  1. Only, only, only, only, only, only, only, only, only, Sony waited until their smartphone division is almost dead before leveraging their in-house imaging knowledge. Their new flagship looks very good on paper (4K 60p HDR) and a big 24mm 12mp sensor. Hopefully it is not too little to late. Although, picking one of these in a clearance sale would not be bad either. I guess this means no 5G or 4G connectivity in their cams etc.

  6. Honestly, I'm patiently waiting to hear your thoughts on the camera before I make a decision about it. As it is now, I'm not compelled to get one, but I think you're probably familiar enough with my tastes to know if it's something I should bother saving up for, or buying when there's a decent price drop. I have to stop reading this site... I start the day completely content with what I have and now I'm thinking about what films I can shoot with a Micro or an FP... I NEED HELP!!!

  7. Exactly! What the hell took them this long. It's a brilliant integration that they should have had before now. Hell this feature alone is making me consider it for my next phone. Always having a HDMI monitor on hand is brilliant.

  8. Itā€™s not the final look, but I recently picked up a Z Cam E2C, though Iā€™m still waiting on a few parts. Iā€™m coming from an old EOS M, so this will definitely be a weird change. Unfortunately, this 28-200mm is my only EF lens, and itā€™s pretty crappy.

  9. I often look at the 4 or 5 cameras in my bag and think ā€œthis cost me far too much and theyā€™re all the sameā€. Then I have a cup of tea and try to forget about it. Yes itā€™s true, the full frame market is overcrowded and image quality differences between them are getting smaller. What about selling 3 or 4 of those cameras, I thought to myselfā€¦ And consolidating them into one giant mad one. So this happenedā€¦ https://www.eoshd.com/filmmaking/inspecting-the-fuji-gfx-100-and-having-a-cup-of-tea/

  11. Hey guys, I wanted to share with you an awesome and affordable monitor made by IKAN that can, with a tiny bit of work, be used as an EVF. The main reason I wanted an EVF + loupe for my Micro setup was to create a fourth-point of contact between my Micro and my body. With my right-hand on the ENG grip, left-hand on the len's focus-ring, chest-pad against my right-shoulder, having the IKAN + loupe pressed up against my right-eye added that extra piece of stability I have been looking for - not to mention being able to monitor and pull focus perfectly in bright daylight. For those interested, the monitor is called the IKAN VL35 and can be had for as little as $259USD: http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=1738 I rigged it together with an old ViewFinder that I used to use with my A7S and A7RII. Having sold those cameras, I decided to use it as a loupe for my IKAN VL35. It doesn't fit the VL35 perfectly (as it is designed for 3" monitors, and the VL35 is a 3.5" monitor), but it will do for now. However, the good news is IKAN recently told me that they will be releasing a loupe specifically designed for the VL35 - and given the affordability of the monitor itself, I'm sure the loupe will be priced very nicely. As for the quality of the monitor itself - all I can say is that it's great Very similar to the monitor on the BMPCC. I haven't conducted any scientific or methodical tests yet, such as running down the battery or precisely measuring colour and luminosity, but I have used it plenty in the real-world, and it has functioned flawlessly and beautifully. Highly recommended for those looking for a setup like this Anyway, here are some pictures for those that are interested

    How much do you make

Supply and demand. Also, the devaluation of the service/product. Which direction you looking?

  14. Sure. I got mine from powerextra's distributor out of California. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-6-6Ah-NP-F960-Battery-For-Sony-NP-F970-NP-F975-NP-F960-and-Smart-Phone-w-USB/264401969297?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I forgot to also mention an even easier option that doesn't require an added battery sled: If you're using a monitor that uses Sony NPF batteries (most do), Just insert this battery into your monitor, and use a DC to Weipu cable to your Blackmagic 6K. There's several cables there, but this was the cheapest one from B&H (happens to be from Tilta): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1490898-REG/tilta_ta_t01_dc_pc_bmpcc4k_5_5_2_5mm_dc.html?lsft=BI%3A514&gclid=CjwKCAiAhc7yBRAdEiwAplGxX5GicoBgFbqupXftJu6FVUTH8u1sX77KOUconCCKg48txkKYubcqOBoCEN4QAvD_BwE

  15. I am fine with 1080p content for sure, I usually downscale to HD or shoot in HD and then render in 4k for youtube. I am actually looking into Super16mm film glass. The URSA is S35 but if you shoot RAW in 2k or HD its cropped, which good be useful if I want to invest in those kind of lenses. I did shoot some footage with the URSA, but I have no lenses for it so it was a black screen lol. Waiting on my EF mount to arrive so I can test it with glass.

