    Understanding color

Sometimes it helps to comment on or discuss the content you introduce. Using the forum as a repository for videos which you have found (and, let’s be honest, others could find too) doesn’t develop a topic. Even providing something as simple as a justification of why you selected those particular videos would be interesting. Just my observation.

Emanuel, inspired by those youtube videos (massive information you've added), that still echoes in my head. https://gaddisvisuals.com/colorguide/ https://ymcinema.com/2019/10/15/color-wheel-a-filmmakers-main-instrument-in-digital-cinema/

  4. Zombie thread from 2013!! Yeah, this is a spammer. Curious how even after SEVEN YEARS (ok, more like 6 and a bit) the Sony F35 has only dropped a further 50% in value since then. It is 2020 and we still don't have an affordable Sony or Panasonic offering internal ProRes or raw! 😞

  5. Even though many of these videos are helpful and I'd miss them if it weren't for you @Emanuel, I'm with @Snowfun on this one. It almost feels like I opened YouTube and was greeted by my 'Recommended' section. Some videos there are on point, some are random, some cover the same topic again and again. And how do I know, which are worth my time? One could spend his whole life browsing through what YouTube offers us. It's not that I don't appreciate your contribution - I really do. You keep quite a few threads afloat and try to arouse some discussion and that's awesome. But if I could ask for only one thing, this would be some sort of a short commentary. What can we expect in the video, what did you find helpful / interesting, why did you choose to share it in the first place. No need to be defensive (at least that's what I felt reading your post above), since nobody here tries to attack / offend you in any way. Cheers!

I figure out your point and obviously respect that but, the same way I won't comment if I subscribe or not the way you or anyone here introduces your content or the color you choose to wear and rule your choices or daily life, I believe we must be tolerant with the difference. To begin with. Words or declarations of will are not enough. People reveal their guts along their deeds, above all. Even because I think you're used to already see me to write dozens of lines over here, isn't it? Then, I guess the fact I second that venerable premise of a picture is worth a thousand words, it should be sufficient to also fit your turn trying to understand the other side. Comes to my mind when people don't make a single effort to learn the foreign idiom but are expecting we have to be fluent on theirs... LOL ; ) On the other hand, search button didn't orient me to any thread you or any other here had remembered to open on such interesting topic well expressed through a couple of words as thread's title coming from 1st video posted BTW... can you answer me why? My turn to add my two cents now : ) In my native land, we're used to resume the whole thing in a couple of words. To resume my point: sofa coach. I am eager to see your contribution to be straightforward with you as well. I am not paid as much as everyone of us guests here, but I'd sincerely appreciate to see more people to find and select content outside and address it to this community. Really. Rather than criticize who spends a few of his time, even short, to do it. Because if you don't care, you always have the option to ignore it. Don't feel too bored or constrained to do it please : -) Maybe my habit to invariably post not only one or two videos as 99% of people usually do when bother to contribute, to follow my customary deep research (I only found 13 videos this time, I'm sorry : P), may have produced your reaction? If so, I invite you to read again the 1st paragraph of this post and show a bit more recognition or even gratitude once you arrived in this page after all. Pardon my lack of modesty now, but when I perform anything I am used to leave it complete, despite the form chosen. You know what? I normally start to look for coming to these boards and only when I see none of you had the generosity to add anything substantial on subject or organized in a thread, I decide to share the product of my search. For the sake of promoting discussion in addition. As index applies besides. Disclaimer: I sincerely appreciate and don't mind at all about your words, Snowfun. I take them as useful add-on anyway. My response is more prone to be addressed to some other ones who may concur on that, though :- D

  8. Well well well, life keeps rolling along and now I find myself writing a spec drama series pilot...! wild, right? whats shocking is that i kinda feel like i know what im doing?? like, if you said to me, years ago, “Just make a story bible to go with your pilot thats really visual with pictures and stuff,” i wouldve had NO idea what you were talking about so, i wouldve looked up the term ‘story bible’ (/‘show bible’, etc), and i wouldve said to myself WOW THIS IS A LOT OF WORK. (😂) a story bible, for the uninitiated, is simply a document that contains all the ‘big picture‘ ideas for your series (a stand alone feature film would be self contained, not needing elaboration), as well as character and location breakdowns, notes on tone, sfx, cinematography, etc. a cool contemporary example would be the stranger things story bible, originally called montuak—easy to search out that pdf...! check it out maybe if this is all new to you (see good article link at bottom of post) all this stuff IS a lot of work (lol/smh), but ironically ive discovered that for me as a writer the whole mythology actually comes easier than a tight pilot, the big view of the world and the characters in it, i need that to makes sense of what im writing, and i LOVE how a story bible can be visual and all, as opposed to a teleplay in a strict typewriter like format anybody here ever attempt anything like this?? any tips???? anything.... any comments are relevant lol. feel free to reply out of pure ignorance, i do that all the time lol if ~I~ have any tips (i dont), its that youre writing for buyers who need a killer logline. like, if it doesnt sound somehow DIFFERENT, like a SHOW YOU WOULD WATCH, and producible in reality, forget it. as an unproduced outsider non guild member writer, its hard to get anything ‘read’ by the powers that be to begin with. theres a reason that ppl use the phrase ‘break in’ to the business — the front door is not open 😂 they are not taking applications 😂 so, imagine that youre that executive who always has 30 sec to hear a great idea — and if its hot it doesnt matter where it came from. i try to think about projects from there, and then elaborate... *THIS* is why i need a proper tea regimen 😂 any comments appreciated guize https://screencraft.org/2017/10/26/how-to-sell-your-tv-series-the-stranger-things-way/

