@User, it appears that you need a lens support -- but not a big one.3 points

I have used my P6K (along with my P4Ks) for many hours on three or four shoots per week since I purchased it on release day. I have not had the camera randomly turn off or stop recording, not even a single time. I have a Sony NP970 battery plate on the cage and I use the 1TB T5 drives. I am not using original Canon batteries. I will sometimes also use V-mount batteries. I also generally don't fill up the entire drive, so I may be unintentionally keeping the drives below 50%. In my usage, the P6K has been just as reliable as my 3 P4Ks.3 points

GH6 MONSTER Sensor Rumour by Adroidlad
Cinegain and 2 others reacted to Video Hummus for a topic
Well, it’ll cost you more than $1799 to pickup a S1H and an L mount lens. I have the 10-25 f1.7. It’s a brilliant lens. It will be even more brilliant on a future GH6. If the GH6 has as good lowlight ability as the GH5S then it’s going to be a huge hit as long as it carries on the GH5 tradition. I shot some video of some Elk a couple of days ago. It was dusk, approaching blue hour. I had my 50-200 f2.8-4. I was shooting at 200mm f4 at ISO 10000 and 12800 in 10bit HLG. The noise performance was more than acceptable. I lost a bit of color vitality but it was dusk so it really didn’t matter. The 4K footage downsampled to 1080p didn’t need any noise reduction at all. If I was to keep it at 4K I would have applied noise reduction to some of the clips at 12800. The images were more than useable. I switched out to the 10-25 for some environment shots at at f1.7 I could drop my ISO to 2500-3200 which is a piece of cake for the GH5S.3 points -

Jinni.Tech vs. RED Part 4 (1hr long)
Xavier Plagaro Mussard and one other reacted to Sun Daze for a topic
I think part of the appeal of red is buying into the myth of Red. And part of that Myth is that the CEO, Jim Jannard, is the Elon Musk of the camera world. A genius badass disruptor. When that myth gets lifted, with jinnimag videos, consumers, especially those who own thousands of dollars of gear, those who bought into the myth of red get upset. Especially in the past three years, when 4k is now the norm, and Red no longer has higher resolution as a selling point, and when cheaper cameras like the blackmagic ursa mini pro and c300 ii and fs7 can get people to an image they want for a lot cheaper. When Hollywood now primarily uses the Alexa over the red. It's almost a mythical choice. But yea, now as we find out how much of a liar and Barnum-like con man Jim is, more stuff like below will be discovered. When he was the CEO at Oakley, he was involved in the Lance Armstrong doping scandal. He most likely was a bully who "encouraged" his employee to lie under oath. Maybe not what people expect in a leader. The type of person who could point blank lie to several companies about the origin of his camera components and would have no problem manipulating his users. More of this will come out. And at what point will the myth of red vanish, and will cameras go back to just being cameras. Tools used to do a job or create art? Where camera comparison tests from CML have more effect on a buyer than the feeling one gets from holding a camera or if it feels like a status symbol? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-02/sponsor-turned-blind-eye-to-lance-armstrongs-doping/55640742 points -

If this happens it's more likely to be the SSD than the P6K.. the data volumes we're talking about with this (and the P4K when it was released) are incredible and past the limits of all but the best of current technology. It's also likely to be content-specific as (I would imagine) that Braw and Prores will compress the video stream more if there is less movement. It would be interesting to see a torture test between a SSD and a CFast card, as one of the reasons CFast cards are so expensive is their blistering performance spec.1 point

Slightly off topic, but I think Steven Soderbergh is trying to make the RED look like his iPhone ?1 point

GH6 MONSTER Sensor Rumour by Adroidlad
Thpriest reacted to newfoundmass for a topic
I don't know that the GH6 will have the low light capabilities of the GH5s, but I suspect it'll have improved low light performance like we've seen with each new GH camera. I'm guessing the low light M43 camera will be the GH6s, when that gets released. I really, really hate the segmentation game everyone is playing.1 point -
Can the Sony FS7 pair with the Ninja V (non-RAW)?
Mmmbeats reacted to barefoot_dp for a topic
There's no 5" monitor that can record 10bit from the FS5. The FS5 only does 10bit via Raw/SDI; HDMI is limited to 8 bit. We can all cross our fingers for the new BM Video Assist though - they do not support Sony Raw upon release but have said they want to expand compatibility, whatever that means.1 point -

I think for 10 bit on both the fs5 and fs7 you have to go through SDI1 point -
The FS5 can only output 8bit 4:2:2. Don't know about the FS7.1 point

That's 100% coming from IBIS working on an ultra wide angle shot. Same happens on the GH5 with a 7mm lens. Once you go to like a 24mm FF equivalent it's fully gone.1 point -
In 2040? It will slow down eventually the resolution wars. Just like with audio capture.1 point

We keep reaching theoretical thresholds and keep finding ways around them, so I'm not worried, Moores Law is safe. And in terms of hard drives not shrinking that's a form factor question. Otherwise we wouldn't have SSD drives (smaller than a 2.5 inch HDD and things like 256GB micro SD cards are ridiculously tiny, so storage is absolutely shrinking. This has some interesting data... https://medium.com/predict/moores-law-is-alive-and-well-adc010ea7a631 point

Yeah. But sometimes (in my case dues to tax reasons and older gear not being used) the time has come! Previously I had waited for canon to produce a reasonable b cam for my C100 and it never came (the XC10 just failing due to lowlight). Switched to GH5 and have enjoyed the experience (other than file size and extreme lowlight). Need a new A cam for my GH51 point

heart0less reacted to Danyyyel for a topic
You are on a gear head/ Nerd forum, what did you expect. The only things working here is the latest 6k, raw or whatever camera. Talk art, cinematography etc and you get 3 response at best. I never ever saw one person complain about 2k on the big screen, they will complain about the story, acting, special effect eventually, but never ever if the movie was in 2k.1 point -
Elmo II is top notch. Elmo built some very advanced projectors and good cameras. They were and are still used by pros. Tito just had a poor example for his test. For the looke I like Moeller even more but sadly the rear is smaller. Moeller is king! Had them all and sold them. I am an idiot...1 point

This is a really interesting comment especially amongst a Group of people that really actually respect intellectual property rights (my background is more 'property is theft'). But surely the whole point of Colonel Saunders (KFC) is that his 'recipe' is a big 'secret' because you cant patent a 'recipe'. What you need for a patent is an 'individual ingredient' and while redescribing a bayer array might sound like one it clearly isnt...1 point -

You just have to look through the topic's history. Start by page 1 if you will, lots of wisdom being exchanged (mostly due to Andy Lee). More discussion, actual in-depth lens tests, comparisons, recommendations, news... not just unsolicited dumps of random pics and framegrabs. If it comes up in discussion, sure, show and tell. But this topic is slowly turning into Flickr. I like Zach just fine, but maybe if you feel like sharing some of your work in the form of stills and grabs, we should have a topic just for that?1 point

To be honest it's not even average. You have to study a lot and most important see great videos and search the way they did those. Catching a camera that is capable of decent to great image doesn't mean you are capable too. Don't give up and keep going.-2 points
