4K DSLR with no jittery / stutter video ? (Canon vs Fuji vs Sony)
tellure and one other reacted to KnightsFan for a topic
That is exactly the point of this thread. We aren't sure what the stuttering that you are seeing is, and therefore can't tell you which cameras (if any) don't have it. "the motion was weird / stuttering" doesn't explain to me what the problem is. If it's rolling shutter you are seeing, then the XT3 is the best APS-C option outside cine cams--or possibly a FF camera using the APS-C crop. If you are seeing stutter from bad playback, then the XT-3 is likely the worst option. If you're just seeing added sharpness over the mushy Canon, then simply use any camera, apply a generous blur, transcode to a lower bitrate and you're good to go lol.2 points -
Large Format Cameras Are Changing Film Language, From ‘Joker’ to ‘Midsommar’
heart0less and one other reacted to fuzzynormal for a topic
To be fair, my wife pointed out how my claim of 95% of our shots is an exaggeration. She says more like 80%. But, yeah, the f.095 doesn't create incredibly odd shallow DOF depending how you shoot. It's more of a style. If the subject is a few meters away from you vs. if they're close to the lens...that's the main thing that makes a difference to my eye. After we got our doc in the can we put together a quick teaser for the film. This teaser video actually features the .095 shots more prominently. If you're looking for it, I think you can see it. But otherwise, it sits pretty easy in the edit visually with a mix of other lenses and f-stops. Ultimately I find the Voights to be perfect M43 lenses as, aside from DOF, they'll allow for some good low light video capture when you need it. They're not tack sharp wide open, but sharp enough. Again, it's a look. I tend to like it and prefer shooting manual lenses, so I'll probably keep using these lenses for awhile. BTW, I've mentioned this before on EOSHD, but I also have decided to shoot most of my stuff NOT at the 180 rule. If I'm shooting 24p, then I run the shutter @25. 30p=30ss, etc. That's adramatic motion blur effect, and it'll really take the edge off the "video" look. It's not for everyone, but there ya go.2 points -

Recent high-profile criticism levelled at Leica, is that they’re becoming a 'software company' rehousing hardware from China and Japan. Although the Leica SL2 (“Made in Germany!”) uses virtually all of the internal hardware as the Panasonic S1R – sensor, EVF, stabilisation, along I suspect with most of the mainboard too and firmware programmed by Panasonic (with menus designed by Leica), I do feel it brings something very important to the artist’s table beyond numbers. What Wireless Lavalier Microphone System?
greenscreen reacted to Emanuel for a topic
Coming from here and there: Here's a focusing copycat comparative field test by the rather interesting Tom Antos' review: Dual Lav mics system advantage over other solutions out there such as these ones, David @IronFilm? In any case heavier than these two, isn't it? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1472750-REG/azden_pro_xr_2_4ghz_digital_wireless_microphone.html/specs https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1072850-REG/senal_aws_2000_a_advanced_wireless_microphone.html Any other shortcomings as nonlocking connectors for the Azden or lack of dual lav mics offer for both of them I guess? Any other lighter ones to compare with?1 point -

Gotta find something (anything) first. It has a built in ND filter which will help too. Four wheels on a point and shoot! If this camera had an APSC sensor and hd video at least it would now be my daily driver.1 point

4K DSLR with no jittery / stutter video ? (Canon vs Fuji vs Sony)
Dustin Jenkins reacted to thebrothersthre3 for a topic
I really have never got the motion cadence thing so I would be interested to see a comparison just out of curiosity. Not that you have the time but would be cool to see. Also would be interested to know if it is more to your liking shoot 24p at 30-40 shutter. Another fellow on here just posted how he shoots 1/40 1/30 shutter a lot on his GH5 which gives it a more film look, in his eyes at least.1 point -

Canon EOS R first impressions - INSANE split personality camera
tomastancredi reacted to thebrothersthre3 for a topic
Image holds more detail with higher color depth. Less prone to banding and you can push the image more in post. The advantage Canon has in terms of skin tones is better auto WB imo. Fuji auto white balance isn't very good, best to stick to manual. If you record externally on the Canon and get the 10 bit 4k its really nice, but its 1.7 crop and has terrible rolling shutter.1 point -

Interesting enough indeed : ) However, I find their 2MP lens for macro stills (not exactly video!) pretty useless, rather disappointing resolution-wise... Let alone if compared with OnePlus 7T Super Macro mode, here's a 3456 x 4608 sample from regular 12MP (as written here "the new super macro mode uses the wide-angle camera together with a new motor to bring super-close focus to the 7T") :1 point

