I'm afraid the only one looking like an idiot is the person who claims to have opened a factory after he got a tour at a plant that has been running for years. Couldn't invent it. Who needs comedians when we have trump?5 points

Wonder if Tim Apple thought the same thing about his customers before deciding to give the most divisive President in history a factory tour? Good to have a fact check. A proper one, not the Tory party one obviously. SO yeah, let's look at the facts. First let's define facts. That's for our Russian readers. Actually that got me interested... what IS the most commonly known fact about hedgehogs? ILLEGAL?????? Fuck me, you are carrying guns but can't carry a hedgehog? Anywhere where was I... Oh yeah, the truth, reality, actuality. Apple's factory was not opened by Trump today. Tim Apple gave him some easy to understand Apple propaganda on a tour, in an effort to stop Donald putting massive tariffs on all the stock coming in from China. A smart move from Apple, but at the risk of wading into politics. Sometimes better not to bother. It clearly pisses people off. Especially people who are constantly fed fake facts.4 points -

So who decides what is law and how it will be enforced in this 1% gov’t? Or are proposing wild west and prairie justice? Have you driven on a road lately? Who built it? Flown in a plane to somewhere? Who made sure it didn’t collide with another plane? How did you buy your cameras? And with what? Did you pay in sea shells and gold flakes? I get that gov’t doesn’t work for everybody. Gov’t fails people, sometimes in spectacular ways. But throwing out, wholesale, a system that frankly you use everyday for even the tiniest niceties in your life is asinine. Reform it. Don’t destroy it. Frankly I agree with you on one aspect. There is way to much emotion and not enough self-awareness in this day and age. If only we could debate the Ideas and politics like we do the image out of a camera. But frankly, emotion seeps it’s way into that too. God help us.3 points -

From John Gruber (Daring Fireball): “This is how Apple chose to unveil the packaging for the Mac Pro — in a poorly-shot overexposed propaganda video by the White House, scored with bombastic music that sounds like it came from an SNL parody of a Michael Bay film. Think about how it feels to work on that team at Apple.” “A low moment in Apple’s proud history, and a sadly iconic moment for Tim Cook. I hope avoiding those tariffs is worth it.” BEAUTIFULLY GRADED! Apple’s latest ad is a brave new direction for the Cupertino tech giant’s brand. To celebrate, I have created the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT. The favoured look of the US President is perfect for factory tour videos or nationalist propaganda. The LUT has a muted, washed, bleached contrast with no life and no joy in it. So if that’s what your scene demands, be sure to use the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT today. Download the Tim Apple LUT (.cube format, free of charge, but at cost to your soul, 100% tested with Final Cut Pro X, Premiere and Resolve) "I Can't wait to see What you guys creates [sic] with this fantastic LUT" - Donald2 points -

Please don't blame that delusion on Boomers. Many of us created a lot of the things and people that make the world a good place. This was announced a few days ago, and I expected people here to get chatting, but since no-one's picked it up... This thing looks really good: - Revolutionary acoustic design – delivers unmatched acoustic transparency and a natural, uncoloured sound similar to a broadcast shotgun mic. - Unique infinitely variable gain control allows you to precisely match the mic's output to your recording device. - Auto-sensing 3.5mm output intelligently switches between TRS and TRRS to accommodate both cameras and mobile devices. - USB output – the VideoMic NTG is also a fully-featured USB mic! - Headphone output for seamless audio monitoring when using the USB output. - Digital switching for high-pass filter, pad, high frequency boost, and safety channel. - dB peak warning light. - Auto-power function switches the mic on/off with your recording device. - In-built rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 30+ hours of use. - Lightweight (just 94g) and rugged.1 point

paulinventome reacted to Brian Williams for a topic
I don't have mine with me at the moment to check this, but I'm pretty sure you can't, you have to set the focus point first, then zoom in, and once there you can't change the position until you zoom back out and move the focus point. I'll confirm this tonight. Which sucks, yes.1 point -
I personally don’t care about 6k but would care very much for an IBIS 4K 60p body. Make it an XH2 or XT4, I don’t mind either way but just make it. Ideally with the shutter from the XH1 and battery from the GFX medium format body. Thanks Fuji.1 point

