Looks like we have another Trump troll heading for the bot farm from which they came. What a shit stirrer. A ban is coming on at least 10 members because you are basically toxic people. I am not going to sit here and let you turn the forum toxic with your racism and America First fuck the rest of us delusion. You will need the Germans when the vaccine is ready. You need the British when you want a camera forum, apparently. But being grateful or thankful apparently isn't a part of your brain that lights up very much. Therefore you don't deserve to be a member of this forum. It's that simple. Enjoy your time here while it lasts because I am going to blanket ban toxic thickos tomorrow. For the other idiots and patriot racists who are coming out of the woodwork, you're time's up. Camera forums deserve a basic morality going on. If you are trying to gain exclusivity over a coronavirus remedy, it's nothing more than a profit grab and a death sentence for others. The science community is a global one. All important science needs to be a world effort especially with a pandemic like this. People are slowly realising what America First really means and what does this for America's image in the world. It fucking tarnishes it, to say the least. You have a President who is destroying any remaining appeal of American identity and idealism in the eyes of 80% of the world's population. Be a good neighbour and you may get a German or Japanese coronavirus medicine at the same time as the rest of us. And if you think your own people and flag is so much better than the others, develop your own fucking vaccine. Like I say, I have tolerated gobshites all my life but time's up. Yes I do remember the behaviour on the Titanic. Having an exclusive deal on a pandemic vaccine isn't IN YOUR FUCKING BEST INTERESTS YOU FUCKWIT You really are as fuckwitted as it gets... aren't you? You consider shafting the world some kind of "victory" You don't live in a fucking bubble. You are a human being on planet Earth before you're an American.8 points -

I am putting my foot down in this fucking thread. eleison is no longer welcome. Can't allow racism here, even when it's in disguise as patriotism. If he rejoins I will track him and take legal action against him for damaging the reputation of my forum and site. We can't allow the forum to descend into toxic bullshit. It's as simple as that.6 points -
I made a list - Inventory all my gear and sell what I don't need. - Finishing a short documentary that I was working on. - Color grading some VFX for a short I shot previously, as the guy doing the VFX has downtime to work on it as well. - Storyboarding for a short, hopefully to be shot in May (we'll see...) - Editing vacation videos that I have never gotten around to - Doing a deep-dive Review/Instruction video for the Sony F3 - Doing work around the house. - Doing more camera tests with my wife, who agrees to it only to prevent me going stir crazy. So..... About the original point of this thread then. Has anyone got up to anything interesting yet whilst in isolation that they can share with the group? Yesterday I posted this live scene from my workbench and I'm pleased to share with you all the outcome of what was going on in it. With having that ability to concentrate fully on a project that only fully being in isolation can bring, I have completed eating both bars of chocolate.4 points

Glad to see the job done ; ) I had no idea Sony has the vaccine too, pity we need to wait their high-end before the release of the a7S III to reach the shelves : D that is, for soon very likely, to evaluate from their CS as someone else has also written in this same page and Lavoisier said more than two hundred years ago... ...Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.4 points

Since there is a camera owning plans thread, why not? My plans are just to try and hang on to the lenses i currently have (five main ones and a couple of outliers anyway). Canon EF mount 17mm f4 L tilt shift Canon FD 24 1.4 L Sony Zeiss 55 1.8 Sigma 150 2.8 APO macro (EF mount) Tamron 300 2.8 adaptall MF I still have a heap of others but most not used...occasional use of a Canon EF 20-35 2.8 L and FD 85 1.2 L but both have issues. The 300 2.8 just might be my most used lens for people shooting over the coming months (perfect for portraits while social distancing). IF (big IF), I get some money later this year after the current mess is over and the Aussie dollar climbs the mountain again, I would like to get the new Sony 20 1.8 but that is more like I am dreaming.3 points

