Game of Egos
iamoui and one other reacted to fuzzynormal for a topic
I'm actually comfortable with being ignorant of information that we'll never understand. Not sure how any being in this universe is going to be able to answer the "why/how are we here?" question. Even if the species learns all else, it stills leads to that point where once there was nothing, then there was something. And how do you answer a question of nothingness? It's like trying to multiply with a zero. Knowing the other nuances is all good though. Discovery is fun. BTW, this discussion seems like something I'd say when I was younger, stoned, and eating a loaf of WonderBread with grape jelly. Therefore, for whatever it's worth, I deem it worthwhile.2 points -

One Camera - For Life?

Oh no! 80 inches?? Show me a flaw in the image of The Wizard of Oz on a 50 foot screen On the contrary, sounds like even your future's future is the past of my current present.1 point -
Personally, would be a happy camper with any of them (except the Scarlet) ... (and maybe even the UMP if low-light performance was a key factor). But then I have pre-ordered a Kinefinity Terra 4K1 point

I noticed a lot of cheating had been going on :-o Makes it so so much easier if I could just pick one lens per mount! haha Wait, 10. Too late. I meant 100.1 point

@fuzzynormal Isaac Asimov wrote a short story called "The Last Question" which is relevant to your comments and this discussion: http://multivax.com/last_question.html (full text here, just a few minutes to read). @Kisaha it's super cool that Nintendo put shrooms (Amanita muscaria) in Super Mario Bros. The 'enlargening" isn't physical in real life with shrooms, it's mental/spiritual These kinds of conversations ultimately affect how we treat each other. It doesn't matter what each of us thinks individually. It does matter when we physically interact with the world and each other. Omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent: that's what all humans connected via the internet compose. Quantum physics experiments show that consciousness effects experiments, and Princeton's experiments show further intriguing interactions with thought and physical reality. Thus there may be some truth to visions on DMT/shrooms that we are all connected in a metaphysical way* and collectively co-create reality together (where consciousness is primary). If that's all "true", what does that make us? *related to entanglement in quantum physics and the Big Bang (everything emerging from a single point of unity)1 point

Quick encoding question.
EthanAlexander reacted to sina_html for a topic
I usually deal with this situation, a lot of clients want a version for social networks. I've made 5 minute videos under 20 MB a lot. I use Handbrake to re-encode a high quality master from Premiere, my check list goes like this: 1. lowering the resolution of the image to 720p or even 480p 2. making the sound mono and lowering the bit-rate as much as possible depending on the content. 3. In Handbrake, there are two encoding modes, constant quality and specified bit-rate, with constant bit-rate, you can specify the size of the output file quite accurately but constant quality mode is more efficient so I use it and experiment with different setting until I get the required file size. 4. there is constant and variable frame rate options but I haven't experimented with them and don't know how much do they affect the file size or how reliable a variable frame rate file can be. 5. encoder levels and standards may need to meet a certain requirement depending on the platform that you are going to use the video on. Another way that comes to my mind is to upload your video to Vimeo and then download one of the lower quality re-encoder version that meets your file size requirements.1 point -

Yeah, I’ve described the 5D3 as a point and shoot cinema camera... especially since I have been shooting handheld with it with my Canon IS lenses. I’ve been working on a project since April. It was originally intended as a short film designed to get my feet wet with ML Raw, but then I’ve been getting such good footage, it has grown into something more. Here are a few screengrabs from it... Since this project may just end up as an impromptu feature, I’m currently writing some micro short film scripts to shoot in between. I’m hoping to get 60p working and it will be the ultimate camera for my needs. Btw, I really enjoyed you Last Day of Summer short. You obviously have a firm grasp of cinema.1 point

Hello Andrew, I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work with EOSHD…I have been following for years and this is my first response on the forum. Hi every one! I hope in some way this is useful for the community, as I did a quick test of the ”EOSHD Pro Color Premium Bundle”. If everything attaches properly you will see comparison shots of: PP OFF_Sony Neutral PP 1_EOSHD Pro LOG Cinema PP 2_EOSHD Pro LOG S PP 3_EOSHD LOG PP 4_EOSHD Pro Color Original PP 5_EOSHD Color XR Notes: • “Balanced” and “WideDR2” are the EOSHD Pro LUTs that are applied to Cinema / LOG S / LOG (no other adjustments). • “CC1” refers to slight final adjustments of exposure and contrast to more closely match the comparisons (no specific change of color or saturation in the post process). • The post process was done in Adobe Premiere with Lumetri Color panels • I doubled checked all settings and did a custom white balance of 5100K (no other adjustments) • Some shots where slightly over or under exposed, but I wanted to maintain ISO (800 / 3200) and aperture settings. Lights that where used for the shoot: Key Light - Aputure LS 1 (5500K 40% Power) Hairlight - Aputure AL-528W (Default Daylight 50% Power) Fill - Silver Bounce (40Inch) FYI…I have never used Sony’s built in Creative Styles or Picture Profiles since owning the camera, and realized after the fact that “Neutral” is actually close to a graded style. In hind sight, I am thinking I should have used “Standard” instead for the comparison. I am very excited about the color of "EOSHD Pro LOG Cinema" and the freedom to move away from 3200 ISO, not sure how much loss in dynamic range there is but I will keep testing. I apologies in advance if I have in any way misrepresented the ”EOSHD Pro Color Premium Bundle” in this test and I am open to any constructive criticism.1 point

How High An ISO Will You Go On Your GH5???
Orangenz reacted to Fritz Pierre for a topic
1600 is safe but well exposed 3200 will work for a must get shot!...for shooting fast the GH5 is the ideal camera, but it takes getting up to speed with...I would stay away from Vlog at high ISO and shoot standard, Like709 or CineD...a problem that might occur for you if you shot in Vlog is that even the preview luts in the LCD are quite low contrast, so if a client was looking at what you were shooting on the LCD they'd get the wrong impression...the 1st 2 profiles would be no post and CineD a dropped LUT and perhaps a slight contrast adjustment....all very ready out of camera looks. Personally I like the results hooting in 4K and downscaling to 1080, or however you deliver the content.1 point -
1600 is my max, 95% of the time... 3200 in a pinch. Nothing higher though.1 point

This was my very first time shooting 180fps with the GH5. I was too affraid that the image will be soft, but now, I'm good with it. It is soft, but for youtube, still above average :D Please do not laugh loudly, we did our best to do something stupid (PS: there are english lyrics, just wait for it).1 point

Yeah in an ideal world I'd like to try out a full Zaxcom system, as I like how their wireless can work together with their recorders. But...... PRICEY! :-o Had a fellow local sound recordist just get a Sonosax SX-R4+, the first (and only) one in the country! It is impressively small for what it can do. But.... PRICEY! :-o :-o On his Sonosax kit he spent over NZ$10K0 points
