  1. We shot this over a few days in Canada on the Panasonic S1 and Mavic pro 2. Honestly I can't be happier with the S1. Having shot on the A7iii and the A7sii for the past years the S1 is quite an advance in image quality. There is so much latitude in post and the dynamic range is really great in comparison.

  3. Don't worry, not all Americans, as I've said on another thread, have drunk so much of the Trump Cool Aid that they believe this garbage. We know we're not exceptional in this regard (getting through this pandemic via some cockamamie pseudo-scientific "American" miracle) or many others. We're shutting down our events and schools, working from home if possible, maintaining social distance, and BUYING ALL THE FUCKING TOILET PAPER IN THE WORLD!!! Also, we know our health care system isn't great and the magical free market won't fix it, hasn't so far. At the same time, it is a pretty damn nice place to live. So there's that.

So What Will You Do ?

I've bought so much of it that when the lockdown is lifted I'll be having to do some urban combat tactics for laxative purchasing to make sure I get the stockpile down !

Don't worry, not all of us 'mericans are drinking the oddly orange colored Kool Aid currently being served up by the Cheeto in Chief, along with his usual sides of confusion, baseless self-aggrandizement, ruthless politicizing and swindling the gullible. But those who are drinking it... well you've read the results of that right here.

Masks not really useful unless you are already sick. Best you can do is wash your hands, don’t touch your face and limit your contact with people until the infection rate is under control. I’m more worried about the broader impact on my businesses. I have employees but it looks like, If the political parties put aside their grievances, we will have some financial relief for employees who become sick and can’t work. Too bad I can’t take advantage of them since I’m self-employed!

'World Cup' was probably the wrong term as they are only held once every 4 years and I've managed to hoard enough lenses over the years to make it a daily event !

  12. I live in a rural, conservative place. We certainly have the right to have guns, loud trucks, confederate flags and massive anti-semitic billboards on your front lawn (seriously, it's about a mile from my house). However, it is illegal to have solar panels on your roof because it's an eyesore--despite being so sparsely populated there's no one to see each other's roofs. Every year our sheriff resigns right before elections and appoints a successor--but we were gerrymandered into a district with a distant city, so our votes barely count anyway. There is only a single high speed internet provider here, who legally claims coverage of my entire county, but only has actual coverage at half the houses, and their speeds only get up to 1/2 the advertised, already overpriced package. 3/4 phone providers don't actually have any service at all here, despite all of them claiming 4G or 5G. I truly love the US, but there are some blatant and bizarre exceptions to our freedoms, and we are currently overrun with large corporations that are allowed to lie, overcharge us, and get tax breaks without providing any service at all.

  14. Got some bad news for you buddy I'm afraid! New Zealand (First Place!) ranks higher than the USA (15th) when it comes to freedom! https://www.cato.org/human-freedom-index-new Here is another different list put together by a different organisation: https://www.heritage.org/index/ranking Uh oh, sorry, New Zealand (3rd) is once again ranked ahead of the USA! (12th) Once the USA has solved their coronavirus problem, feel free to come over and visit New Zealand to enjoy some freedom 😉

  16. Damn. I know they say 'if you have it, flaunt it'. But do they really got to flex on us like that. Geez. I would love to own a set like that someday. I know it's a lot of money, they're really sought-after, but you know they say it's a solid investment... can't see that going down the drain anytime soon... or wait...

  17. Any good cinematography will be emotionally manipulative. So the answer is yes. Suggest watching and studying early movies that really explored this such as Citizen Kane or Battleship Potemkin. I also just recently watched Rudolph Maté's work with Joan of Arc and was in tears by the end of it.

  18. People forget that in the first Transformers movie that Megan foxes character was a young women that was trying to be treated with respect for her skills with cars. The way she was shot completely undermined that, to the point no one even remembers her character. The way you shoot a character can absolutely influence how their performance is portrayed.

  21. There might be ways that a cinematographer and editor could "interpret" a performance. And, perhaps, lighting could influence a performance, as could lenses, DOF (if the actor/performer could see those results on set). However, it is not the cinematographer's job to influence a performance -- that is the directors job. In regards to an editor or cinematographer "interpreting" a performance, both crew members exist to serve the director's vision. So, they can suggest ideas and execute their craft, but the director necessarily has the final word.

I trust the actual medical scientists of the CDC. They're not idiots and they know how reality works. Do I trust other people that disseminate the information (including me)? Not so much. Yeah, but I think that's just in general. They'd probably rather drink a Coors Light or some shit.

Sometimes you have to properly shim the lens to get the parfocal ability. Honestly was pretty impressed by your tests, yes it's not razor sharp but it has a nice clean look and it's lack of contrast can be a good thing.

The President of our region here in Spain has just announced that we can't travel in our local municipality to try and contain the spread of the virus because "there is no other option, from this moment there is no freedom of movement" Ironic really as I came here to get away from my own national government taking away my freedom of movement with their lunatic Brexit cult

  32. Lol, you seriously believe this? The only country? You americans trully live in another world. Your president just had dinner with an infected minister from Brazil. Good luck.

  33. You didn't have multiple entire countries shutting down like this over those other situations. And Italy too just had "a few" deaths, then a few dozen, then BOOM two hundred deaths in a single day. That's what happens with exponential growth. Don't be complacent now, otherwise soon it will be too late.

  35. Hey guys I'm pretty new to photography. I mainly have taken photos on my phone or my GoPro and im looking to step up my photo game. I travel a lot and mainly take landscape pictures and pictures of me and my friends at lookout points and what not. This is just a hobby I'm by no means a professional photographer nor do I want to make a business out of it. So if you have any suggestions let me know I'd like to keep it under the $1000 price point if possible.