    Mad Mike case

Do not be misled! The Great Conspiracy of Cartographers will not prevail! Despite their efforts to sabotage the search for TRUTH with this ā€œaccidentā€, the TRUTH will be revealed!!! Martyr Mikeā€™s body may now be led to rest under the flat earth, but the TRUTH will rise and take itā€™s ascendancy over the promulgations of the false spherical earth theorists!!!!!

  17. Many V-Mounts have USB out, so that solves the power problem... Hopefully there's some kind of auto turn vibration off feature when you plug in the HDMI. Getting a text midway through a shot could ruin the take.

  19. The only money I make is from a part-time job and I am a part-time student as well. Filmmaking when you are starting out does not pay well, because well the competition is these professional music videos for pop singers and these Hollywood movies despite how negative that sounds. We are like the indie bands at a rock concert where the majority of the audience wants to see the main bands.

  21. Shot on EM1x, looks very very nice. They used 17mm 1.2 and 25mm 1.2 with segments on the 12-100f4 and 300mm f4 according to the comments. Love the handheld tracking shot using a wheelbarrow at the end.

  22. Sorry I posted the wrong link in my last reply. It's still a good article about TWD... and apparently I was wrong, they shoot TWD on 16mm, not S16. This is the article about FTWD... https://www.panavision.com/mcdonough-brings-anamorphic-look-fear-walking-dead

    AGASCOPE - worth buying?

I have shoot severeal feature films with the Agascope lenses back in the eigthies. The most famous one was "Ninja Mission" in 1984. Today a cult movie. I used all four of them with the Debrie mount on Arriflex IIC cameras. These lenses are NOT old soft lenses. They are supersharp with good contrast. Fantastic lenses! In the fifties and sixties you could only rent them. AGA never sold any lenses so lenses on the market was probably stolen. I think that the above one is a prototype as I have never seen or heard of a 50mm Agascope. The lens was made in 1959, at the end of the Agascope production era. They came in 46, 75, 105 and 210mm. I donĀ“t think there are any problem rehousing these lenses today.

  25. The real challenge is longevity and to avoid being jaded by your own content and subjects, honestly that is a big challenge after a few years, as is burnout, because YouTube (and blogs) all have a relentless pace, it never ends and takes over your every waking thought. It's easy to turn off from a normal 9-5 job but not if you are a YouTuber. If you can keep the hit videos and passion flowing for 10 years without a break, that is honestly a miracle and almost never happens. I sometimes tune out of the camera world completely and stop blogging on EOSHD for months. This isn't because I've lost interest or no longer want to talk to people I know and like, sometimes it is as simple as wanting to do something else, not having anything to shoot, but then coming back refreshed with new ideas. Well done @DaveAltizer with how the YouTube channel is working out for you, it's great. And we should do the podcast soon as well, when I am back more regularly in world of cameras.

  26. I was lucky enough to break six figures last year with 73,000 subs. Iā€™ve never enjoyed my work more and iā€™ve never made more in my life. I highly recommend it if youā€™re thinking of starting a youtube channel.

  27. Yep, I've said it elsewhere in these forums, but I love my battered GH3. I shoot with a GH5 mostly now (and a GX85), but always keep the GH3 close. And yeah, there is something really appealing about its black and white.

  28. I've been doing this for a decade and 2017 was the first year that I cracked low six figures, before taxes. I shoot, edit, and color behind the scenes and EPK for the major studios. What I make after taxes is between me and my accountant. I live in Los Angeles so living expenses are astronomical. My advice: take care of your body. I tore my rotator cuff six months ago and lugging cases from job to job has been hell on earth. Still haven't fully healed.
