  1. No offense but this is very basic Amazon shopping "skill". Avoid any other vendor other than ships and sold by Amazon. (Unless it's a company selling it's own goods on Amazon.) What is the point of this post? You got burned because you bought from a crappy source and now blaming Amazon... Same thing can happen at eBay or Alieexpress or wherever you are deal hunting... You might want to boycott Amazon for other reasons (warehouse working conditions) but this is just silly.

  2. A decent toy, this Osmo Pocket - a YouTube example (1080, 60fps).

  3. For the longest we have been debating the quality difference between smartphones and Point and Shoots and DSLRs/ ILCs (based on computational photography to compensate for the smaller sensor and thus poorer dynamic range and low light, apart from detail and sharpness). It's stupid to compare the quality of photos from Pixel 3 and 24MP ILCs simply for the reason that those have very different pixel counts. But for the Same Pixel count, the difference the Pixel and MUCH larger camera sensors is practically inexistent. Here I compared the GH5s, the A7Sii, the Pixel 3 and the Pentax Q. The Pixel 3 did surprisingly well (I am guessing these are solely JPEGs), and the Pentax Q was rather terrible. So the whole soft plastic lenses of Smartphones doesn't seem to hold water. https://***URL removed***/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr18=daylight&attr13_0=sony_a7sii&attr13_1=pentax_q7&attr13_2=google_pixel3&attr13_3=panasonic_dcgh5s&attr15_0=jpeg&attr15_1=jpeg&attr15_2=jpeg&attr15_3=jpeg&attr16_0=100&attr16_1=100&attr16_2=55&attr16_3=160&attr126_2=2&normalization=full&widget=1&x=0.893640338567055&y=0.777062638323769 Now, Sony has another sensor in the offing which will probably make it to Smartphones in early 2019. The sensor is 38MP (1/1.8") and has Triple Native ISOs of 50, 50 and 5000. It is also created for use with Dual Sensor or multi sensor setups. It seems to have some new Dual Bayer pixel setup which I am guessing will cause a mild resolution loss, removing the need for down sampling for improving low light. It also has 8-bit, 10-bit and 12-bit RAW options for video (and 24fps 10-Bit HDR for photo). The Huawei P20 and Mate 20Pro are already photography beasts (I prefer the Mate 20's low light to the Pixel 3). With improved low light and higher resolution than 10MP, this new sensor does seem to be taking the fight to the high end Point and Shoots' court. The video on the new iPhones also seem to be in (non 10-bit) DSLR territory, so if a smartphone can process better HDR and use the 10-bit in video, it could finally be a year when we seem to have finally bridged the gap. @androidlad could probably help us with the complete sensor details. https://m.gsmarena.com/sonys_38mp_imx607_sensor_specs_leak_could_end_up_in_the_huawei_p30_pro-news-34667.php

  4. This is a warning that many of you may already heed. My experience: In the past I've learned to be wary of Amazon vendors. Some will sell international versions of cameras that are not supported in the US, for example. Last summer my wife and I purchased two Samsung Gear Fit2 watches. Mine stopped working the first weekend in November. I sent it in. Samsung responded today that they cannot fix the watch because it is an international model and will need to be shipped to Italy for repair. This week I thought of purchasing a second X-T3 from Amazon rather than from B and H. I'm glad I didn't make that mistake.

