  1. I posted a few clips from a shoot I was on in Guatemala on social and had a bunch of people ask me to show how I coloured one of the clips so I decided to put a quick tutorial together. Thought that I would share here in case anyone is interested. Doesn't seem to be that much on YT for Davinci Resolve.

  2. Thanks. Yes, a Panasonic one will happen reasonably soon.

  3. Oh shit. Prepare for all the YouTube videos with the word “finally” and “beast” in all caps! Looks like it does 4K 60p.

Ok, I bit the bullet and got it (for $8 Australian). I didn't realise it actually had a FD adaptall fitted (until I started trying to put another FD adaptall on the bottom....so much for looking at it closely). First impressions are i think I will like this lens...will try it at a Xmas lunch party tomorrow.

I made a little 3D simulation once that showed a comparison between different focal lengths on different size sensors, maybe I should look into adding anamorphic and/or more specific camera sensor sizes? Would anyone be interested?

  8. Amazing job, @BTM_Pix. If I had a Pocket, for sure would be joining the campaign. Any plans to make a Panasonic version? (Ideal would be a Olympus one, but judging from the lack of controls of the Oly app, probably the protocol is very bad)

  10. Well, its been a while and its changed quite a bit.... But this is your official 7 day countdown for pre-orders opening on 12/12/19. As the festive season is approaching then in true advent calendar style, open this thread every day for more stuff. PBC Tease 1.mp4

  11. Anamorphic Store products are very pricey for what they are. Their single focuser is rather crappy (see the anamorphic shooters FB group). I would avoid. Rapido has a much better deal. The single focus solution is much better and has wider coverage. You could also consider putting several parts together yourself. Cinelux ES goes for 300-400. FVD 16 is 550. Then you will need some clamps and a support (let's say 150-250). In other words, 1000 dollar gets you a lot.

  12. You seem to be mistakenly thinking the Z6 is "bad in lowlight" when it is not.

  13. Probably needs a fixed screen and 8 bit to make up for the 4K60p. There must always be an inexplicable nerf to keep the universe from imploding.

Took it for a walk this morning. Seems very nice but there is play between the adaptall and FD to E adapter so sometimes it does not focus to infinity (or at all). Going to be hard to use for video but some stills use (I will just have to try other combinations of adaptalls and adapters before knowing if it just joins the junk lying around). This beach is hundreds of miles inland but was just named as the ninth best in Australia for 2019! Jpeg as taken (resized only). A7s and 28-80 Tamron (model 27A).

  16. @mojo43 watched the video - cool stuff! It's definitely a striking result, and you explained it pretty well. Some thoughts if I may.. Yes, please make more videos showing your grades One thing I've noticed from other grading videos is that they start off by talking about the colour, but every time they touch a control they then explain what the control is and how to use it (literally things like which way to drag the mouse to change the value) and I find that really infuriating, so don't fall into the trap of over-explaining the tools (which you didn't) How to use Resolve is covered by many many people, but what isn't covered is the art side of it, both from a perspective of talking about what you're seeing (eg, how to choose a good amount of contrast and what you're looking for) as well as from a perspective of why you want that much contrast and how that relates to the content of your film (eg, how colours link with the emotions of the characters, etc) If you can talk about the art and not how to use each tool then you'll find yourself without that much competition, and the videos will be useful to people who already know how to drive the tools. I'm looking forward to the next one!

  19. I'll watch when I get home, but you're right about not so much on YT. I started a thread about Resolve and colour grading just to collect resources so that we can share them - it's here:

  20. Fair point, D3s has a 50% longer shutter life, but there is also everything else about a heavily worn body over the years than just the shutter life. A cheap D3s has gone through the wars, while cheap D500 might just be a hobbyist who is bored and moving over to mirrorless now. Would cost an arm and a leg. Then after that.... why not just wait for the A7R V? Then after that, wait for the A7R VI instead? And then...

  22. Here is a 90 sec profile doc I just finished. Shot primarily in HLG but with some slow motion shots in Cine-D. Graded in Resolve with FilmConvert. Primarily shot on the leica 12-60 and some shots on sigma 18-35 with speedbooster. https://youtu.be/vnp89sXyp84