Crazy times! Boarders being closed, countries and cities being in lockdown, who could´ve expected this when this year started?! Here are some impressions from Munich, near the train station. Usually really crowded, almost at any time of the day. These days, people doing home office don´t have to commute to their workplace, staying at home anyway. Unfortunately in the afternoon some places here get quite crowded with people meeting to chat, to drink or eat something together. So a lockdown for the city of munich has already been discussed.3 points -
Yeah! Good thinking. My PL to EF mount just came in earlier today for my IGA VLEV HELIOS 44-2 58mm f/2 cinehoused puppy that had already come in. I need to work my way through some moving boxes to find the Viltrox EF-M2 and see if I missed any of those more recent firmware updates (GH5/G9), looks like weather's getting sunnier this weekend, so hopefully I can get a beach/dunes hike in and grab a few shots. With the Sirui as well. * officially moved here last month, not too shabby (pica from my balcony with my Huawei P30 Pro 2 days ago) Otherwise, indeed, seeing what else is lurking in the boxes and see if I can't sell a couple things... time for these 'investments' to pay out, lol.3 points

Last month I made a trip to Barcelona to film the Formula One circus in town for the pre-season test. This, it turned out would be the last time the 2020 F1 cars would run. When a McLaren team member tested positive for the virus at the first race in Australia, the race was called off. In a twist of fate I met McLaren CEO and team boss Zak Brown in track grandstand and watched the new car in action before crisis hit - now we might never know how fast the car was versus the likes of dominant Mercedes and Ferrari. For anyone in a country that isn't locked down, you'll love Day 6. Out on a brief exercise walk with my other half this evening (which we have been doing 3 times a day around our little empty housing complex ) we fell foul of the newly introduced additional restriction today of not walking with anyone else. On the surface it does seem a bit of a mad one for couples who are living together in isolation anyway but due to us being in isolation we didn't get informed about it directly as we would have been by the administrators of the community. So, if we'd known about it, we'd have complied. Simple as that and no problem to us because due to our Japan trip we've been practising COVID-19 awareness before it became fashionable But hey, even though we didn't know about it, ignorance is no defence so hands up and we'd take what was coming from the Police.... Except this wasn't the Police it was another resident conducting some sort of paramilitary neighbourhood watch scheme. After shouting at us about whether the security company who patrol the estate had told us about the new restrictions we said no and remarked, as you do, that it seemed daft considering we lived together but were shrugging and turning round to go home. And then it escalated beyond all reason. I have a bit of a thing where if I'm in the wrong then I have no problem with being told. You can even re-iterate what I've done wrong and I'll go along with it. But its the third time that pushes my buttons. You know the third one don't you? The one when someone is talking to you like you are a child or an idiot? Anyway, I politely(ish) informed him that I understood it the first time and the second time and there was no need to fucking repeat it again. Of course the farce of this is that due to isolation, this whole exchange was being shouted across a road at each other Anyway, he gets it into his head that I'm an arrogant prick (I'll plead the 5th on that) because I'm utterly non-plussed by his attempts to intimidate me. That wasn't because of some sort of hardman deal just that it was such an unlikely turn of events that I wasn't really reacting beyond thinking he was a complete tit. As I crossed to the middle of the empty road to re-iterate that I wasn't going to be receptive to any of the threats or abuse, he reveals the concealed Nikon DSLR to try and takes a sly pictures of us, presumably to try and "non singular walking" shame us on Facebook. Recognising that it was an utterly futile exercise to engage any further, we started to head back the 300 metres to our apartment when the frothing lunatic appears (breaking his own isolation no less) claiming that we must stop where we are to await arrest by the Police and he will personally ensure we are both fined €600 each. He had undoubtedly completely and utterly lost his mind so I told the other half to start walking back to the apartment. I started walking towards him to try give him some pause about whether he needed to dial this down because this particular arrogant prick wasn't buying it and also to put a bigger gap between him and my missus in case he did act on it. (Spoiler alert, I wasn't fully buying it but had put down a hefty deposit on it because I could see he had become unhinged, was twice my size but I'd jumped off the diving board at this point ) Plus, there was no way I was going to turn my back on him at this point ! Anyway, he whips out the phone this time to video me and then says I have to remain where I am because now he was going to arrest me I think I may have laughed at this point which sent his rage-o-meter off the charts and he was bellowing me at a distance of about 40cm. Oh dear. The self styled Isolation Warrior of Murcia had saved his community from the threat of two of its residents walking together and was now firing his frothy rage fuelled spittle all over one of them. Of course, I pointed this irony out to the camera on the video he was still recording of me and it was abruptly stopped to be replaced with more threats of physical violence at an SPL level that even AC/DC might deem to be a bit on the high side. I backed away from him slowly at this point and then turned and walked back slowly to make sure that my missus was back in the apartment in case he came after me again. Even walking slowly was an act of arrogance apparently which got his motor running again. So I sit here patiently awaiting the arrival of the Guardia Civil to take all my toilet roll money (I hope @Grimor can put in a word for me with the authorities in case they cart me away) or perhaps this lunatic might just settle for sending his dog around to perform a canine arrest on me. Of all the insults he brought forth on me, I think the worst one was him taking pictures of me with such a shitty zoom kit lens on that Nikon. From the moment I saw that, he had no chance of taking the high ground Oh and for context, this confrontation was between two middle aged British men in Spain proving that, even when we are in full lockdown isolation , we can always find new ways to lower the tone.2 points

