And sometimes you just need some damn IBIS!

  3. Post and talk about what you find. Sometimes you can get a real deal, especially on the c-mount stuff under £500. The Cooke look for me beats everything else. Everything.

  5. I’ve not tested, but I expect the main effect would be a crash - same most features Adobe introduce.

  6. Well I can say I'm pretty impressed. It works in bright conditions as advertised and the files I'm now getting from my Z6 are blowing me away. More samples and impressions to come.

  8. You still have the same issue, even with speedboosters/focal reducers for larger format lens in that there are not that many that are available that become any faster than lenses already available for FF. You will have some that will be about AS fast but not really any faster and of course, any lens you can speedboost for MF you should be able to do likewise for FF. FF lenses are sometimes not that far off of the limits to speed that can be made readily which is why that seems to be the sweetspot in that you can make "affordable" lenses that are only a stop or two slower than the limits in air (f0.5 or 0.6 is it?) Bigger than FF and the market is a LOT smaller, and the lenses are bigger so they cost more and do not usually get made in any great numbers and especially at faster speeds. My kit of (mostly) ancient lenses includes a 24 1.4, an 85 1.2 and 300 2.8 and I used to have a couple of 50 1.2 (oh and I have a 135mm 1.8 even if it is not very good) lenses used FF ....what would I use to replace those with the GFX that had shallower DOF? No question that it should work if there were the lenses available but there are not. I would also love to try my Canon 17mm f4 L TS-E on a GFX as it would fit without vignetting and be wider.

  9. I don't agree with Tony Northrup on a lot of stuff, but I do believe his take on the EOS R5 is probably pretty close to reality. I'm having a hard time believing the rumors on the R5. The specs could be correct but with a lot of asterisks. In other words, 8k time lapse, short duration 4k at 120fps or severely cropped, etc.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uczXVIWSJyo

Cutting edge technology will always be easier/cheaper/sooner with smaller sensors. Plus like @Lars Steenhoff said, physics means the lenses will always be more compact with smaller sensors.

  11. Hey Francisco, unfortunately I cannot give an accurate assessment on that yet. Been shooting in mainly cold weather. I'll do a test with a microphone at some point. It ramps on when you first turn on the unit, but so far has been very quiet outside of that. I imagine outside on a hot day at full power it might be generating a bit of noise but will have to see. Image is 10-bit 1080p from Z6. Battery life seems okay, in very cold temp at full brightness a single battery lasts an hour and a half.

  12. Write it up in your native language and we can put it through google translate? Language isn't the barrier it used to be and shouldn't get in the way of talking about what matters.

On RedUser there is a big thread on FDs. Not sure whether this topic has come up or not.

  16. I’d be interested if the cinema variant of the GFX100 is still on track. I forget if the sensor is Quad Bayer in addition to being x-trans technology?

    Canon EOS R6

10-bit 422 internally is a must from now on for any higher end mirrorless body. I’d much rather have that than 5.5k raw.

  21. I’m really interested to see where the actual specs land. If it offers 4K/60p no crop and pixel binned then that’s good enough for me. 4K120p with a heavy crop and no AF is fine with me. Oversampled 4K24/30p would be amazing. Dual pixel in every mode up to 60p would be killer as well as roughly 13.5 stops DR to compete with S1H.

I was expecting the X-Hx range would get dropped, and likely the X-H1 would have been the only one ever. And the top two features I wanted brought over is: IBIS and the top LCD screen. Glad to see the X-T4 will have both! A flip out screen is fantastic too, this will be the best ever vlogging camera??

It really does sound too good to be true. But again, Fuji gave us the XT3 and that camera is a dream (the only reason I didn't buy it after trying was lack of IBIS and flip screen). When I was using the XT3 I tried out the 23mm f/2 and 16-55 f/2.8 both were super reliable and a joy to use.

    Fuji X-T4

Sounds too good to be true. I hope the X-H2 sized body and weather sealing is correct. Much prefer that form factor over X-T3. For Fuji owners, how do you find the native lenses for video?

  26. For that sample I used a manual 7Artisans lens which has vintage characteristics. Except the Sigma 18-35 and some Tokina zooms for their versatility, I avoid modern lens designs (like the ultra sharp Panasonic/Leicas, for example). Regarding GFX 100's sharpness btw, here's a test I did yesterday comparing it to the BMPCC4k (more information on its youtube page, not via the video itself): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efx6i5LMPK4&t=2s