  9. Thanks to @cpc for actually reading what you were asking. I am always syncing audio from separate recorder so never think of cDNG being anything other than just frames. cheers Paul

  10. The problem is missing time codes in the audio files recorded by the camera. Resolve needs these to auto sync audio and image and present them as a single entity. Paul has posted a workaround here: As a general rule, if the uncompressed image and audio don't auto sync in Resolve, the compressed image won't auto sync either.

  11. Way back when this topic first started, we were just about to start the second season of our experimental/comedy web series, #millcore. I dialed in the RGB settings I liked, created a LUT, and just used that for all shots. The settings I ended up using were: R 1.88, G 1.85, and B 1.95. Now (a few years later...) we are finally showing it publicly, so I can share the trailer.

  12. Hello! I found a way to add a 709like profile to Panasonic G9. Using the Wi-Fi connection and the LumixVideoFormats-2 application, the profile was activated, as well as cine D / cineV on Panasonic Gx 85, 709like can be saved to a custom profile. Enjoy!

Not being defensive, even though seems to you and I bet for 66% others over here if so : D BTW majorities don't break my heart anyway, I confess I have a weakness for minorities... ; ) The point is we live in a selfish society. People go to YT but mind you they post their findings here? I just see many of people today coming everywhere and collect to their own benefit. It's sick. Wanna know my opinion? I write it anyway... LOL I didn't take as offense (hence my disclaimer up there), I address it merely as a point. People are too lazy to scroll the page down. Reason why many videos to worth your time as you say or bother your curiosity are always better to pretend you're not aware of their existence... LMAO People prefer to jump and comment on YT among strangers more often than I like to see. I still fuel these type of forum communities to flourish so I'd rather bring the discussions to here for some good reason. Take a look on my posting activity, my friend, I am even ashamed for the time spent so I don't see the need for words when I can avoid them. BTW "recommended" by AI, you mean? ; ) It is not the same as coming from my scrutiny, trust me, I rarely post anything randomly, well, I even take my time to choose them yet ; -) In a line: YT is a mess.

I actually do similar, - depends on the scenario but use the AF to get a lock and then flip it to manual. Especially during things like wedding ceremonies where some dick stands up to take a picture on their phone and the AF locks on to them...and then does not return to the original subject. Oh, FFS, more self-inflicted muppetry 🤪

  16. Pretty sure many of the Marvel films which are all big budget SFX heavy were shot on Alexas which don't even do 6k. Not sure what using an M43 camera now has to do with not keeping up with the future. Its not like you are putting all your life savings into a 1k camera lol All of these consumer cameras will be irrelevant 10 years from now. I am also pretty sure the reason most people aren't using film nowadays is because its not convenient, not due to the lesser image quality. Everyone I know would use film over digital if it was as easy/cheap as shooting digital. An 8k camera would be nice for my upcoming project tho, that 3-1 car shot would be a time saver. Would be the only situation where I'd use it on this film so it would be like a day rental but still.

  20. I'm the manager of a movie theater on Cape Cod, our business has been absolutely tanking this month compared to last year. I'm glad my wife works from home in medical billing and coding, because if it gets bad here we will have to close temporarily. 75% of our customers this time of year are over the age of 65.

    Fuji X-T4

I sat through this video so you don’t have to, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news: the camera showed signs of overheating really quickly. Yes, they seem to be in a very warm climate but according to the reviewer warnings about overheating popped up within minutes. If this will be the case with the finished production copies, it will certainly not be suitable for any serious work. Ominous to say the least, especially since there are several reports about issues with the X100V as well, from overheating to misaligned focus rings. Shame on you Fujifilm.