    DJI Ronin S

Moza Air 2 just arrived. I really like the screen and being able to set options on the gimbal, very convenient. I also like how fast it is to adjust speed and turn motors on and off. I much prefer the flexibility of this compared to the traditional style. The grip is more comfy for me than Ronin-S but you can't detach it so it's more annoying for storage. Right off the bat I had to offset the roll axis though. Ronin-S feels a bit more solid, and I can wrap the Ronin-S grip, but for Moza Air 2 you can't do this since the battery compartment opens there. Ronin-S also much more stable for vehicle use (best gimbal I've used so far for vehicles). Moza is better than the older Zhiyuns (less tilt when moving) but it's still there and far behind Ronin. Most people won't notice especially if they are just walking around, but once you get on something motorized it becomes more apparent. My Ronin-S has been fine, I just don't like how annoying it is to change settings and speeds. I've done 2x 6hr events with Ronin-S and yeah it's pretty heavy but still manageable. I rest by either setting it down or lodging it in a one of those hip mount thingies (the tripod legs go into a belt mounted pocket, takes most of the weight, useful for static shots or for resting). In terms of stability I have to say the Ronin-S has been very good in terms of keeping horizons level and pointed where you want it (of course could be better, but way better than anything else I've used), much better than older Zhiyun and this Moza unit. I honestly thought the Moza would be much closer in performance due to how similar they look but this is not the case at all. If only they had made changing settings more convenient! Alas. Maybe next time. Anyways, need more testing before more comments!

  7. (DISCLAIMER: THIS IS MY PRODUCT) Hi! I've been following EOSHD since I bought my first 550D a long time ago. I wanted to share this project with you guys. We (me, my brother and father) just launched our brand new line of high end camera straps, and would love for you guys to take a look at it. Our first model are two corduroy straps. "Breeze" and "Classic". We’ll soon add premium Italian leather straps and after that an even more premium material. It's been a year of developing and refining, but we've finally launched! Features Quick release system (perfect for hybrid shooters, especially gimbal use) Handmade by skilled artisans Fits virtually any camera Length adjustable (85cm - 130cm / 33" - 51") Premium materials Extra Fine Corduroy Soft Sueded Italian Leather Top Grain Italian Leather Dynemaa (15x stronger than steel) Strength-tested to handle 200kg Designed in Norway The story It started when I inherited an old film camera from 1954 from my grandfather from Northern Norway. I was amazed with the unique camera strap it had. He crafted it himself during sparce times. After 60 years, it still looked and felt amazing. It had aged like a bottle of good wine. I started using the camera strap on my own professional camera during my travels. From Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, to week-long expeditions in freezing arctic weather. With inspiration from my 92 year old grandfather’s craftmanship, we kept the fundamentals of the retro design and improved on crucial parts and materials. The result is a camera strap with modern features in a timeless design. Would appreciate it if some of you checked it out at www.jl-gear.com Happy to answer any questions!

  9. For the GH5s the dual native ISO values are 400 and 2500. Technically you underexposed ISO400 by 1,66 stops. In pitch black. What do you expect? ISO1600 is clean, because it's overexposed ISO2500. Oh, try HFR 240 fps with VLOG-L and ISO1250. And dont forget to tell me which trashcan will you use to dump the camera ?

  10. Some guy on YouTube was upscaling 1080p with reasonable success. I know that one of the Bond films (Skyfall?) had 2.7k Alexa footage upscaled to to 4k rather successfully. If the dynamic range, artefacts and noise are within control, I don't think it should be an issue.

  11. Used it on a wedding job recently, got some nice shot that wasn’t possible on my normal gimbal combo.. ( some people react differently when there is camera around, but not Osmo Pocket!) Good thing I sold Osmo X5 ages ago, this is so much more fun to use and much quieter!

  12. Huawei has been putting out impressive smartphones this year, but it seems that their Kirin 980 still lags behind the SD 855 in some key areas - SD can do 40K60p and can also produce bokeh effects for video and will probably do HDR video as well. Samsung is sticking to their lowest possible mpx count sensors, which I think is a smart idea, since you lighten the load for the CPU and the pixels can be as big as possible. However, Mate 20 PRO sensors seem like a very good bunch, but the Kirin CPU limits them to 4K30p, they started pushing a non-standard nanoSD card and they've also succumbed to the ridicules curved display hype (adding unnecessary fragility to a very expensive phone). This 38mpx sensor looks very good since it is also bigger than what Samsung has been using. Shame on Google though, for creating their Pixel phones that have such a limited availability and then keeping their impressive camera software exclusive to that small bunch of phones - what a close-minded strategy (it should be a OS-wide feature).

