    NX1 RAW VIDEO???

@lucabutera I understand...I still will NOT put out something NOT corresponding to my personal criteria. So, be patient, please. As I understand, you are impatient, I will send you an (crippled) DNG example from an early release from last year. I will post it tomorrow afternoon, so you could get a first idea about my work. @All Stop bashing, insulting and any other conspiracy theory, you ALL will eat your words. It's fine and normal to be sceptical...But after reading some postings of this thread, you will come to the conclusion of "lynch mob". As said, NOW I do this for my integrity in the eyes of people knowing my identity. That's all. My interest in sharing my EXPERIENCE and HowTo is completely gone. Cheers

    NX1 RAW VIDEO???

No boy has been mistreated in this forum. We are a community, our mission is to share information. We have asked for a shred of evidence to support the declarations. He has lost more time writing excuses and posting screenshots than just uploading an original dng file and silencing everyone. This is a very suspicious behavior in the light of his statements. Furthermore, the tests provided, analyzed by expert photographers, have increased our doubts. Who is publicly accused of lying defends himself by showing evidence to his defense and humiliating those who accused him of lying, in fact this was his reaction "I'll show you the video on Vimeo" statement never contradicted Remember that the video on Vimeo does not constitute any proof, if this is his long awaited demonstration on April 1, it will still be a big disappointment for everyone. Nobody asked to have the availability of the hack, just a simple test that would not compromise his work. I think he is a prankster or in search of fame, or he wants to get a good sale, but this remains my opinion. nobody can feel offended by this. I like everyone I hope that the raw video is true but I keep my feet on the ground because all the facts and the lack of evidence deny it. I can not believe him by divine act of faith, and I discourage everyone from buying an NX1 camera if he believes he is shooting in raw. Today, for the good of the community, I want to end this discussion to dispel doubts and misunderstandings once and for all. Break the silence, today show everyone that you have developed a hack to shoot in RAW, even if still under development, share your information and I will send you for free an NXL adapter that is worth 429.00 euros, if you do not, you will prove that I am right. 3. Here's a bit of a review after using the X-H1 for about two weeks, both in a hobbyist/family setting and in my more professional workflow (video production is part of what I do for a living). As a caveat, I wouldn't consider myself a pro video guy, though. I'm a hobbyist who turned video into part of my full-time income. I started a company called 'Worship Tutorials', and a youtube channel is a big part of it - I do a lot of video work (probably 3-6 uploads a week to YouTube), so while I'm not doing work for clients, and I don't have a pro background, video quality is important to me. I also realize that the limitations I encounter are almost purely coming from me, not the gear. Background I've been using Sony bodies for about the past 2 years. Before that, I used Blackmagic stuff - Studio 4k bodies, and then an Ursa Mini 4.6k. That was overkill. My church used to use those, and I loved what they could do, but the workflow for me (working on my own pushing out that many videos) just wasn't good. So I sold all of it and jumped to Sony. First with an a7S ii, then the a7R ii (as a 2nd body), then I sold both of those and went with an a9 + a6500. The colors on the a9 are far, far better than the previous gen. a7 stuff. My frustration with Sony is color. And it's a huge deal to me - I believe color is one of the primary emotional pieces of video. And I hate the way Sony handles color. I do realize, though, that the IQ is there - plenty of people create beautiful work with Sony a7-series bodies, and I finally got good enough in post to make stuff that I thought looked great. But it's always a struggle for me - I feel like I'm always fighting for the colors I want. Then I started reading about the X-T2. So I rented (and then purchased) an X-T2, and honestly I loved it. I loved the handling, the physical controls, and especially the colors. Even still images in Lightroom were easier to get what I wanted (with the Sony raw images, I still felt like I was forever fiddling to get the colors I wanted). In video the image was just more pleasing to me. But it lacked things I really wanted - 120p slow motion, IBIS, smooth gradients from different light sources when ISO was set to auto, better auto-focus, etc. The Sony system was just better spec'd. Plus by this time I had invested in the 24-70 G-Master and the 70-200 G-Master lenses from Sony. These lenses are incredibly good. I returned the Fuji, but I've missed it. So another year of fighting with Sony footage, and then X-H1 is released. Again I rented one, and now I've purchased one (along with the 16-55 f/2.8). Several of the key features I wanted have been implemented - IBIS, high frame rate, etc. But to me, again, the killer feature is color, and with