  1. Hi all, 1. BMPCC 4K and Oly 12-100, but I also frequently use GH5 and A73. I had a hacked GH1 and footage from it still looks lovely even cameras have improved so much. 2. I am from Finland and now living in the Netherlands. A hobbiest and working with public healthcare. 3. I still enjoy listening songs that I heard when I was a teen (such as It never rains by Dire Straits) 4. I am looking forward to GH6 and A7SIII. Probably I don't need those, but I may want one. 5. I miss Finnish forests and sauna. I used to live in the UK and I miss hiking areas (National Trust) and Sunday roasts in good pubs. 6. I have been following EOSHD every now and then since the GH2.

  2. Well since that quarantine got us all... I struggle a lot with inactivity, so i had to make a short film... Almost alone, by my self. The point of this is just to entertain and motivate others to make, create even on this times. PD: I had a Panasonic S1 that was let to me for testing. I used this for the film.

    Fuji X-T4

From keeping up with the thread myself, I'd say: 1) IBIS, but this is controversial... some are just saying the testers are being unrealistic 2) overheating? (although like the latest video said which raised this "issue", if you flip out the screen then that releases the heat. But he didn't go into how much longer the camera can go if you flip it out always?) Remember, the X-T4 is still only pre order, wait until it ships and gets into more hands before judging it!

  4. Well... a rental borrow me a Panasonic S1 for testing... them the quarantine came to my country. So, i was so bored that i made a short film by my self, almost alone. Obliviously for the grading i used the GHAlex Luts. B&W was made with LogC to film print Color was made directly with the "Main lut" then graded a little. The point of this is just to entertain and incentive others to make and create things now on this times.

Another possibility... you could use a softbox and grid on your light panel to soften and control the light, then have it push through a second diffuser frame/panel etc. The grid will help combat the spill. I bought this frame for around £35 on amazon a few years back. Unbleached muslin on top of the standard diffusion. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Light-Reflector-5in1-Flag-Panel-80x100cm-Photography-Multi-Studio-Frame-Diffuser/372671319007?hash=item56c4f10bdf:g:tgAAAOSwkLtc3WAS quick and dirty test with the setup Best of luck mate

  7. Yeah T-shirts are too dense. Bouncing is probably the easiest way you just need negative fill.

  9. Hello everyone, let me tell you the story of how I got the cheapest single focus solution. And how it compares to the Rectilux HCDNA (results a the end of the post) Last month, I found this anamorphic adapter on ebay : It was cheap, and looked like a weird anamorphic projection lens using prisms. So I bought it (Gear Acquisition Syndrome :D). Then I took it apart to clean it, and noticed it consisted of two prisms (for the anamorphic part) and some kind of focussing solution in the front. So I 3D printed an adapter for it (around 5GBP printed at a local shop) and tried it. And of course it confirmed to be a single focus solution ! So I had to test it ! Here are the results compared to the hardcore DNA : Taking lens : Super Takumar MC 105mm f/2.8 Camera : Canon 50D Anamorphic lens : Schneider Cinelux Single Focus Solution : Rectilux HCDNA vs GB-Kalee Small Anamorphic (front part) (Same grade applied to all shots) Here is a picture of the setup : Of course, the GB-Kalee is less convenient : - Minimum focus distance around 1.8m - Smaller element diameter (would work better with smaller anamorphic) - More difficult to focus (as my copy of this adapter is quite beaten up) - Needs a mounting solution for both back and front as there is no filters. (But the HCDNA is similar here are the threads are not standard size) So, What do you think ? I personally think this GB-Kalee needs a rehousing !

  10. Hi guys, just want to share a simple video of a Olive-winged Bulbul which flew and perched on a tree just right in front of me at the local zoo. Shot with hacked Samsung NX1 with a 45mm 1.8 with AF and DIS on. At 4K UHD 180mbs, the details looks very good to me. Please ignore the background noise though as it was in the zoo afterall.

Thanks man! I’ve given it a second thought- I have a spare shower curtain and a mic stand I could drape that over and try shooting the 528 through that setup. Thankful for this communities quick encouragement!

Foam-board can be purchased on the cheap and it makes for a great a bounce. I would also recommend some Unbleached muslin. Wraps around the skin nicely.

No need to invest in better gear, it's simply a matter of knowing how to use it properly. That's a great idea. T-shirts may be a bit too dense and thick, that's why you lost so much power. A translucent shower curtain is a way better solution. Not only it's bigger (bigger diffusion → softer source), but also lets through more light. You can get it for a couple of dollars. Another good recommendation. Bouncing LEDs off a big surface greatly improves softness of lighting, but it's crucial to control the spill. Providing some videos, photos or at least a diagram of your lighting setup would help us help you, since right now we can only imagine what you did. I really recommend taking a look at some Behind The Shoots, etc. For example: https://www.instagram.com/p/B7oFetnA_qZ/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BxWHJhVH8SO/ https://www.instagram.com/p/Be2weUMAFkV/ It's nothing groundbreaking, just the things I was talking about - diffusing a LED panel with some shower curtain, placing some white bounce to wrap the light around the subject, putting some flags to kill the spill, and, finally, black curtains on surfaces which could reflect the light. Gear isn't the deciding factor. Owning Aputure 300D wouldn't help you, at all.

So What Will You Do ?

Drug dealers are becoming dog dealers now? Can you paint a couple of eyes on the hat and put it in a bag and call it Fido? (does the law say the DOG has to do the walking or is it just to "walk the dog")? Bloke here got stopped by the police and asked what reason he had to be out of home and he told them he had to visit his drug dealer!