Sigma Fp review and interview / Cinema DNG RAW
Lars Steenhoff reacted to paulinventome for a topic
A bit more info for those interested. Firstly, as expected, setting white balance in camera does not affect the RAW file. There have been cameras that have baked white balance before, the Sony FS700 for one used to do that (or the FS7, one of them did). But that does not happen here. Secondly i'm enclosing the image of the linearisation curve in 8 bit. It's a good curve, it's not log but redistributes the values in a way that makes sense. Thirdly. Anyone worked out WTF is going on with focus magnification? So in cine mode, i can assign the AEL button to zoom. But how do i move around the screen to focus on different areas. I would have thought the control ring would (like on any other camera). It is possible - you can do it through elevntybillion key presses. Also pressing the touch screen would make sense but that just puts the auto focus points up... I must be missing something here! cheers Paul1 point -
Skydio 2
Emanuel reacted to Video Hummus for a topic
I wish the camera was a bit better. Seems it performs the best in 60p HDR. I’m wondering about the 24/30p modes. Ive crashed my original Mavic Pro. And it wasn’t really my fault. I took my eyes off it for less than 3 seconds in a seemingly stable hover. In those 3 seconds in managed to drift into a rock wall and tumble to the ground into a pool of water. Ever since then I’ve wanted a drone like skydio 2. The ability to fly it manually with a controller but have it assist in not hitting things is my holy grail in a drone. Mavic 2 Pro is pretty effective but not like this. The SkyDio 2 only uses user input as intent and pretty much flys itself. I love it.1 point -

Hurrah. Apsc is the ideal sensor size IMHO. Better noise and dynamic range than m43, higher frame rates than full frame, easier to move and cool than full frame. Speed-boostable for a full frame look. There's nothing sensible out there at the moment so I'll be watching this fuji closely.1 point

I am not American, and I think Trump says the strangest things. But, he is arguably the most successful US president of all time. I may not be a Trump fan, but I prefer him over both the Clintons, Obama and many others. Obama getting the Nobel for farting in his dreams was way more shady than anything else. EVER. The US has been heading for a financial collapse for the last few years (since the Dollar Store and Wallmark rise). Now China is literally taking away millions of US jobs and Fortune 500 is inundated with Chinese Companies. Apple would have been relegated to 4th or 5th position in smartphone sales, if the US wasnt doing all the shady stuff it is (to be fair, US Trade and IP Laws have been anything but fair since they were created). Also TikTok and other chinese tech startups are going to be displacing Twitter and Facebook (even though it doesn't do similar things to either) very soon. That's why Google is planning a TikTok ban soon (if it hadn't already). Europe and the US are heading for both economic and cultural collapse. The only question, I guess, is how quickly.1 point

What is sold at the concession stand is literally more important than what you're worried about. Filmmakers are usually better off when they stop concentrating on odd details --and instead just move forward with creating something.1 point -
Discovery I Made About Distribution A While Ago

Don't dwell on it. If your film is good enough, it's not an issue. If they want to show your film, they'll find a screen for it. If they don't want to show it, the fact that they have a spare theater with the right aspect ratio isn't going to magically make them want to screen it.1 point -
@Alt Shoo - congratulations on the film! It sounds very interesting. Did you shoot in 4K? And what about the final distribution / screening format. If course it doesn’t really matter, and I still enjoy using my LS300, I’m just interested in other workflows haha.1 point

Unless you're an American citizen why don't you STFU. We come here for your video expertise, which is significant, not your political opinion, which is suspect. Everyone knows Trump didn't open that factory, that it has been making the previous generation Mac Pros for years now. He DID, however, convince Tim Cook to bring production BACK to Austiin, Texas after previously stating that the new Mac Pro would be made in China. So in a sense he did kind of open that factory again. Those of us who are logical and unbiased knew what he was implying. Get over it and stick with cameras, please. Otherwise you look like a fool, Andrew.-1 points