the introduction of Eterna, Fuji's color superiority is even better. Pros/Cons - Fuji vs Sony Over the past two weeks, I've shot a lot of video and stills side-by-side with my a9. Here are a list of thoughts... Auto-focus: The a9 (and presumably the a7 iii) is better with AF. Much better. But honestly the Fuji isn't bad, and it's good enough for what I do. This may be a make/break feature for some, though. High frame rate recording: Sony is better here again - the 120 and 60p footage is cleaner. But I've shot a lot of it with the X-H1, and it's certainly not bad. If you avoid things that you know are going to give you aliasing and moire problems, you'll be fine. For me, it will work. Dynamic range: Again, the nod goes to Sony, but it's very close. Especially if you use the 200 and 400% settings on the X-H1. Low Light: Sony wins here. Full frame, plus their magic with high ISO is hard to beat - honestly does anybody beat them? The X-H1 is acceptable, though. Honestly at 10,000 ISO it's a pretty useable image. We are spoiled with ISO performance. Five years ago (and especially 10 years ago), ISO 3200 was the top you could go, and many cameras looked like crap there. IBIS: Fuji is better in my opinion. Handling/ergonomics: I like the Fuji better - a lot. One thing I do like about the Sony cameras is the ability to set up custom presets for 4k 24p, 60p, and 120p (that's how I set mine up, anyway), and be able to instantly recall shutter speed, frame rate, and aperture in one move. On the X-H1, it's a 3 step process, although it's very fast after some practice. Lenses: Tie (but not if you consider how much they cost). The G-Master lenses I have are awesome. But they are very expensive, and big/heavy. Fuji lenses are very good and very affordable. And finally, the most important things - for me, personally... Image Quality: Fuji, by a lot. Now I agree with Tony Northrup's assessment of the 2x IQ thing, regarding stops. I get that technically, the Sony sensor is able to resolve more light, etc. I get that I can shoot at lower ISO's with the Sony, so from a noise-perspective it's cleaner. But when I look at footage shot side-by-side from both cameras, I pick the Fuji every single time. Especially when shooting with Eterna. It's not even close. Workflow: Fuji wins. Because the image is so much better out of the camera - for my tastes - the workflow is much faster. And at the rate that I make videos for my business (as well as candid home videos of family, etc), it makes an enormous difference for me. Even things like render times are way faster, because I'm doing much less manipulation to the image. Emotional impact: Fuji wins. I love using the Fuji system more. Because of my experience with the X-T2, I think I can say it's not a honeymoon thing, too. Although the a9 is a ridiculously awesome camera to use. I really do love it. The other emotional impact thing is the image quality - and I think the fuji wins here, too - because of color. Final thoughts The 'best camera' doesn't exist. Some are better technically than others, some produce a certain look that users may or may not want. Some lack features or have an abundance of features, but honestly the quality of work that is produced is going to lie with the person creating the work. These days cameras are so good that I don't think it matters what brand or model you use. The Sony stuff (especially the current gen stuff like the a9, a7R iii, a7 iii) is better on paper than the X-H1. There's no question. Is it better in actual use? Depends on who's using it. Personally, I think I could create the same quality work with either system, but I'm convinced the X-H1 will get me to the end goal faster. For you, it may be the other way around. Finally, I think the internet can be a toxic place for people who are looking to buy gear. People come into these discussion with biases, or they are far more concerned with spec's on paper than anything else. Personally, I'm actually kind of upset at myself for even considering switching from my Sony gear to Fuji - at some point I/we just need to ignore all the hype with new stuff and just make content - and get better at using the gear we have. Having said that, I'm probably going to sell all my Sony stuff and invest in Fuji. Sample Work Here's a video I just produced using the X-H1. I did about 6 takes of this song from different angles (which is why I need at least two cameras for what I do - three would be better). Edited/graded in Resolve. I shot it in Eterna, and honestly I did very little to the image. Just a tweak with white balance and contrast/saturation to taste. With my Sony cameras, this would have required 4-5 nodes using a LUT, color manipulation to lows/mids/highs, skin tone isolation/correction, etc. Here's a very similar project using the Sony a9 and the a6500 together: It's a bit different look, and I like it. But it took a lot to get there. Here's a video I shot with the X-H1 - again using Eterna, and graded in Resolve: And another with the a9, also graded in Resolve: Sorry for the massively long post. I know there are lots of people reading here probably trying to decide between the X-H1 and the a7iii. I'm one of them, so hopefully my experience can help you make that decision.

