You might want to read "The Paranoid Style in American Politics", for a useful description of Trump's style of politics, and that of the Republican party. Or for a more modern update, consider the views of two "fellows" of the American Enterprise Institute -- a right-wing think tank -- who explained what the Republicans were as of 2012: "The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition." But I know that's music to you! Just the chattering of libtards, right? What global warming? It's cold outside! And so what if the poorest and most backward areas of country -- the ones which receive far more Federal dollars than they put in, thanks to the much richer liberal states -- are the big Trump supporters? That just proves they're virtuous! Thing is, while we don't mind paying your bills (there's nothing wrong with "welfare"), it's galling to be told that we're the ones who love the nanny state, when it's the American south, Trump country, which is on the government tit. Then again, if you believe Obama was born in Kenya and the famous server is in Ukraine, you may have difficulty distinguishing credits from debits. Or maintaining any notion of "good government" or a decent civil society. Ah, Jonesy.... This fantasy world of yours. You might want to try Guatemala or Nigeria, if you hate big government. And take your camera! They love log footage in hot libertarian paradises.4 points -

I found the ipb to be quite jittery in motion and the All-I had a buttery motion to the eye. The All-I is easier to edit too. It reminds me of the mjpeg in character. Could have been a frame rate setting issue, but those additional MBs make a hell of a difference from my experience.3 points -

Why don't you focus on the facts. The factory first went into production for the 2013 Mac Pro. Trump is claiming he is responsible for opening the factory in 2019, so he can take the credit for other people's hard work, making his 'economic policies' look like they're working (they are not BTW). Who has a log in your eye?? It's not me in England I can assure you of that. Let's see if you can make one single follow-up post that addresses that fact of the factory opening. Let's see if you can do it. I don't want a load of emotional hurt posturing or diverting tactics. Just answer me a very simple question. Did your President intentionally mislead - yes or no?3 points -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flex_(company) Watch the video of Trump on the factory tour. The workers wear the logo "Flex" Flex built the Mac Pro from 2013 in Austin. Apple are simply continuing what they started in 2013, in the same factory, with the same contractor. Flex are a multinational. A multinational builds stuff in more than one country. That is what "multinational" means. Flex has chosen to locate it's HQ in Singapore. Since 1993. But yes, it's all Trump.3 points -

Guys, you don't understand what's required. Here's the painting which was purchased by Trump's charity(!), for one of Trump's golf resorts. You know, the charity which raised money to support veterans. But bought portraits of Donald instead. To hang on the walls of Trump resorts. Now *that's* world-class color correction:2 points -

Thenks so much! In terms of matching the cameras, the only difficult part is between the S1 and the Sony cams and we have been tweaking the profiles a little each shoot so we can get closer and closer. Mostly the difference between both images is that the S1 image is much more saturated and sharp so I usually blur it and desaturate and match colour in post. It’s not that bad in the end and I have gotten used to it. Plus the S1 image can be pushed around a lot. As for the mavic filters, I believe we use polar pros, but I’d have to check.2 points

From John Gruber (Daring Fireball): “This is how Apple chose to unveil the packaging for the Mac Pro — in a poorly-shot overexposed propaganda video by the White House, scored with bombastic music that sounds like it came from an SNL parody of a Michael Bay film. Think about how it feels to work on that team at Apple.” “A low moment in Apple’s proud history, and a sadly iconic moment for Tim Cook. I hope avoiding those tariffs is worth it.” BEAUTIFULLY GRADED! Apple’s latest ad is a brave new direction for the Cupertino tech giant’s brand. To celebrate, I have created the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT. The favoured look of the US President is perfect for factory tour videos or nationalist propaganda. The LUT has a muted, washed, bleached contrast with no life and no joy in it. So if that’s what your scene demands, be sure to use the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT today. Download the Tim Apple LUT (.cube format, free of charge, but at cost to your soul, 100% tested with Final Cut Pro X, Premiere and Resolve) "I Can't wait to see What you guys creates [sic] with this fantastic LUT" - Donald1 point

Yes. He's fair game, and could end up in jail, though there's a statute of limitations which he can run out on at least some charges if he's in office long enough. Civil charges are almost certain, New York State is already working on it, but whether he ends up facing criminal charges in state or Federal courts remains to be seen. It comes down to whether they'll have the cojones to do it, for an ex-president and his age. This is one reason he'll do anything to get re-elected.1 point -
I know it's hard to understand, but good government and the difference between reality and make believe is actually still important to some people. Not to Trumpers, as you've made clear, but you really do need to make more allowances for people who still read and think.1 point