We're working from home for the forseeable future, so I"m taking it easy and cleaning my office/gear room on the clock as 'administrative' tasks. My goal is to start taking camera walks more and to finish building out some different things. I have 3 of the Travor 3060a LED flex panels that I've worked out a rig for to put the three of them together into a 60x90 (2x3) grid and I've ordered a bunch of supplies to hook them up into different modular combinations 60x60 (2x2). I ordered some different sized quick umbrella soft boxes to mount them inside of in the various configs.2 points -

And then in an act of stupefying hypocrisy Lewis Hamilton decides to make use of his newly acquired free time in Melbourne to toddle off doing indoor rock climbing and surfing with a bunch of strangers. What really fascinated me about the F1 circus when I went to the testing with @Andrew Reid before the world stopped were the buildings the teams erected in the paddock for entertaining sponsors etc. They were full on apartment blocks with elevators in them and as we were looking at them I said that I can't help thinking that if the F1 teams can turn up all over the world every two weeks building those structures then they could easily solve the housing shortage in the UK within a few months! Of course, now, with the impending seriousness of the peak of the virus thats coming, they should seriously look at using their skills in doing the same to build overflows for hospitals. I can't help thinking that the UK government's appeal to manufacturers for anyone with capabilities that could be used to help build ventilators could be addressed by the F1 teams that are based there as well as I'm sure they have the associated engineering skills and small scale manufacturing ability to help out.2 points -

