  1. 1. Sigma fp + Lomo OKC 4-28-1 (28mm T2, Super 35mm/APS-C). 2. Working as a teacher at a design school + photographer + video maker. 3. Since this site is based in the UK, I'll list my favorite British music: Daphne Oram, Brian Eno, The Pop Group, favorite sport: boxing, with huge nods to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Otherwise, privileged that my job is my hobby and vice versa. 4. Hopes for EOSHD: I most appreciate DIY/self-help/community mutual help coverage and discussions. The current thread on the Sigma fp (and how to work around its quirks) is a brilliant example, as is the thread on shooting RAW video on the EOS-M. My hope for the future of EOSHD is to further explore this direction. IMHO, progress in camera technology is slowing down, and we are almost "there". (For example, a mirrorless camera with an s35 sensor, clean 6400 ISO, good IBIS, good video autofocus, good color science, good manual controls, internal 10bit log + RAW recording would basically be "it"; which means that a camera like the Fuji X-T4 is 95% "there".) At some point, it might become more exciting to max out existing, cheaply available technology, than wait for the next great camera to come out. The EOS-M with MagicLantern Raw is a brilliant example. 5. There's better food, better climate, better street manners and now even better public services (transport, health...) in other parts of the world than in the Northern European country where I live; and as the Corona crisis shows, maybe generally smarter societies. (I'm particularly thinking of high-tech Asian countries such as Taiwan and South Korea.) But what I do miss elsewhere is my local arts community, aside from living in a stable part of the world with lower political threats/risks than elsewhere. 6. Must have been in 2013 when MagicLantern's RAW video recording on the Canon EOS 50D was reported here.

  2. My newest Camera is the Pocket 4k, a really great camera for what I do. Nevertheless, I bought a cheap Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera last year and really like the images a lot. It´s maximum is 1080p60, but the images really look great and offer great options in the grading process. Combined with vintage lenses it creates really organic footage and there are a lot of situations I prefer this compact Camera to my Pocket 4k. Overall it depends on the look I want to achieve and the recording modes I need, but for a mid 2015 Camera in this small form factor, it´s insanely good.

BMMCC (ProRes LT), Sankor 16c, VidAtlantic Clamp, Cosmicar 25mm f/1.9 c-mount lens, Tiffen +1, +2, +4 diopters, Tiffen +1/2 Split Diopter, Firecrest IRND I really love this camera/lens combination, and I'm happy to be shooting anamorphic again after selling my previous lenses 6 years ago. The BMMCC's Super 16 sensor goes well with anamorphic because you can still get a shallow enough DOF, but deep enough wide open to be usable/practical. You get sharp, low light anamorphic that's actually in focus (this whole video was shot wide open at f/1.9. I can get similarly sharp/usable results at f/1.4 with my Canon TV-16 25mm, which is why I need to fix it).

  4. I think a bunch of people might be a little surprised that the film-makers that feel this the least will be the people who create content in their own home studios. This means YouTube, but also people that create paid content such as courses and other in-house productions behind paywalls. Film-making was a team sport until it wasn't. People might also learn how to get decent audio and video of themselves, although judging from this mornings virtual team meeting in my corporate day-job, maybe not....

  5. The TechArt PRO E mount AF adapter will give you the same thing without optics and although its meant for smaller lenses, with a larger lens, like your Sigma, which has a tripod collar it still works very well. Here it is with a bit of an extreme example ! If TechArt could make this in L mount (2mm less to play with) then they would get a lot of sales off Leica owners wanting AF of their M mount lenses.

  6. So true. The higher end web cams have also gone way up in price. Everywhere is sold out and eBay is marked way up. New York Times worked with the webcam footage in a cool way. https://www.nytimes.com/video/health/100000007056651/covid-ards-acute-respiratory-distress-syndrome.html?smid=pl-share

  7. Do you remember the translucent mirror phase detect AF adapter for Sony A7S... Gave the camera phase-detect AF with the old SLR lenses... That's what the L mount cameras need ;)

  9. Hi Devon, i missed this sorry. Unbound RGB is a floating point version of the colours where they have no upper and lower limits (well infinity or max(float) really). If a colour is described in a finite set of numbers 0...255 then it is bound between those values but you also need the concept of being able to say, what Red is 255? That's where a colourspace comes in, each colourspace defines a different 'Redness'. So P3 has a more saturated Red than 709. There are many mathematical operations that need bounds otherwise the math fails - Divide for example, whereas addition can work on unbound. There's a more in-depth explanation here with pictures too! https://ninedegreesbelow.com/photography/unbounded-srgb-divide-blend-mode.html Hope that helps? cheers Paul