I don’t think any of my posts are clever enough to be misread for intelligence, artificial or otherwise.1 point -
OK, here is what they're up to. I thought it was weird that the plausible posts didn't have any links in them and initially thought that we had managed to attract the most incompetent spammers on the internet (aside from the Conservative party's latest efforts obviously). What they do is get a second spammer (or themselves) to quote the first post and tag the link for whatever shite it is they're pushing on to the end of the quote. At first it looks like its a legitimate reply but the posts will have positive replies such as "Issue got solved" or "Agreed!" because it entices someone to click the link to find out what the solution was etc. which is what their game is. Here are two recent examples from the "Century Optics" and "50mm" thread. The posts quoted did not have the links in originally. They are obviously wise to the fact that the first posts will get moderated so anything with a dodgy link in will be deleted so thats why they don't put it in that but use the reply system to insert them. I would guess that there are a lot of "clean" accounts set up to do the first post and then they'll just use multiple other accounts to add the links in to replies. This makes it look like the one replying is the spammer when in actual fact they both are. Can I make a request to not ban the one who posts the pieces about chains though as I find it offers a good perspective for when my own life is at its most tedious and dull to think "yeah but at least I don't have to write about chains. Or worse still, be so far down the spamming ladder that I get given that as source material in bot farm when all my other bot mates are out there preaching about penis enlargement"1 point

thanks @mercer coming from you, thats high praise indeed ? honestly i think it must be beginners luck I watched one dudes youtube on how he grades, he's called the loam ranger. He does mountain bike riding and uses a gopro, he likes to shoot flat as possible. I just copied what he does with his footage and applied it to mine. Even then i forgot to adjust the sharpness and i dont think i changed the contrast, just moved the colour wheels and upped the saturation a little. I have to confess i like late afternoon a lot, the sun has less bite but has more oomph i think, and its a tad easier to see the screen. Plus the wind has usually died down abit. Now that i have dipped my toes into the shark infested waters, there probably will be a whole slew of videos pop up ?1 point

Seeking Info About the Bausch & Lomb Projection Lens
Jim Chang reacted to Caleb Genheimer for a topic
I haven’t, but I’m sure there are still funny rare variants floating around. I’ve been stalking eBay for almost a decade now, and I still occasionally see scopes that surprise me. Theres actually a BIG brother to this scope (CinemaScope Attachment I and CinemaScope Attachment II), and I’ve combined front/rear from each with excellent results. Though the squeeze is reduced to only 1.33X, the angle of view compatibility is massive. The only downsides are fixed (infinity) focus, no variable diopter large enough to cover so wide, and (obviously) weight. Other rear elements I’ve got can make it around a 1.5X squeeze which is more useful for most of my applications. Maximum compatible focal length of the anamorphic front block is inversely related to the squeeze factor resultant from various rear block pairings... this results in a constant maximum horizontal angle of view, regardless of the squeeze factor. The 1.33X combo may work with a 17mm, and the 1.5X with only a 20mm... but the view angle is the same in both after factoring in the horizontal gains of the anamorphic. Thus, combining various front and rear anamorphic blocks may change the squeeze factor, and may increase taking lens compatibility, but the actual maximum angle of view will always be identical to that of the donor scope of the front anamorphic block. If I dare, I might some day combine some different rear groups with my Kowa 16-H to attempt a conversion to 1.5X squeeze, but even at 2X, it remains the widest projection scope out there. When I dug into these B&L lenses I was pretty disheartened to learn of the inevitable balsam separation and how difficult it is to successfully re cement anamorphic blocks. They produce some beautiful images, and if tuned correctly, can be very sharp. I wish some of the modern anamorphic adapter manufacturers would take note... there’s still no substitute for simple glass, simple optical formulas, and just scaling it as big as is needed to make that work even without fancy coatings. Sure it’s heavy, but the big glass just... works.1 point -
Z Cam E2 will have ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FPS in 4K??
Adept reacted to Zak Forsman for a topic
A couple weeks ago I shot some test footage with my buddy, John. He's a great actor that has played lead roles in a few of my films. Anyway, to get the old creative juices going again, I invited him over so I could see how the E2 reacted under my Quasar Science RGBX LED lamps. I used a combination of daylight balanced and cyan. I intended to sell the E2 when my F6 arrives at the end of this month, but I think the E2 plus speedbooster will be an excellent b-cam to my F6 when I need high frame rates that the F6 can't reach.