  4. I am a canon guy and if you look above you will see that I have bashed both the fuji and the sony for various reasons. So I have no brand loyalty between these two manufacturers. But I have to say that the fuji footage looks 2x better IMO. I can see two things at play here: 1. Color science is much better in the fuji. The skin tones are a dead give away. Look at the very first scene with the sony and see how blotchy and unappealing his skin looks. Then compare that with the fuji. I feel like I can see every pore on his skin with the Sony. There are oil blotches everywhere. Funnily enough, this is related to color. Despite your grading, the color still looks off with the sony. Particularly look at his skin at 0:19 secs in to the sony material. That is very hard to fix. Another thing people often fail to mention is color separation. If the skin tone is pronounced the subject is isolated from the background. Go to 1:32 on the fuji and 2:24 on the sony material, pause it and look how much more he pops on the fuji material. The sony material looks flat as pancakes. 2. I can see the codec is more robust. The image looks a lot smoother and sturdy. There is less of that digital sharpness that you get with the sony, which makes it look very videoy. Having said that, if someone is working purely as a videographer I would recommend a second hand c100 (mk I or II) any day of the week haha. For hybrid, the fuji wins for image alone.

  5. I think this Fringer EF>FX with AF adapter (when its ever available in stock again!) and the upcoming Kipon version with the focal reducer will make a big difference. I have to say though that the IBIS on the X-H1 bothers me more every time I look at demos on YouTube and is making me sit it out for a while yet to see how it progresses. It concerns me more than the AF issues actually. With those you can always workaround it (by using your own eyes ) but some of the coarse corrections I've seen on people's demos are terrible and, of course, permanent. Of course, I'm basing this purely on watching other people's footage rather than personal experience so thats a big disclaimer right there and I'm hoping someone who actually owns one can contradict it. There is a lot of curiosity about whether Fuji will do a firmware update for the X-T2 for internal F-Log and/or Eterna and I have to say if I was them I would steer clear of that for a good while as, for me at least and I'm sure a few others, if it has those then I can't see enough in the current IBIS performance to make me upgrade to the X-H1.

  6. Exactly the problem, he posted a date when he would be ready to share his hack. Why can't you and many others here just WAIT for that date to come? It is only 3 days from now at this point. Why do you feel the need to force someone to do something they are not prepared to do. He asked until the first, why not wait until the first and then start pestering him for proof. Now you are willing to pay money rather than just wait a few more days, he has not broken his original timeline or anything yet. If it is fake then the 1st will come and everyone will know it. If I am not mistaken he didn't even post this here, someone else found it elsewhere and released it here. You just want proof to put your own mind at ease, to protect yourself from whatever perceived harm that is could come to you. Hopefully he takes you up on your offer, the hack is legit, and maybe you will learn something from this.

  7. here is video that made my mind about x-h1 ibis: and a comparsion with a7r3 where's a difference pronounced even more: I have seen someone saying there's only 40mbit/s for 120fps. please can someone who already own x-h1 at hand confirm this? I wonder if this is a case for in-camera slowed down footage ( and then its kinda make a sense: 40 * (120/24) = 200)

  8. For £26K I think I'd go for the Hasselblad H6D-100C and get some medium format RAW 4K. I reckon it probably takes decent stills as well Now DJI own them, I do wonder how long it'll take to filter down to an Osmo !