Please don't sand it, it's a hack, not a fix. The tolerances on the housing are very tight, If your iscorama is warped, the plastic body is not ideally concentric around the lens helical (which is brass to brass, so no warping there for sure). What you need to do is to adjust the smaller metal ring and the way it sits around the plastic body using three small grub screws, until it's perfectly concentric. Try tightening them quarter turn at a time. It's a game of balance, and time spent doing this depends on how bad the warping of the plastic is. Just play with those screws, spend 10, 15, 30 minutes if needed, quarter turn at a time. Loosen one screw and tighten two others to move the small metal ring in the opposite direction of where the traction happens. Alternatively you can take a caliper, measure the body in the pace where traction occurs, and compare that diameter measurement to the perpendicular diameter of the oval of the body. If the difference is drastic, like 0.5mm or more, you can try to squeeze the plastic in the direction of bigger diameter, to alter the shape a bit. If iscorama was stored on the side it could be warped that way. It sounds a bit barbaric to squeeze the plastic, but it's the issue some of my customers had and it help them. Just be gentle. One person measured the tolerance of their rama and the difference in diameters was 1.2mm which is crazy – that polymer really does not age well, plus if the lens was laying in a box on it's side for 50 years it shows too. Also Germans chose a material that simply cannot have good tolerances even in theory – I have several iscoramas, some have nameplates that are exactly 72mm, but some have it at 72.8, and some at 71.2 – this is crazy, and some of them don't even screw into standard metal filters, simply because they're too big. Maxiscope was my attempt to fix this issue for good, as it's a full metal body that replaces plastic, so you don't have to rely on tolerances and issues of the plastic body anymore. Hope this helps.1 point

High irony. It's you he's playing. His own supporters. He plays you like a fiddle, plays to your needs. You needed an alternative to liberal elites, socialism and you wanted someone to stand up to China, bringing back the blue-collar jobs in the process. In principal there is nothing wrong with this. Trump supporters are a bit like Brexit supporters, as in some had heartfelt concerns, genuine needs not being met by the current system, genuine reasons for voting "out" of a globalist system that wasn't working for them. The tragedy is nobody really stood up for these people in a constructive way, and then social media came along and really fucked things up further, polarising and distorting the truth. Hipsters all over, in gentrified neighbourhoods, in every coffee shop, self obsessed, never looking up from their Macbooks to even notice there was a problem. Ignorance all around. A complete failure on both sides to see the point of view of the other. Divided we fall. So when Trump comes along he fills the vacuum perfectly. Like Boris Johnson in the UK, he is patriotic, he's a fixer, he wants to get things done and unite the country, and he wants to win big. The art of the deal, not a politician, not a robot reading from a script about LGBT+ rights, someone who you could imagine actually running a factory, defending a house, or fighting off a communist invasion. Like in the good old days. Someone you could imagine walking in through the doors of a factory like Apple's, giving a rousing speech about how the US is the most powerful country on God's green Earth, and then overnight the profit doubles and he goes for a beer with the workers done the pub. Trump. HAHA Fooled by a gameshow host. Pretty much everybody internationally laughing at you, pointing, saying "how could you be so stupid to elect this guy". How does it feel? I'd be angry too. It's a massive let down. Not just for you as a Trump voter but for me as a Brit, with the close relationship and culture we share as two powerful Western economies. We are going to fall like Rome. Trump filled a dangerous vacuum left by Obama, and he did it 100% for self-serving reasons. Supercharged by the internet, a faction on both sides has become radicalised. In the UK we have the Labour party's swing to a hard-left, socialist party. The Conservative centre-right has been shown the door, and we have our own far-right movement at the heart of government to contend with, along with the same kind of corruption to go with it... The Russian inception deep into business and communities. I am in the centre. You can't be played if you arm yourself with the facts. But it is a lonely place to be in the world today. Nobody wants to hear you. The system is broken. People died to defend our democracies, but now we've been disenfranchised from within, locked in a Hobson's choice death spiral where no third party or independent can break through or turn things around - no evidence based or factual based running of the government is possible any more. It is the same in the US, and it is clear even after a few years in a chaotic and corrupt self-serving government that Trump still has millions fooled. That is extraordinary to me. Where are you getting your news from? Social media is now the largest and most powerful publisher in the world. So probably from that. It was a social media phenomena that first got Trump's campaign noticed and the traditional media talking about it. It is social media that keeps him there. If you are rich and powerful enough, and opportunistic or famous enough, as was Trump, then you can come in and pretend you are out for the workers and the patriotic, wave the flag, lie a lot, grab pussies, throw up the reality distortion field, take the Russian money, smash the government and claim the credit for Apple building computers in their existing 2013 factory. In the UK we throw rocks at politicians at every turn, rather than nurture strong and honourable leadership, we don't encourage talent to go into public life, they earn far more at private companies, in scientific projects, running their own business, creative sector, filmmaking, you name it... We need more good people in politics but it is not happening. The tribal arguement between left and right makes a collaborative cross-party atmosphere where good ideas on both sides can be executed, impossible. We have had this for decades. Then when the system turns even more toxic and tribal we double down with aggressive questioning, asking why nothing is performing, why the health service is broken, why promises keep getting broken and on and on... until we end up with such a poor calibre of politician they end up doing severe harm to the interests of the country, then we wonder where it all went wrong. The US and UK are a democracy and we, the people, get what we deserve. Wake the fuck up.1 point

Definitely something that it 2-part so that it's curing to form a strong bond. You could also try doing a double layer where you cut out things that will fit in flush (glued with epoxy) and then sand them flat and epoxy on patches over the top of that. Then it's two glue-ups that are protecting it rather than one.1 point -