  13. I think that’s because when you use it with your phone, it also acts as a charger of sorts, since your attaching it to the charging port. So I guess using it with your phone takes more power from the battery than using it stand alone.

  14. Sounds like a video vs data levels issue? You can specify whether cmimported clips in resolve use data or video levels, and you can also specify which your export uses. You can also specify which to use in VLC. Neither one is universally correct, just check how it looks on whatever platform you distribute on.

  15. It might be interesting to do a Resolve stress test to see if it can handle big projects. Maybe someone who finishes a big project can pull it into Resolve and render it out and give their impressions? I'd do one but I don't have a real project that's big enough to be a genuine test.

  17. What until now I don't understand, not judging you in particular, but there are quite a lot of low light test, I guess by nw we know that we can use 6400 ISO and go to 12800 or even 25600 ISO. But no one was able to do a test with what is the real innovation of this camera and it is 10 bit log profile. That is the first test I will do with this camera when I get it start of next year, put it at 800 ISO, log, 10 bit and shoot some people and landscape. Just to know what is the ultimate quality of this camera.

  19. After a couple years on other software I decided to give PS and LR a go the other day and signed up for a subscription. I moved from the UK to the Netherlands and it took Adobe support about two hours to change my account. It was very much like the thread above. A trip to hell. Made me immediately regret getting back on Adobe.

  21. Nice lens & pretty rare, so well done for buying it. A few tips about infinity & some vintage lenses (especially the Helios) - I've found that sometimes the taking lenses infinity mark is slightly off & you might need to dial it back a little (mm if anything). Test the taking lens, get the infinity set properly & tape it down so it doesn't move or remember the mark - this should sort your infinity problem out with some vintage lenses, it's certainly the case with most of my Russain lenses. The Meyer 100m is a really nice lens, one of my favourites for colour/contrast, not always the sharpest but I don't care about that nonsense. I've found that the Nikon Ai-s 50mm F1.8 pancake lens is a really good one for anamorphics - really cheap too! Another one to think about is the Super-Takumar 55mm F1.8 - small & sharp (don't get the SMC one, the Super-Tak version is single coated so will be good for flares etc.). The normal rule of thumb for taking lenses for these anamorphic attachments is to find one with a simple lens recipe - the Helios 44-2 is normally a winner with most of these attachments, but if it's not working for you then you'll need to experiment. One thing to take account of, if this is really a Baby Iscorama rebranded etc. (as is claimed in this thread), then wide open they are dreamy soft.

  22. Same here, one week worth of editing, and the fucker wouldn't start rendering it out. In the end mpeg and xml was the only thing what I could still save it in ---> could recover of what i had in resolve. It's just too much stress

  23. I remember thinking to myself a short while ago, “The current camera so damn good, Do we really need anything better? “ It seems many in Hollywood are taking note. I recently read a article which can be found here in which they state that the new movie “The Haunting of Hannah Grace” was shot entirely on the Sony A7S2. Granted, they rigged it up pretty good. But at the heart of that rigging was a Sony A7S2. So the day has come... hell has indeed frozen over. A humble prosumer camera can be used to shoot a Hollywood feature. Now if anamorphic lenses would follow suit, we would really be in business.

  25. Yes, the future of camera is not really about pure image quality. Now it is about new technologies like AF, automatic variable ND filter, low light performance etc. With these technologies we will be able to work with minimal rigs and the camera system will be much smaller and lighter. Shooting movies will be faster, easier and cheaper.

  26. Yeah im skipping kinefinity as well. Blackmagic will probably release a full frame camera at some point too, which will beat this price no doubt, and will have much better support. (I just hope they will have a upgrade platform from the ursa mini pro to full frame, just fingers crossed that they thought about this when developing the ursa mini pro, like RED did)

  27. It's done! Really happy with it especially when compared to the Sankor 16-S I had a couple years ago. It's pretty heavy but not too bad. The RAFCamera clamps are absolutely perfect and excellent quality. The posted shot was literally me running out into the alley and snapping a shot on auto. Thanks for everyone's help on this!