  9. I'm guessing you're pretty young? Building up a network is CRITICAL in this industry if you ever hope to advance in it. The old saying, "It's not what you know, it's who you know" is a harsh reality. Film festivals are a very good way to acheive this. At first, your network is a couple people. But then you have to imagine those people know a couple people, etc. Suddenly your web of people has grown and is growing expodentially, so don't feel it's unachievable. If you're shy, and lack confidence that's okay. All you need to work on is building up enough courage to start with small steps. Your confidence will grow as you get better and better at it. It's best to intact confidence while you're young. By the time you hit full adulthood people will have fuller expectations of you. The truth is, as a naturally shy person that feeling never goes away. But how you mitigate it can blossom to the point no one would have ever guessed you are shy. I'm very introverted. I don't like large crowds, it feels exhausting to me. I adore my personal space and I like a small group of close friends and deep conversation rather than idle chit chat. But we live in a world that caters and rewards the extroverted. That's just the way it is. Although introversion is becoming more accepted within western society, it's still not tipping the scale much, unless you're the troubled-starving artist type like Tim Burton. To be succesful in my career, I had to learn to adapt to society's expectations and demands. That never changes who I am on the core level. It simply just refines me around the edges so that I can acheive success in a world that implores to exist on the surface. Even organizing a small film festival could also be a great confidence booster for you.

  11. Speaking of second hand C100's i ended up doing just that and picked up a minty C100+DPAF+Ninja Star last week. Whole kit cost me far less than a XH1/A73/GH5 and I'm still more impressed by the 1080p IQ of this old 2012 sensor than any of these recent MILCs. Not to mention NDs, pro audio & handling.. That being said i'm still looking for a hybrid replacement of the XT2 i got stolen last month and of course XH1 is high on the list.. We do have the A73 + Batis lenses at work. It's undeniably a powerfull & compact system that can produce some excellent IQ (hot pixels & bugs aside). But i feel zero emotional connection to the camera or the footage. it's just a tool. No excitement. Unlike shooting with the Fuji. I fully agree with most the pros/cons listed by @brianwahl especially that Fuji produces excellent usable SOOC results both in stills/video. However not sure i can agree when it comes to lenses & manual focus for video. Focus by wire sucks for video imo: it's steppy, innacurate and the fast f1.4 fuji primes do make a racket. I haven't tried the new linear mode but nothing beats mechanical with a nice throw imo. Sony also has the advantage of having so many adapters available & vast vintage full frame lenses to choose from. If i were to go back to Fuji i'd probably cop some Samyang cine glass to pair with it. The FF + S35 4K is imo the strongest advantage of the A73 vs the odd 1.7x crop of the XT2/XH1. And for stills FF > APS-C. But the analog ergonomics, colors & film simulations are still a strong selling factor and is what keeps me coming back to these quirky Fuji cams.

  13. Why don’t we try to do a “festival” here on eoshd? Someone suggest a theme and give everyone a week or whatever. We link our offerings, sit back and enjoy... we’d have to agree to do the beer/weed thing remotely. Big question - how many would participate? Liam - organise it!!!

Is this a joke or a con, possibly maybe even likely, but if I was this "kid" and I did have a hack my attitude now would be fuck these guys. He announced a date, it is fine and good to be skeptical but all you had to was just sit back and wait - all will be revealed on April first. It's like sitting by and watching a bunch of children waiting for Christmas to come impatiently obsessing over every possibilitity. At this piont I hope the hack is real and no one gets it.

  19. Yeah, the second one was one of the ones I saw where I thought "Have you actually got IBIS enabled on the A7iii ?" and looking at the comments, I wasn't the only one ! In the first video though, whilst it obviously canes the A7iii again, I can still see the same sort of coarse changes. If you look at between 2:07 and 2:10 just as an example, the water pipe does an abrupt move to the left from one frame to another. I've pulled three frames here and done a difference overlay to show how it is transitioning from the first two frames (where nothing much but the bush is moving) to the one where it has to do some work and makes the jump. In the brickwork, there is slewing as might be expected but also some scaling changes that all adds up to a bit of a mess that I think is what is making it so jarring. I'm not some mad pixel peeper as a rule but some of these transitions I'm seeing are very rough as are the less than subtle scaling changes even when its not being taxed too much. Its like a Scooby Doo transition at times though