P6K to ARRI Alexa - Resolve PowerGrade
JordanWright reacted to Juan Melara for a topic
Hey guys, late last year I bought a P6K to work alongside the Alexa I normally shoot with. The goal was to have smaller, lighter camera that would live on a gimbal or could be used in situations where a full size Alexa wouldn't work. Knowing that both cameras would need to intercut seamlessly, I set about profiling the P6K using the same process I had previously used to profile the Alexa sensor and various negative film stocks. This process generates approximately 14,000 data points per camera. I then took the visual form of this data into Resolve and created a PowerGrade that accurately matches the P6K to the Alexa. After several requests, I've now packaged up the PowerGrade and added it to my store. You can check it out here: https://juanmelara.com.au/products/bmpcc-6k-to-alexa-powergrade-and-luts The PowerGrade At the heart of a PowerGrade is a custom 3x3 matrix that aligns the P6K's colours with the Alexa's. Because this is done through a matrix in linear space, the result is actually closer to a technical transform. The benefits this brings over a LUT is that it's non destructive, there's no danger of clipping or clamping data. And if you really wanted to, you could fully reverse the transform with zero loss in quality. This is because it doesn't break Resolve's 32bit float space like LUTs do. Probably one of the best features of a PowerGrade is that is fully editable and customisable. But since editing a 3x3 matrix isn't the easiest thing in the world, I've also included a Hue vs Hue/Hue vs Sat curve approximation of the matrix which is far easier to customise. And because it's a PowerGrade you can see exactly what is being done by each node, which means that I'm not able to hide snake oil like you can with a LUT. The LUTs Speaking of LUTs, knowing that a lot of people actually prefer to work with LUTs, I also created a LUT version. It's the exact same transform but in LUT form. One of the biggest limitations with most LUTs is that they clip any information that exceeds the top of the waveform, so basically any value above 1.0. This is a big issue with BMPCC footage as enabling Highlight Recovery or working with any ISO above 400 pushes valuable information above 1.0, where it is permanently clipped. With this BMPCC specific requirement in mind, I developed the LUTs to accept and work with values exceeding 1.0. So no matter if you enable Highlight Recovery or push the ISO to 6400, the LUT is able access and process all the information extending above 1.0. Anyway, check it out and let me know if you have any questions or comments. I'm keen to get feedback from any users to see what can be improved or expanded on. Comparisons Here are a few comparison images shot with the P6K mounted on the Alexa's top handle. The Alexa was using a Zeiss Milvus 35mm, the P6K was using a Zeiss Milvus 25mm, then cropped in post to match the FOV. The Alexa images are untouched, the P6K images feature minor exposure adjustments only. Check the store link for more images.1 point -

Hmm, that's a strange one. When a bug like this happens at project level, I often start a new project and import everything. One can export the timeline when it is highlighted in the project bin, through File > Export AAF, XML. That will often strip the timeline of project level bugs when re-importing to a new project. And, place the whole EC folder into the Resolve folder, and refresh in Resolve (as compared to a single cube, etc). This way, you can have the ABLs and Exps in folder order right next to the conversions. Here's -.66 + Day Lin + Abl2:1 point -

Currently in the honeymoon phase with my FS5. I bought mine mid summer last year and it took a couple of months to get the images I wanted from it. Here's a mix of games I shot a few weeks ago. 10 bit 422 240fps in 1080p with no crop has been amazing. Variable ND filter is a game changer as well. FS7 dropping in price is tempting ngl, but the FS5 is so much smaller and easier to travel with. FX9 inside of an FS5 body (which is definitly possible) is my dream camera. Great DR, class leading cine cam autofocus, class leading cine cam lowlight performance with dual native iso, variable ND, great mic preamps, and a rugged body. 😵1 point -
This thread had turned into less of a discussion on the Corona Virus/Covid-19 Outbreak/Epidemic/Pandemic and more of guys having their periods (we're a hundred times worse than the women, and we don't even have biology to support our behavior). They should probably hand out male sanitary napkins along with face masks and testing kits, to help everyone calm their t!ts. I don't care about anyone whining or spewing vitriolic in disagreement with me, someone who hasn't or cannot read newspapers or watch the news and is drowned in his political bullshit of a viewpoint, or someone generally frustrated with life and everything in it. It reminds me of college when some office staff worker pushed me and I punched him in retaliation (I am very rarely provoked). I was taken to the principal who asked the guy why he was misbehaving. When he said his mother died the precious evening, I asked him why he came to work instead of being at her funeral/cremation, and there was this strange silence. He got his leave and the principal apologised to me. Long story short, if your life is completely screwed up and the world is getting screwed too, stop spreading the rabid vitriolic. Everyone already has enough on their plates. And quite frankly nobody gives a flying f that your life is sad or you're planning to jump off a 100 floor building. Right now, sensible people are keeping themselves away from infections, stocking up essentials, and having a few backup plans.1 point
