Ronin SC monitor mounting
EthanAlexander and one other reacted to Martin Matěj for a topic
Before I used Smallhd focus 5 monitor on Ronin S which was mounted on magic arm and was holding on a clamp at the bottom front of the Ronin handle: https://ebay.to/2OYO9Dx Now I use Smallhd focus 7 monitor with this mounting to Ronin S: https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-universal-wooden-side-handle-for-ronins-zhiyun-crane-series-handheld-gimbal-2222.html with https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-magic-arm-with-double-ballheads-arri-locating-pins-and-1-4-screw-2115.html And I think it's the best combo, the monitor feels so secure and you can change the position so easily. You could also mount some other things to the side handle. The possition of the monitor is better on the last picture because the HDMI cable is not in the way. You can do the same with Smallhd focus 5 inch.2 points -

Neat Video (and some practice with Neat Video settings, it's got a lot of settings). But it might also smooth out/get rid of macro blocking so then you need to export it again at a low bitrate.1 point -
i actually meant to throw my question open to the whole forum, it was kinda late when i wrote that, i didn't mean to direct that at you specifically, sorry about that ? I also am looking at a new computer, my desktop died several months ago. For now i get by with dell i5 laptop, it runs resolve ok.... albeit slowly perhaps, i could probably throw some more ram at it one day. but i keep buying camera bits and pieces. ?1 point

Also samsung t5 ssd 2 terabyte is only 299 usd. And after you get home with the footage you can use slimraw to compress the dngs. https://www.slimraw.com/ You can use the ssd directly as the source and compress while you copy to another drive.1 point -

Full frame 4K raw for $1800 in small stills camera. Unique. What other cameras do that?! It's like an official Magic Lantern with bullet proof reliability. Very happy about the price, it's Sigma being typically competitive there.1 point -
The iPhone has seriously exaggerated colours and which are quite off, as well. I don't even consider their photos acceptable. Other low light cameras don't have this problem. The portrait mode is fine by smartphone standards. The problem is when you see the photos on a larger screen (larger than a smartphone size), the quality suddenly looks rubbish and the colours seem very disappointing. The same applies for video. Everything looks like 480p or worse.1 point

He did another video blind-testing is you could tell which camera was which and I worked out about half-way to look at the sharpening as that's what gave it away, but yeah, a couple of the shots weren't too bad. Then again, I'm shooting a GH5 with a F0.95 lens because of the low-light I regularly shoot in, and I'm upgrading my 8mm F4 to a 7.5mm F2 for better low-light for the same reason, so I'm hardly going to be an average user in that department. Gotta get those wide-angle blue hour shots... Or after the sun has completely gone....1 point

I love my Voigtlander 17.5mm and am thinking about buying more, but at the end of the day it's about what your priorities are. If the zoom will help you get more shots, or capture the same moment in a better way (for example if you're not having to work around the fixed focal length) then maybe it's worth it for you to go to the PL zoom. Will the slower 1.7 aperture give you the DoF you are looking for? I personally like to shoot with primes over my 18-35 as I find the 18-35 too heavy as I hand-hold. I don't mind the total lens weight as the other lenses are in my bag and not hurting my wrists, but you are likely on sticks so don't have these issues. I'd suggest that the best way to answer is to get clear on your priorities and then see how the options stack up in light of what you're trying to achieve and how you're working. Ultimately though, if you're able to capture a better shot then that is very likely to completely eclipse the small loss of IQ you get by changing lenses. An average quality copy of a great subject is better than a high IQ copy of a boring final film!1 point

I have the 10-25. I've only had it a week now and i haven't had the chance to look at the results on 2 jobs I used it on but I really liked the feel of it. I got it to replace the Sigma 18-35 as it's native and lighter. I have kept my Voigtlanders as I feel they are complementary lenses, great for real low light, bokeh and a different look.1 point

I appreciated your warning this weekend. I tested it out and didn't lose any clips, so I used it on my weekend shoot. Definitely didn't lose footage, but it didn't keep my X-T3 powered for the whole shoot so I had to switch to my handheld rig with a v-mount battery. I do have an Anker power bank I've used with it before. Seems kind of clunky to gaff it to the gimbal though.1 point

Yeah, but the audio from the vx and soft desaturated highlights still compete with what is available now. It's just such a good all in one package. I also think that skateboarding undeniably looks better in 4:3. Agreed. All of the hip ad agencies are all shooting 16 and 35. The amount of labs and the price and demand for cameras really reflects this as well. A bit of nostalgia and I think the resolution battle has slowed down, as the search for better looking texture and color increases.1 point -

Yeah, it's easy to get lost in the bottomless pit that's the interw3bz. Sometimes it's nice and refreshing to clear your mind and get off the grid! Not checking your phone constantly, not reading up on the latest and greatest. Just... being. Getting a fresh perspective on the world. Get some purity back. Have fun out there, catch you later!1 point