  20. I don‘t have a way to meassure it, but I can directly compare it to the X-T2. I‘ll probably do it tomorrow and report back it records in 200Mbit/s. Depending on what recording frame rate as well as playbackframerate you choose, it reports back differently. 120fps shooting to 24fps (5 times slowmo) shows 40mbit/s (200/5) if you record 120fps to 60fps it will show 100mbit/s and so on

  21. If Canon does make a full frame hybrid camera, I hope it uses an EF-M mount -- unlike the EF mount on the C700 FF. The FF camera could utilize an EF-M-to-EF adapter with a shape and reinforcements that follow the contour of the camera body. By designing the adapter in this way, clueless EF lens users would never realize that they were actually mounting their lenses to an adapter. This configuration would not only allow fully functional use of EF lenses, but one would also be able to mount a zillion other lenses, focal reducers, tilt-shift adapters, etc. By the way, the EF-M mount should work with a full frame sensor, as the EF-M throat diameter is 47mm while the required image circle for full frame is 43.3mm.

  22. that's exactly what i'm afraid of: Canon doing something stupid.. at least from us consumer pov.. canon's strong segmentation & cinema line protection seem too strong for them to all sudden give out everything on a MILC (FF, native EF mount, Dual pixel, manageable 4K, IBIS etc..) which is what they'd need to do to make videographers switch imo.. of course i'm hoping i'm wrong and that sony's success in doing both MILC & cine cams with some overlap will enlighten them to do the same. i'll believe it when i see it though..

  25. @jonpais i think you are confusing Eterna with F-Log. Eterna, like all the other sims can be delivered SOOC and is actually meant to reduce work in post: The FUJIFILM X-H1 features the "ETERNA" mode, a new Film Simulation mode suitable for video recording, simulating the output of cinematographic films. Characterized by subdued color presentations and rich shadow tones, this mode can be used at 400% Dynamic Range (equivalent to approximately 12 stops) to attain video recording with a high degree of perfection while substantially reducing color-grading workload in post processing. my experience with it is that it indeed requires very little tweaking but since it's pretty flat does allow flexibility -should one need it- other sims tend to crush the blacks too much. @BTM_Pix My short experience with the X-H1 IBIS was that it was really solid when holding still or doing pans, walking is when you might notice some micro-adjustments but imo all IBIS systems somewhat fail when you start walking. it's what gimbals are made for. XH1 IBIS is still miles ahead of Sony FF imo.. I'm more concerned with the rolling shutter on XH1. it seemed to me worst than XT2 (borderling A6xxx). But maybe i'm wrong. Perhaps @frontfocus or someone could compare/measure it and report back to us on that.

  26. @brianwahl Great post, it should be tagged and stick in the top for everyone to see! In the end, everyone buys what fits him/her. If I compare my NX system to the Fuji, 18 out of 20 I prefer NX, but if you compare Fuji to Sony, then hands down Fuji is a more appealing proposition. The color science is not even close, and older Sony cameras had a lot of different issues. I also do not care for full frame, and Fuji ISO performance seems adequate for most things (and that stop extra performance, is the 1 out of the 2 things Fuji is better than my NX1s!). Congratulations for your business too. @Yurolov C100mkII all the way baby! The best, worst codec ever existed on this planet!
    1 point
  27. I have heard of it and I do know, that ISO has absolutely nothing to do with exposure. It's just gain. If you increase ISO for ETTR you are not exposing to the right, you are increasing gain to get brightness. Different things. And it's the other way round, what you loose in the highlight you can't get back, in the shadows you can get back a lot. That's just the way digital sensors work. Film was different and that's why many still talk about highlight roll off of film Actually I did. It took me a while to find a subject which shows moire, but when I found it I did compare the X-T2 and X-H1. I didn't use a tripod, which brought me to the conclusion, that moire is more noticeable with the X-H1, because handheld the image is moire stable and you notice it more. If you just compare sensor output, I'd guess the X-H1 has the exact same 3000px to 1920px downscale and with that the same amount of moire. just some quick cropped screencaps, but moire shows on both cameras and I'd say it's the same amount if you would do the exact same shot. X-T2: X-H1: edit: in this comparison the X-H1 seems to have less moire, but when looking through the footage, I have seen the exact same amount as the X-T2 produces.

