitivity isn't that great. Like you said, it's a compromise. The dual IS2 is killer, though. It was a hundo more with it than without it and indeed, you can always sell it. But it's a new lens in the line-up and I was curious. Though, that's a problem as I'm always curious and I always rather find out myself than read a review by some tech review site I don't know.1 point

GX8, GX80, G80, then version difference amongst the same model, they really make it easy on themselves... someone else made a good comment the other day. Reviews and exposure are going to suck for Panasonic because there would be a lot of hits on a single name... yet... now it's spread between G80, G81 and G85. 675 US$ would be a damn good deal. My order total was £815.96, which was a tiny bit over €900 back then. Body only here sells for €899, but my order from the UK included the 12-60mm and a Panasonic 64GB card. Plus, because I bought it there within a promotional time frame, I was able to apply for the free battery grip (did that two days ago, for some reason you have to wait atleast 28 days before submitting your claim), let's see if they'll actually send me one. So, not too bad of a deal. I think the G80 shares the E-M1 Mark II philosophy. It's for the hybrid shooter, but one that doesn't neccessarily need it for cinematic applications (where one would appreciate LOG, anamorphic mode, et cetera), as such they're not paying the premium price of having the GH-flagship model. Think mainly, they just appreciate to have the weather sealing, vari-angle touchscreen, 5-axis body image stabilizer and a mic-in socket, the more practical things. The G7 stepped up sensor performance quite a bit, the GX80 introduced 4K with sensor stabilization. Then they smashed both together and added some whipped cream and a cherry on top. It's currently the best thing Panasonic has to offer, until the GH5 arrives. But word is... the GH5 is going to be priced along the lines of the E-M1 Mark II (€1999; which I actually think is a supercool price (for the GH5, not so much the E-M1 Mark II; they should've just called it the E-M1 Pro already, then we wouldn't perhaps be arguing that the E-M1 successor is way more expensive than the original... but the public might've understood that a pro/premium body to go with pro/premium lenses is just going to have a premium price)). So, overall, the G80 remains attractive for all sorts of reasons.1 point

What Trump means for new camera technology
Don Kotlos reacted to Gregormannschaft for a topic
Maybe this has been said already, but what happened in England with Brexit and in the States with Trumps election is the need for serious filmmakers to undertake projects that will create empathy between two groups in society who refuse to understand the other. There's a need for compassionate research and an open ear, to understand why people are attracted to Trump's vile statements. I don't believe people are inherently racist, homophobic or xenophobic and nor do I believe all Trump supporters/Brexit'ers are - that stereotype must be destroyed. I was at a party a few weeks ago with a lot of doc filmmakers and I was surprised at how angry they were and how quick they were to label supporters of Trump as, basically, idiots. What doc filmmakers have here is an opportunity to heal and to give voice to a lot of people who feel cut off from the privileged. I just hope we don't go about this in a condescending newsy way.1 point -
Out now: FCP X 10.3
Axel reacted to Lintelfilm for a topic
Indeed! I never wanted to use them - in fact I didn't even know they were there! But after I updated to 10.3 the metadata from my cameras saying "shot in Canon Log" started getting read by FCPX and automagically processed. Not what I wanted at all. Particularly as I didn't know it was doing it or where to find the place to turn it off. The function of the Log Processing however is not to act as a grading LUT. It does have its uses. It's for editors working with log footage who want to work with a more "realistic" image prior to the grading stage. The processing would always be turned off again prior to being handed off to a colourist. However I'd ETTR'd all my shots so the built in processor was just blowing everything. Suffice to say my post was just a warning that Log Processing got turned on automatically for me, so watch out!1 point -
Unless you are shooting with a subtle 1.33x stretch, there are sadly not many options for shooting wider than 50mm FF on the a7s in the budget anamorphic market. Helios 44M is in itself not an anamorphic adapter, but is widely used in the anamorphic society as a "taking lens". People tend to pair it with the Mir-1, Jupiter 9 and Tair 11. Contax Zeiss lenses are also known to pair well with anamorphic adapters. A good start would be to read and do your research on this forum. To give you a quick overview Most common stretch factors and scopes/adapters: 1. 1.33x - Slr Magic Anamorphot/Century optics/Optex/LA7200. You can go as wide as 28mm with the Pany LA7200. 2.37:1 aspect ratio 2. 1.5x - Iscorama/Bolex-Möller. 58mm is usually a safe bet, but in some cases you can go wider with pancake lenses. 2.67:1 aspect ratio 3. 2x - Kowa/Schneider/Isco. 75mm+. 3.56:1 aspect ratio1 point

Never use the built-in luts. You can't color correct the image underneath (the way you could with LUTutility on an adjustment-layer) and bring back the highlights. You can only grade on top of that lut, after it has limited the signal!1 point -

Mercer I think you're an FCPX user? Having looked at the documentation from apple the log processing feature was actually present before 10.3 so if I were you I'd find those old clips that were getting blown and see if that was the problem. In the inspector choose the info tab and at the bottom change the drop down menu to "settings". Set log processing to none and voila, no clipping! I bet that's what your issue was too. For some reason it only started happening to me after I updated to 10.3 but it's worth a try...1 point -

those kids should JUST MAKE STUFF thats my advice they should edit together *something* before they even know it having them start doing things to ask questions about asap, capitalize on that innocent enthusiasm~! like heres an exercise: tell a short story about nothing with your camera. a girl making coffee, thats it: thats not a story, but in terms of various shots that make a visual narrative through juxtaposition and other techniques of the language that we call cinema, of course it is! dunno how your workshop is structured or if any of that is possible lol, but at the very least id encourage them to USE WHAT THEY HAVE, AND SHOOT STUFF.1 point

Hi, last xmas I watched all of Werner Herzogs youtube content (having been watching his films for the last 10 years), so I know his methodology pretty well. I love how he suggests that you should get a job as a bouncer at a strip-club rather than go to film school and how you don't need to ask permission to film anything these days - I am going to quote him of both of these comments... Thanks! I think I am going to take that course, and Aaron Sorkins - have you taken that one Liam?1 point -

I've just been wondering the same thing. I've only noticed the blown areas since updating to FCP 10.3. Perhaps I need to see if I can tweak the interpretation levels somehow. I'll also look at the footage in resolve to see if that changes anything. Thanks!1 point -
As teenagers, they will probably already have a good idea of what kind of things they like. Maybe it would be good to ask them about their favourite scenes in their favourite films and then teach them some of the techniques used to create that scene?1 point

I produced an HDR video, edited in Resolve and followed Youtube's instructions to the letter. When i uploaded the 10bit, 4:4:4 REC 2020 DNxHR with metadata signaling HDR injected by Resolve video to Youtube, Youtube did not recognize it as HDR. So it did transcode it and it can be streamed, but it is all washed out in SDR and viewed on a tv in HDR mode it is colorful in an odd way compared to the original. Early days.1 point
