An update on the NX-L speed booster for the Samsung NX1
Francesco Tasselli and 2 others reacted to lucabutera for a topic
Hello mate, with the evolution of 3d jetprint, I'm getting good value for money. The biggest evolution of NX-L is the Plus version, this is the maximum for use as a videomaker, For color and quality I prefer NX1 + NX-L Plus to Blackmagic Ursa mini. The AF adapter without speedbooster is frozen and I will not go any further until Samsung decides to go back to producing cameras. I hope that in December I will be able to make a special offer to Eoshd friends.3 points -
A better way to grade Ursa Mini CinemaDNGs
Alpicat and one other reacted to Juan Melara for a topic
Hey all, I've just finished up a new grading tutorial especially for any of you shooting CinemaDNGs. It actually works with any CinemaDNG, not just limited to Blackmagic cameras. In the tutorial I show you how get access to the full dynamic range, richer colours throughout the full range, and all in a curve thats a lot nicer to grade than BMD Film. Feel free to leave any feedback or questions and I'll do my best to help you out!2 points -

You have the Soligor 35-70 2.8-3.5 in your arsenal? If so, would you give it a run on your beautiful Canon RAW beauty? What are your lenses not many seem to want? I read the Canon 28mm F2.0 is a real stinker to be sold for around 50 dollars! You wanna sell that one? Kidz, how can color rendering sound like anything?:) Just, teasin. You should give it a try. But please don´t give up that beautiful Panni. Not sayin Panny due to some amount of weirdness going along with that. If that is a good reason to see you shoot more with the Fuji, yeah, wanna see that too. But don´t pay a fortune for these lense you have been praising so much for the last couple posts. I think the Veydras are expensive enough. Though a super bargain, of course2 points

I’m exaggerating a little... but not by much... sadly. Good news is, it’s a blast trying to sell a bunch of lenses nobody wants.2 points -
Just be careful you're not too close without a pop guard, as then you might get busts of wind while speaking. Which is what happened during the video OP shared. And was thus very annoying while I was listening to it, each time it happened.2 points

Why you should run your own tests
Bozzie and one other reacted to Bioskop.Inc for a topic
His last comment, on the above video & the title of this post, is the truth - you have to test cameras yourself, do not rely on other people's tests/opinions. However, nowadays people don't/won't just blindly go out & buy a camera. So we look around at uploaded footage & try our hardest to make a decision, which is a minefield in itself. The guy seems to have made a mistake, but what an error, especially if you're blogging - hey, but shit happens. Personally, I loath comparison videos & would rather compare independent clips, but that's just me. BM cameras get a lot of negative comments & mostly from people who've come from a DSLR background - they simply don't understand that most high end cameras have loads of problems (RED send out technicians to movie sets, enough said). We all now know that BM cameras can produce lovely images, on a par to some of these high end cameras & most importantly, for a decent price. Do you remember the marketing lies when FCPX came out? Premiere suddenly became this NLE that everyone was holding a torch to, when the reality of the situation was that no high end company was even using it to edit - the NLE of choice was AVID and then FCP7. It now turns out that the decision to rebuild FCP from scratch was a great idea, because it is now so much better than Premiere could ever hope to be. In fact Premiere now feels like a bad copy of the old FCP7 & brings nothing to the party - on top of this, you have to rent it from Adobe for a monthly fee. The NLE market now has loads of choices available, Lightworks & Resolve both have free editions or you pay a one off fee like FCPX - admittedly, Resolve is still developing, but it's nice to see Lightworks fully staking a claim again. So, who do you believe?2 points -

Okay, three lenses in the mix and a rented GH5 in 8bit 100mbps natural profile. FD 28 and 100, both stellar lenses, and a fun slr magic 12mm. all lenses shot at f4 and 800iso. Trailer is for my shortfilm I shot end of august. Trailer is for the soundguy, so he gets a feel before rough cut is finished.. I really like the cam and the FDs on a focalreducer. I think with a 28 and a 100 on a focal reducer you are set. Might put up a PW. It will be boxcar.1 point

Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
Neumann Films reacted to PannySVHS for a topic
Oh wow, I always get dizzy, when discussions heat up. Dear Jon, I understand your point of view regarding some forum posts, which can come across as repetetive to some and with contradictions within their own argumentation. We should take the challenge and still be able to understand eachothers different communicational behaviours and needs. Dear Vesku, I think your posts about the GH5 are starting to repeat its points. I enjoyed reading the first, second and third time but then I would start to miss some additional knowledge instead of the same and sometimes subjective information over and over again. For instance, I have shown a screenshot that there are obvious advantages of ALL I. Still, the disucussion about it has been keeping on going on over a few pages. One click on the thumbnail would have helped ending the doubts. ALL I shows much less IPB pixel clusters than IPB, to repeat my point on that issue this one time.:) As for showing footage, indeed, there are not many if hardly any shorts on the web, which were shot with a G7, G85 nor GX85. Three of the most discussed DSLMs on this forum and so very few real shortfilms on the net. Super cool! You guys have done so much awesome and motivating and inspiring stuff over the years! So you are avoiding to give us penny pinchers promises on GH5 HD RAW mode or full VLOG curve. Is that a sign you are giving, which we can misinterpret?1 point -
Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
Neumann Films reacted to PannySVHS for a topic
Luke, I rather watch your science fiction shortfilm instead. Unless you are really talking about a very few more weeks. Full VLOG curve instead of L for the GH5? HD RAW mode- should be piece of cake if DJI Osmo did it? Awesome BTS video on your science fiction film as well! Thanks a lot!1 point -
Odd talking in technical hobby forum. You this, you that, You are ...., you cant, you dont understand....etc, etc. Have I never said anything personal to anyone. English is not my mother language so I can not be so sensitive and polite all the time. I want to talk about camera features. If I have different opinions about gear is that rude? If I share my findings about my GH5 or my TV how can it insult you? Is there only one right and proper way to use our gear? Is it insulting to use camera differently than your way. Why it is bad to be exited about hobby? Is it important to share private videos online? Is it wrong to share information of hopes or issues? We have here in Finland very dark, depressive and wet season. I have now plenty of time to test my cameras and talk about my hobby online. Can you find my posts during last summer? What do you think I was doing? Yes I was shooting videos, thousands and thousands and my GH5 worked brilliantly. There is still always room for improvement. I am waiting new GH5 updates and new features. I hope Panasonic makes GH5 even better.1 point

@jonpais,well Jon, I agree, you got an awesome camera at your hands with the GH5. But I must say, the awesomest footage I´ve seen from you and pretty awesome in its own right is that one bw vignette of streetlife you shot withy our Fuji and the Zhinxx???:) crane. Awesome feel for the subjet(s) and action and place and point in time. And, awesome black and white look. Would love to see some vignettes of streetlife with the Laowa and your GH5. Maybe also give it one of the pretty nice Lumix BW modes a try.1 point

Had the A7R2, it’s a great camera, but imo, the GH5 is the better of the two for video. The codecs hold up much better in post. Personally I was never wild about the lowlight performance of the Sony, I think the 1DXM2 is much more organic in this regards. The GH5 checks most of the buttons. But if stills are the main use, Sony > GH5.1 point

Well hello there EOSHD forum readers, I've just posted my short film, Axiomatic, to Vimeo. Shot with an older version of the 5D3 Raw hack without the audio component - remember when we had to reload the Raw modules each time after restarting the camera? Ah well...it still worked flawlessly and I cannot thank all the ML developers enough for what they unlocked. 5D3 raw is simply amazing. Spanish, French and English subtitles are available for whomever needs them and viewer discretion may be advised as there is brief nudity, violence and coarse language. However I tried to make everything as tasteful as possible. Hopefully you can take some time out of your busy day to view it and please feel free to share it with any of your friends or contacts that might enjoy some dark Canadian cinema. Canon C200 or 1DX mkII for 4K 60fps
EthanAlexander reacted to mercer for a topic
If I were Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji and Olympus, I would join up to destroy Panasonic for disrupting the entire prosumer market with 10bit video. Now every other videographer, no matter their discipline or experience, believes they're getting ripped off if they don't get 10bit, even if they don't really need it.1 point -
For the stuff I do, there isn't a ton of return on an investment that high. A bride and groom don't give a crap about the resolution or whatever. YouTube content doesn't need to be perfect either. It's a luxury camera for sure for what I do. I think a C100 mk3 would suit my price range and needs better. Or a 90D with 4k .MP4 or something. With the release of the XF400 I'm hopeful that the same chip in that will carry on to C100 mk3 and potentially a 90D or something. Gonna hold out. In the mean time... I'll continue to rent the C2001 point

Advice about Olympus OM-D em1 II vs Panasonic etc. offers
leeys reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
Don't worry about the codec on the E-M1 II, it's very good. Minor differences between that and the superior 10bit on the GH5. And that price is very good indeed. The flat profile can actually be graded quite a lot before it falls apart. I should get my GH5 vs E-M1 II comparison shootout article and footage out, it's been a while and I haven't got round to it!1 point