1. You can't use EOS EF-S (APS-C) Canon lenses on any speedbooster or Canon full frame camera. They have plastic part that protrudes deeper then normal full frame EOS EF lenses. Some people modify - cut the protruding part or simply pop up the plastic part in the back of the lens in order to mount them on full frame camera. I've done it on cheap EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 but won't do it on expensive EF-S 17-55mm f2.8. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF-S_lens_mount Solution is to use third party lenses, like Sigma or Tamron, they have standard EF mount and fit without problem. 2. Viltrox speedboosters are cheap but often problematic. That's my conclusion. Have exactly the same combination as The ghost of squig - Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 + Viltrox EF-M2 II and it doesn't work. Tried BMPCC 4K firmware 6.2 and 6.6 and Viltrox firmware 2.3 , 3.3. Neither stabilization nor aperture work in any combination of firmware. So maybe my Viltrox is defective because it can't even change aperture of any other Canon lens I have (24-105mm, 50mm, Tokina 11-16mm) except Canon EF 35mm f2 (old version). By the way there is new Viltrox firmaware 3.4 but can't test it now. Solution for me is unfortunately to buy the much more expensive Metabones speedbooster. Otherwise BMPCC 4K is great for me. It has it quirks, they are well known but there are ways to get around them. Like and use the camera a lot.1 point

Rode VideoMic NTG
Mako Sports reacted to Kisaha for a topic
"- Revolutionary acoustic design – delivers unmatched acoustic transparency and a natural, uncoloured sound similar to a broadcast shotgun mic." So why do they still sell their other NTG microphones? This is an exaggeration for sure. This is clearly competing against newer Deity and Azden on camera mics, do not see many of us sell our Sennheiser/Sanken/DPA/Shoeps microphones for this. I still believe the MKE440 is the best on camera solution, directional stereo is the best idea. I also expect my Sanken CS-M1 on the Cosi to be a lot better in every aspect (sound quality and characteristics and wind and handling protection) and that is really a boom-able solution. Certainly seems like the best on camera mic Rode has to offer, but that doesn't mean their older designs were very good. In all my years in video productions and 20 years as a soundman, I only owned the micro and I recently bought the NT-SF1 from Rode. It is good that there are a lot more new audio products in the market, I just hope some young people will educate more themselves into sound production.1 point -

I don't like to use that kind of rhetoric because it dumbs down discourse and makes it impossible to have intelligent discussion. But it's extremely frustrating that information is so readily available and yet we have people taking politicians at their word. If you're not skeptical of everything that comes out of a politician's mouth, including ones that are on "your side," then I really don't know what to say. Words still have meaning to some of us, and things like "alternative facts" don't really exist. The truth is apolitical, no matter how much people try to spin it and muddy the waters. If someone can't admit, or accept, that the President is intentionally misleading people on this subject I'm really not sure what to say and worry that they are a lost cause because they are beyond caring about the truth at this point. It's hard to come back from that.1 point

Kipon announced a EF-MFT Mount Adapter with variable ND filter. Supports auto focus too. Suggested retail will be about $600 US, which seems a bit high since it isn't a speed booster, but it wouldn't shock me to see Viltrox or one of the other Chinese companies put out a decent low priced version. https://www.tokyotrading.jp/info/可変ndフィルター搭載afマウントアダプター-「ef-mft-af-nd」/1 point -
Seems to be fixed on firmware 2.10: "Fixed an issue that in rare cases resulted in “noise” in the form of fine horizontal lines appearing throughout the frame in movies and the live view display." ? This is no laughing matter. Psychologically speaking, the first sentence counts the most ("Trump opened a new plant"). Even if you got everyone to read an explanation on how this is not true at all, the vast majority would still believe he did something good. In reality, most won't even bother reading anything past this sentence and his reputation grows even bigger. Basically, the same thing that Apple does all the time at their presentation. No details, just wild claims and the fans are appeased.1 point

The Z-cam looks really interesting, but it's already $1k more than the S1h, not to mention the necessary cost of still needing to add a monitor, and of course the lack of ibis and need for rigging to make it more suitably ergonomic, all of which the S1H can do out of the box, which is still a fantastic hybrid for still-use to boot. That being said, I'd love to see how much of an IQ and potentially DR-edge the Z-cam raw files give it over the Panasonic though. If it blows it out of the water, hopefully that can spur Panny in to giving us some raw-love as well. Gotta love competition!1 point

They centralize wealth, debase currencies and cheapen labor. Trump (but really the American system) getting attacked for attacking their system, the Anglo-Dutch liberal financial system. Lots of propaganda out there. Mind you Obama made it legal when he repealed the Smith act. Trump will win in the end, has the backing of the military, it’s really CIA vs NSA duking it out. Unless you're an American citizen why don't you STFU. We come here for your video expertise, which is significant, not your political opinion, which is suspect. Everyone knows Trump didn't open that factory, that it has been making the previous generation Mac Pros for years now. He DID, however, convince Tim Cook to bring production BACK to Austiin, Texas after previously stating that the new Mac Pro would be made in China. So in a sense he did kind of open that factory again. Those of us who are logical and unbiased knew what he was implying. Get over it and stick with cameras, please.
