More love for the Sony A6500?
kidzrevil reacted to UncleBobsPhotography for a topic
I have attached a 10000mA power bank to my camera cage which charges the camera through USB. Helps with the heat issue, I never run out of battery and the added weight is good for stabilisation. I'm using the RX1RM2, but it should work for the a6500 too.1 point -

More love for the Sony A6500?

In my experience slog3 bands on walls as well. And there are plenty of those in the city1 point -
C’mon you gotta at least try sLog3. I know there are reports of banding issues but I would think that may be limited comsidering you shoot in the city and get very limited open sky shots. The color and detail is insane in sLog3. Honestly, I was kinda hoping your due diligence with testing cameras’ capabilities would crack the sLog3 on the a6500 and tempt me to buy another one eventually.1 point

Best super 35mm camera?
webrunner5 reacted to BenEricson for a topic
I agree with this. The F3 is truly a beautiful image. The FS700 has excellent features, but from a purely image standpoint, the F3 looks much better. Depends what you're shooting 4K/120p is pretty awesome. If you shoot a lot of interviews, you may regret the FS700.1 point -
Nikon D850 vs everything

Of course there's the "i" and "info" buttons and you can cycle display modes but none of the cycles remove the filename stamp during recording or the clip time remaining counter unfortunately. Why aren't Nikon testers picking up on stuff like this... Oh I forgot they are all "yes men"1 point -
Looking forward to seeing your footage with this!1 point

Because it's not supposed to be "to your liking", it's supposed to be as specified. There's a reason we have things like Rec709, etc. The TV should come with those set, then people can bend them to their liking (frame interpolation, contrast on max, etc.). I wonder how people feel who professionally color grade stuff for cinema when they see it played on consumer TV sets. People here hate on Sony because the colors aren't perfect and then think it's perfectly fine that TVs/computer monitors/mobile phones show everything completely distorted anyway? I'm still stuck with my 2008 Panasonic plasma TV that I setup as good as I could while using a display probe (incl. output LUT in Davinci Resolve, etc.). The picture is great and it tremendously decreases my pleasure of watching movies at my friend/family's places.1 point

SD card storage system /labeling
Aussie Ash reacted to Teemu for a topic
I just use simple card holder wallet that's waterproof and have a simple method: Leftside of the wallet I keep empty unused ones sticker face up = empty cards. On rightside of the wallet I put cards "facedown" (non-sticker side facing up) = used cards. Simple and cheap but works. Don't buy any extra accessories for just to mark down used or unused stuff because you most likely have all the needed materials/methods for that. Just waste of money, I think. Invent your own method that best suits for you. Teach the same method to your assistants who are helping you and people who are involved with the gear that needs to be organized.1 point -
SD card storage system /labeling
Aussie Ash reacted to sondreg for a topic
http://www.fangsfilmgear.com/wolf-packs.html - This is the only thing I've heard of, personally don't have a lot of cards so don't have one of these. You put ready to use ones in one satchel, and used up ones in the other. Then as you clean the footage off you put them in the correct satchel. What I use is a simple 4x SD Card Case for 5 bucks1 point -

It cost a lot more than what you think to get a camera package together that will cover all your shooting needs, start of with something manageable that will make you happy, but don't over do it on the spending. If you don't need 4K, start with the best 1080p camera package you can afford, but remember there are a lot extras that go with any camera so budget those in! Here in the US (west coast) you can find young owner operators practically giving away fully loaded camera packages with full support and themselves for very cheap rates, I see these ads all the time on Craigslist, they range from URSA PRO's to RED DRAGONS even ALEXA's, sometimes you're better off renting only what you need for the project. The items that will deprecate the quickest are todays digital cameras, be aware you may never make your money back on these very costly tools. Just log onto any Craigslist site in the US and go to Photo and Video for sale, you will see the nutty prices for owners with their cameras for rent. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/d/photo-video/search/pha1 point

I think you're vastly over thinking things. the 10bit 4:2:2 into a 300eur video assist is more than adequate and will write to cheap SD cards. By the time you upgrade to another camera and need the convergent 7q will no longer be future proof and the devaluation will have set in.1 point

Personally, would be a happy camper with any of them (except the Scarlet) ... (and maybe even the UMP if low-light performance was a key factor). But then I have pre-ordered a Kinefinity Terra 4K1 point

We don't need global shutter anymore. When Sony switch to smaller node (16nm?) and bigger DRAM, the scan speed will reach to mechanical shutter. Even Nikon's upcoming mirrorless DX camera is rumored ditching the mechanical shutter.1 point

I am 100% that there is no scientific proof of G(g)od's (or plural Gods) existence, or the opposite. For me both are equally possible. In anyway, if they/he/she/it exists is beyond human comprehension, so they/he/she/it will know what to do with me, without expecting much! I prefer to concentrate on humans, and their behavior, animals, plants and this planet. Whatever it is, this is it. You can not put any more coins, but you can just eat a few mushrooms I guess, they can make you bigger and blinking in retro NES quality! Also is true, something we don't know yet, can become common knowledge and a scientific law, not much later. Alchemists and wizards were scientists of the past in primitive cultures. Imagine your grand grand parents visiting you from the past. My grand mother is 95 years old, they were litterally living in utterly poverty. They had limited primitive tools, her father fought 4 wars and her husband (my grand father) 3. Just watch the last Simpsons episode to get a glimpse of a few centuries back. We are living in exciting times, the best ever in knowing history.1 point

I'm actually comfortable with being ignorant of information that we'll never understand. Not sure how any being in this universe is going to be able to answer the "why/how are we here?" question. Even if the species learns all else, it stills leads to that point where once there was nothing, then there was something. And how do you answer a question of nothingness? It's like trying to multiply with a zero. Knowing the other nuances is all good though. Discovery is fun. BTW, this discussion seems like something I'd say when I was younger, stoned, and eating a loaf of WonderBread with grape jelly. Therefore, for whatever it's worth, I deem it worthwhile.1 point -

Wait... didn't I just do that? Or do you mean you DO want a comment with that video? Ok, here it is (as the post can't be edited now): "What a BUMMER that Panasonic won't let more footage from the EVA1 to be shown! Instead we were just left to listen to them describe it :-/ :-( " Same! Always amusing to watch.1 point

Indeed, the NX1 (with 16-50S/50-150S) produces the best video quality i have ever seen. I like my GH5 for IBIS, 6K video, V-LOG etc but i prefer the 4k video from the NX1 (color, sharpness and contrast).1 point