  29. Haha true. I always have the same when I'm on 43rumors and Olympus drops prizes on GetOlympus.com or something again. It hurts missing out on solid deals. :P I did once pick up a good deal on the 25mm f/1.7 from B&H for 99 bucks tho. Shipping was surprisingly cheap (like 7 or 8 bucks) and even with considering import tax it would've been cheaper than it was just here (but it got re-labeled in Germany, so by the time it got to me, customs must've thought it came from within the EU and didn't charge me anything). They've also got some sick deals in Sweden every now and again. It's especially interesting to me how they can have prices so much lower than elsewhere, because when you visit you almost have to sell a kidney just to afford some dinner, so prices of electronics to them must feel like spare change. xD

Just want to say the LUTs are great. It's interesting how different GHa is from the GHaLogC-ARRIAlexaLogCRec709 pairing. Thoughts on a more neutral LUT with basically just the highlight rolloff (no longer having oversaturated and color shifted highlight transition is wonderful), or should I just use the Leeming LUT? One note for anyone else using Resolve on a non-cinema wide-gamut hardware-LUT display (not specific to this conversion at all, just in general for color grading): Accurate color absolutely requires the usage of a flat system ICC profile, a monitor-loaded LUT, and a 3D LUT in Resolve (3D Color Viewer LUT) as Resolve does not appear to be ICC aware in any way, shape, or form. This isn't particularly noticeable with SOOC footage, but Log footage run through a LUT (let alone complete color grading) is pretty painful otherwise.

  38. I actually would consider other options... as non of your picks make it to the usual suspects ND quality rankings (think: Breakthrough Photography, SLR Magic, Tiffen, Formatt-Hitech, B+W, Singh-ray, Heliopan, et cetera). Also. People could generally point out that you're better off with a set of fixed value NDs, rather than one vND. But you must have your reasons (like having store credit to spend and finding ease of use of having variable ND outweigh any possible downsides). This has always been a hot subject in the past, so for more: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=variable+nd+eoshd+site:www.eoshd.com&hl=en . Concerning the mentioned filters... I suppose it's doubtful you'll find much opinions on some of these.

  39. The chart shows the DR curve of the A7s in s-log. The native ISO of the A7s in s-log is 3200, so that explains the behavior there. I wish I had more hard data on hand, but anecdotally Panasonic have heavily marketed their dual native ISO tech in every camera they put it in. It is a big deal and a real selling point. Kinefinity has it and now so does RED, and they all market it heavily because it's a big deal. So, I doubt that Sony (or any company) would just stick this feature in there and not shout it from the rooftops. This is interesting and does seem to fit into the real definition of dual native ISO.

  40. That is well shot film. I like how you just shot idling engines for longer time. I am a gearhead and I'd just listen and listen and you need to drag me away from a race track. I'd like to record some of the racing action this summer, but not sure what microphone would be good. I'm new to filmmaking, bought a Rode Videomic Pro Stereo, but no idea if it's up for the job.

  41. Thanks! I must have missed that comment, but for most people, I'd think 'image' (whatever that means - it's different to different people) is the main factor in choosing a camera. Personally I've used workflows where I shot log almost all the time (Blackmagic at first, and then Sony), but I grew to hate that workflow, and in the work I did, I rarely saw it make a difference. I'd prefer an image straight from the camera that looks close to what my final delivery will be. I will say this, though - Blackmagic's log (they call it 'film') is so much easier to work with than S-log, but in my case that comes down to me not knowing how to work with S-log very well. But different people have different needs/wants from a camera system, so they should pick the system that suits their needs the best.

Not sure what they do, I never visit that sinkhole. xD _ But on the topic of lenses... the new Huawei (Leica partnership) P20 Pro has 4 of 'em (rear 3 cam combines to a Vario-Summilux-H1 27-80mm f/1.6-2.4 ASPH.), sensor size = 1/1.78" which is quite huge for a smartphone (that's not a CM1 or something). https://consumer.huawei.com/en/phones/p20-pro/ Official launch was earlier this afternoon. Incredible piece of kit if you ask me. It leaps ahead of the first closest thing from Samsung with a whopping 10 extra DxOMark points: https://www.dxomark.com/huawei-p20-pro-camera-review-innovative-technologies-outstanding-results/ ... who conclude that it's a game changer. Curious to find out what it's like for video. It does do 960fps slowmo (720p) and AIS (they find EIS/OIS doesn't quite work, but when you use AI, you can get much better results) and AF seems impressive. Guess we'll find out!

  45. I film and edit a weekly 'docutainment' (I hate that word) show for TV broadcast that needs to finished every week on a Tuesday afternoon. It's then checked for any technical faults and sent on to broadcasters who - I assume - have an automated system to get it into their schedule and it hits the airwaves 2 days later for the end audience to enjoy. Since it's a very tight schedule with a hard deadline that simple can't be missed, I 'publish' every single Tuesday just before lunch. On top of that, I also live in a different country to my family and have 2 small kids, so I also make short videos of them learning and doing things to upload and share with family. I try to do at least two a month, but that's self imposed and don't put too much stress on it. Then I also have a few personal projects that are closer to work than the family videos, mini docs and animations about random subjects that take my interest at the time. Those take a lot longer to finish, and publish as they're more time consuming than the family videos, and it's hard to find the time to do them. I treat them more as teaching myself a new skill or testing equipment and don't put any pressure on myself to finish them by a certain time.

  47. Cameras do matter. Deakins fought for the alexa on hail ceasar and the cohens insisted kodak film. Have you seen hail caesar? It looks amazing. The camera is as important as the lighting lenses color etc. A lot of top dps say the camera doesnt matter but of course it does or they would not be risking it all to shoot on film when digital is so much safer for a production. How it renders motion and sharpness and smoothness. The camera is really important. Everything is important. And yes deakins could say he would shoot on an iphone because that's baller to say. But how many top DPs have "slummed" it on shoots with less-than-good cameras for major feature work? Pretty much no one except Rodrigo Prieto who likes the Sony F55 for night exteriors. Pretty much every other DP I can think of only shoots Alexa or Red.

    NX1 RAW VIDEO???

Well, was it you or me that has been speaking with him privately? You have comphresion skills, I'm sure of it. I tried to be a conduit and temper the situation. He asked for my help and support and that's exactly what I agreed to do and intend to do going forward, despite this becoming a trick or not. My lack of fear of being fooled puts me in a unique position. I've also been ridiculed and mocked during this fun exhibition. But I'm 44, been around the block a few hundred times and back. I made it too easy for you guys. I gave you my clear and honest assestment of the general mood that was happening on the other side as it became apparent. Some of you debated, postured, professed, demanded and gave altimatuim. Not wise. Not strategic. Now you get to pay up. Every brilliant mind we recgonize today has gone through the same old shit before people admired their work. It starts off as healthy skeptism. It then moves into impatience, then baiting, then insults and ridicule or defamation of character, and then finally eating their own shit sandwich. Look at the Sistine Chapel. Years behind schedule. Still deeply revered today. As far as the New Yorker's statement. It's my observation. Even New Yorker's will tell you that their "in-your-face" communication style is unique to the geography, and they seem pretty smitten with it too. I'm not revealing any secrets here. BTW, I have six close friends from NYC and one from Jersey and family from Detroit. The tech companies in the greater Seattle area draw people here from all walks of life. I've noticed New Yorker's (from NYC) don't fair well over here if they're not willing to adapt to a more sutble west coast communication style. Turns out the people here don't appreciate being cat called by a derogatory nickname followed by a demand in the workplace. This is one of the more liberal places I have ever lived in. In fact we've had legalized recreational weed for some years now, first to enact $15/hr minimum wage, and we just passed statewide protections for net neutrality. We largely swing Bernie and we're telling ICE to back off. Studies show when one state entacts brave progressive policies the other states soon follow. You're welcome America. ? You can question this RAW hack, Arikhan's and my own integrity, but do not question my liberalism. ? Thanks for your vast contributions. So far all signs lead to "likely".
